Mod Answered r/Sloth_IF cannot upload image posts.

Upvotes

Image posts are enabled under Mod Tools → Content & Contribution → Post Types, and I have toggled the setting off/on and saved it.

However, image uploads remain stuck at “Uploading image 1 of 1” and never complete.

The problem occurs on both Reddit Android and reddit.com on PC.

Another user in the subreddit is experiencing the same issue.

Image uploads work normally in other subreddits.

The Mod Tools Post Types page also previously appeared completely blank on Android.

This appears to be a community-specific media upload/backend issue.

I was updating the saved responses for my sub and making them more uniform and clear, rewriting, deleting and adding them, however after a few responses, it appears I am being restricted. It keeps showint try again, error, something went wrong.

I tried restarting the app, using the web version, nothing is working.

Ok who decided it was a good idea that when you click on the left side below a post to remove a post on desktop, you then get the "add removal reason" button on the right side below the post?

Admin Replied Why is “Reddit” approving posts it (and Automod) already blocked?

We had a post (correctly) removed by Automod and even flagged by Reddit as coming from a banned domain. The post stayed removed for a few hours. However, according to the logs, a few hours later “Reddit” approved the post, followed by a deluge of user reports.

How does something like this happen? I’ll add a screenshot in the comments. It makes no sense.

Mod Topics To ban or not to ban?

Every mod team has a line, the tricky part is deciding when someone has crossed it. A while back we asked how do you handle ban appeals. Now we’re jumping back to the initial question: when do you hit that ban button in the first place?

At its core, a ban is a tool your mod team uses to protect your community. It directly affects one person, but the decision is made for the community as a whole. That can leave a team balancing what’s best for everyone against the context around one person and one action. How much does a long history of positive participation weigh in? Does knowing the community well create more room for a conversation, or change how the rule break lands? The same history could pull the decision in either direction.

When the behavior may also break Reddit Rules, protecting the community can also mean reporting site-wide rule violations to us.

So, let’s compare notes:

  • What does your team look at before deciding whether to ban someone or try a warning and explanation first?
  • Can you think of a time a warning or explanation genuinely changed how someone participated?
  • How does your team keep those judgment calls consistent when different moderators might draw the line in different places?

Mod Answered What are mod teams doing about X after Xcancel and TwitterWebViewer have been taken down?

So on r/PS5 we don't allow X links and haven't for nearly 2 years. There were websites like xCancel and TwitterWebViewer that let you submit links from those tweets and bypass ads and log-in walls... but those two are down now.

So what alternatives are you considering? We're still pretty against allowing X links (even ignoring the frankly un-ignorable Elon of it all, X requires log-ins for viewing most posts, so it's a non-starter really) but, frustratingly, publishers and developers still break news on it, or drop some juicy tidbit of gaming gossip, so we are trying to figure out a game plan and I'm personally curious how other similar subreddits are dealing these changes. I'm sure we're not the only ones scrambling a little bit.

Maybe screenshots sounds good for a second but those can be doctored.

Maybe some sort of automoderator or post-creation automation that detects when someone is going to use an X link... Keep the existing rule (no direct X/Twitter links) but tell users in our removal reason that mirror sites are in flux and to check the source’s official channels (PS Blog, developer’s own site) when possible, per our rules on primary sourcing.

Anyone else have thoughts? How are you all shifting with these changes?

Increase in "low confidence, past few weeks" ban evasion notes on really old accounts?

Hey gang,

Anyone else seeing a recent increase in ban evasion notes on 7+ year old accounts that don't set off any additional red flags for the account actually being a ban evader, being bought, or being compromised?

I've seen a ton of these on r/gaming in the past month or so, particularly on accounts 10+ years old.

Admin Replied Account compromised — removed as moderator and new moderators added to multiple subreddits

My Reddit account was stolen on August 28, 2026. I recovered it the following day by changing my password and enabling 2FA.

The problem is that on August 28, I was removed as a moderator from the following subreddits:

Furthermore, all the other moderators of both subreddits were removed at the same time, and a new moderator was added to each subreddit on that exact day.

This clearly happened while my account was compromised, and we did not authorize any of these changes.

How can we get our previous moderator privileges restored and have the moderators who were added during the account compromise removed?

This is extremely concerning, as the changes were made without our consent while my account was compromised.

Thank you for your help.

Admin Replied My PRAW mod bot u/mtg-service is still not an "App"

I've messaged you & r/Devvit, registered the app, and filled the form. You have not replied to me anywhere and the issue persists so here I am.

Should I report this to r/bugs ?

Should I reach out to you on the Devvit Discord?

What am I supposed to do? I do not want to lose the API access on that account. Thanks.

Who am I? - a devvit app that lets users check their community karma, optionally shows your sub's karma limits and/or implement automod rules based on them.

Who am I is a tool that allows users to check their community karma through a (...) menu option.

Moderators can optionally set karma limits in the mod panel (in a menu option), optionally display them to users, and automatically add them to the automod config if wanted.

Get it for your community here

Admin Replied 2 accounts

I managed to get myself into a bit of a Reddit account/mod situation and could use some help figuring out how to fix it.

I have two separate communities and two accounts:

r/MidnightMisfits49801 is one community. My ShitshowPending account currently only shows as a regular user there, but I need u/ShitshowPending to have moderator access.

u/ShitshowPending is a completely separate community. My r/MidnightMisfits49801 account has moderator access there, but that account was shut down and I can no longer use it.

Basically, the account I can actually use needs moderator access to r/MidnightMisfits49801, and right now I don’t have a usable moderator account there to make the change myself.

Is there a way to get u/ShitshowPending added/restored as a moderator of r/MidnightMisfits49801 when the previous account is no longer accessible?

Any help would be appreciated because I have apparently created my own tiny Reddit identity crisis. 😂

Admin Replied Kicked out of my own subreddit.

Hi, i was recently kicked out of my own subreddit. I'am the creator of the subreddit. Not sure how this is possible. Their was one other mod in that subreddit, from what I heard his account got hacked and is kicking everyone out of all the other subreddit he is modding for. My account is not inactive, I posted 2 days ago. How do I get my subreddit back?

Thanks

Admin Replied User's temp ban expired, but they can't post and aren't in the ban log

A user was issued a 3 day temp ban which has now expired. However, the user still cannot post.

This user does not appear in the ban log at all, so we can't manually un-ban. We also tried to issue a new ban (so we could then un-ban them), and are receiving a 500 error when that happens.

User has been able to post in other subreddits and send us modmail.

Mod Topics Monthly Recap | August 2026

Hello! Welcome to the August edition of the Monthly Recap, where I briefly recap our Mod Topics posts on the moderation discussions that were posted for the month. I’m also here to update Helper flair, take suggestions for future Mod Topics topics, and for general merriment!

August Discussion and Support threads

Let’s take a look back at our weekly series of moderation-focused discussion topics that happened in August. As mentioned above we’re always looking for suggestions for future topics, so feel free to throw ideas out there!

August 4, 2026: User flair
August is hot and we started off hot with u/JabroniRevanchism asking about user flair. How and when do you use it? Who makes it? Who gets it? So. Many. Questions. But y’all had So. Many. Answers.

August 6, 2026: Guidance, not guesswork. Getting smart with post and comment guidance
A wild u/PossibleCrit is sighted! And they came with questions about post and comment guidance!

August 11, 2026: Share your username origin stories
All superheroes have an origin story. u/sodypop popped in to ask how you got your username! There were some great tales! (I was really happy u/eatmyasserole showed up! lol) I was working on some other stuff at the time of this post, but mine is a reference to the alter ego of Opus the penguin from Bloom County.

August 13, 2026: How are you transparent?
Speaking of superheroes, u/AsteriskRX saved the day by talking about transparency! They might not have x-ray vision, but they do want to see how you let your community know what you’re doing and when!

August 18, 2026: Tools, toys and timesavers: Digging into Developer Platform apps
u/PossibleCrit returns to talk about what is possible with Devvit (also known as Developer Platform) apps! u/SampleOfNone uses over 60 of them in their sub!

August 20, 2026: Finding potential mods in your community
u/techiesgoboom popped in to ask how you identify users who participate in your community that might make a good mod!

August 25, 2026: Shibboleths, Rituals, and Festivities: What cultural norms make your community unique?
u/JabroniRevanchism showed up to introduce the word “shibboleths”, and to also ask what sorts of stuffs are unique to your community?

August 27, 2026: How do you help new members navigate your community's learning curve?
Coming back rested and ready, u/techiesgoboom wrapped up the month by asking how you help your members learn the ropes in your community! We all hoped it wasn’t going to be trial by fire, and y’all did not disappoint!

Friendly reminder to update your Devvit apps
u/fsv reminded everyone early in August that Devvit apps just don’t update themselves! You have to do it! Yes, YOU! So it’s a good time to check in on any apps that you have to see if there are any updates that will keep them functioning properly in your communities. Thanks for the reminder (and for all of your Devvit apps), u/fsv!

Moderator Share & Tell
Here’s where you get to share your exciting news from last month with us! What awesome things happened in your communities?? There’s gotta be something! TELL ME. Last month…

We learned that a lot of you really enjoy the Mod Topics conversations that we’ve been having in here for a while now! I also find them very enjoyable and interesting! We’re always open to suggestions for future topics if you have ‘em! Really. Please help. lol

Flair updates

User flair is assigned to the top 10% and top 25% of users who are consistently constructive and helpful in their replies to posts and comments in this sub over the course of the past twelve months. As of this post, these are your current flaired helpers.

And that brings us to the end of August! Thank you so much to everyone who stops by to help in whatever form it takes. Whether it be comments, testing, feedback, assistance, you name it. If you’re here and it’s helpful, we’re appreciative! THANK YOU.

I’ll guess we’ll meet back here at the end of September and do this again! In the meantime, I’ll see y’all here, there and everywhere! Thanks again!
