However, I don’t think that is fully the case because I just requested a subreddit yesterday because I gave up on trying for [r/IsraelNews](r/IsraelNews). While I am excited about moderating the one I just acquired, [r/IsraelNews](r/IsraelNews) would be more important for balancing our most important sub [r/Israel](r/Israel). I think it is not fair to our users to not let them have a place to post the news that didn’t make the cut for [r/Israel](r/Israel).

Also, this wouldn’t just be a personal project, but something I would plan on bringing on the whole [r/Israel](r/Israel) team since we are cutting the news down in our main subreddit. This would be in essence an extension of [r/Israel](r/Israel), and become an official sister subreddit.
I just started the process of dumping my inactive subreddits in [r/adoptareddit](r/adoptareddit). I will also look into other avenues of getting rid of more of the subs. I will do my best to reduce the subs I moderate to about ten. Could you please consider letting me acquire [r/IsraelNews](r/IsraelNews) to merge it as a sister sub to [r/Israel](r/Israel). I would bring on the whole [r/Israel](r/Israel) moderation team.
I strongly believe it is really important to the [r/Israel](r/Israel) community. [r/IsraelNews](r/IsraelNews) would be a top priority sub for me. I was not aware there were limits to how many subs I can mod. I will be way more selective of the subs I moderate in the future.
I’ve tried requesting a r/IsraelNews through r/redditrequest at least three times, possibly four. The subreddit currently has zero moderators. Each time I submitted the request, however, my post was removed almost immediately, and I never received a response from u/request_bot explaining why.
Initially, I assumed there might be an issue with my eligibility, email verification, 2FA, or another Reddit Request requirement. However, yesterday I requested a different subreddit after essentially giving up on the one I actually needed. That request went through normally, and I was able to acquire the subreddit without any issues. So it appears that the problem is specific to r/IsraelNews rather than my account or eligibility.
For some context as to why we’re interested in acquiring it: I moderate r/Israel, and our community has 250k+ members, more than 100,000 weekly visitors, and thousands of weekly contributions.
Our subreddit is primarily intended to focus on the country’s culture, everyday life, and community. We’ve been making a concerted effort to prevent current news from overwhelming that purpose. Because we’re the largest national subreddit for the country, however, we receive a very large volume of news submissions. We don’t prohibit news entirely, but we also don’t want it accounting for 99% of the feed, so our moderation team ends up removing a substantial amount of otherwise legitimate news content simply because we receive so much.
I believe r/IsraelNews is the ideal sister community for our main subreddit. It would let us maintain the culture and everyday-life focus of the main community while giving users a dedicated place to hyper-focus on news and current events. Instead of simply removing appropriate news submissions, we would redirect users to the sister subreddit.
Given that r/IsraelNews currently has no moderators and that my multiple attempts to request it appear to be getting automatically removed without explanation, I’m hoping you guys could help look into what’s happening.

I currently moderate r/Israel, where a large volume of news content is regularly submitted and often dominates the subreddit feed. I have adequate experience to revamp and moderate this subreddit. I moderate similar communities such as r/Israel, r/telaviv, and r/AskIsrael. I would like to moderate r/IsraelNews in order to build a dedicated community focused specifically on Israel-related news and current events. One of the main goals is to help declog r/Israel of constant news submissions so that it can better focus on its intended purpose as a culture, daily life, travel, and community-oriented subreddit.
As a moderator of r/Israel, I would establish r/IsraelNews as a sister subreddit to our main community, giving users a clear and appropriate place to share news-focused content that may fall outside the scope or balance of r/Israel itself.
