I'm currently in my final year Masters in Physics at Unimelb and I'm looking at my PhD options. I'm looking to do experimental physics with a heavy hands on component.

I was wondering if people could share some information about Professors at Monash doing research in either Optics, Imaging or 2d materials. Which ones are more experimental than others? Which ones are good to have a chat to? This type of info.

Also anyway for me to get into a discord server for Physics at Monash?

Anyone else apply for the Monash Sourced Internship (Summer A 2026) and get rejected without even getting an interview?

Just got my rejection email — it said my proposal responses and CV didn't meet the required standard, so I was cut at the first (written application) stage.

My resume actually has internship experience, project experience and part-time work experience on it, so I didn’t think my background was that weak, but I still didn’t get through to interview.

Wondering if it was just an unusually competitive round this year, or if it's normally hard to even get to interview stage. If anyone did get through to interviews, would you mind sharing roughly what background/prep helped? Trying to get ready for the Semester 1 2027 round. Thanks!

Actually lately i realized that i need to back to my meditation ( antidepressants) no matter what. Because I usually have depression episodes every month very strong depression like thinking about h@rming myself etc. however, i booked an appointment with GP in monash Caulfield clinic. Do u think it’s easy to provide me a prescription for antidepressants? Because when i went to my doctor she told me to see physiatrist in Clayton with private clinic which coast 400$ per 30min 💀 very expensive! And my insurance doesn’t cover it cuz its private clinic.. I need medication asap in addition i have bad thoughts like am planning to sabotage my studying…… ( am international student) and struggling to finish my assignments. Do u know if there’s someone in uni i can reach to talk about my thoughts to help me before destroying my academic life. Thanks alot.

Do uninvigilated E-exam recordings ever get watched/reviewed?

I have a test tomorrow and caught the flu on Sunday. I submitted a special consideration form this morning with a med cert but was quite out of it and stuffed up the dates and added another assignment which I don’t really need it for. I submitted another one tonight after realising. Will this work? I’ve never done this for a test so I don’t really know how it works.

I was going to do a bsc in 2027 with either a major in ecology or zoology. How does the quality of these courses compare to other unis?
