Oooof... It's Kathleen Quinn, civics and democracy reporter for The Modesto Bee.
This is my last day with The Bee, as my California Local Reporting Fellowship has ended. It's hard because this newsroom is filled to the brim with amazing people who care about Modesto and Stanislaus County.
I just want to deeply thank everyone who spoke with me here, on or off the record. My time here was spent highlighting communities that I believe need more attention: unincorporated areas and rural residents.
My last article was about, of all things, mosquitoes. My second-to-last was a follow-up to my previous StanRTA/Transdev story from last month.
You and readers like you helped me write about elections, public participation in government, flooding, sidewalks, third spaces, water quality issues, foxes, beavers, mountain lions and more. Truly from the depth of my heart, thanks for upvoting, commenting, and reaching out.
I hope I served Modesto and Stanislaus County well over the last two years.
Continue reaching out to my amazing colleagues. They are great reporters and even better people.
