Discussion 1440p WOLED or 4K IPS
I am looking for a new monitor to upgrade. I am stuck between the dilemma of either going for the WOLED in 1440p (ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQDMG Gen 2) or the IPS monitor in 4K (LG UltraGear 27G810A-B 27).
They are both 27 inch and I will be using it mainly with my Xbox series X along side some pc work. Please let me know what you’d recommend!

Discussion I'm looking for advice for buying monitor xiaomi or samsung
Hello, everyone!
I'm looking for advice and would appreciate it if you could share your own experiences—or those of anyone who knows about this.
I want to buy the "Xiaomi Mini LED Gaming Monitor G Pro 27Qi 2026," but I'm not sure if it's worth it or if it will last a long time. By "last a long time" I specifically mean reliability concerns typical of Mini-LED panels — I'm worried about whether the backlight zones could start developing banding/streaking (horizontal or vertical lines) or whether dead/black pixels could appear after just a few months of use, rather than it lasting for years. I know this version has problems with HDR, but that's fine with me. The most important thing for me is that it lasts a long time without such defects and gives pleasure to use. I'm not sure if it makes sense to overpay for it when I can get the Odyssey G5 2025—2K/Black/IPS/180Hz—for $258, while the Xiaomi costs $360. What really appeals to me about the Xiaomi is the Mini-LED technology and its ability to produce deep blacks, but is it worth it?

Discussion What monitor should I get?
My TV which I used to play my PS5 broke. Now I'm thinking of getting a monitor as I'm in a university dorm now and TVs take up a lot of space, plus in a couple years I'll invest in a PC and use whatever monitor I get now for the PC later so I don't mind getting something that's overspecced for the playstation when I should be able to make the most out of whatever I buy down the line anyways.
I definitely want 4k and 120Hz+, and I'm thinking I want a mini led too since Oled is a bit out of my price range and I definitely want some nice punchy contrast and dark blacks because I'll also use it to watch movies and anime too.
With all that said these are the 3 I'm currently leaning towards, which one do you guys think is the best? And if you have any other recommendations then I'd be down to check those out too! My budget is under £400 currently.

Discussion If you could buy any (large) monitor explicitly NOT labelled as SmartTV or gaming monitor?
Heyo amigos. Have a deal whereby we can spend up to [fairly large sum] on tech stuff, including monitors. I have enough laptops, would really like a huge monitor for, well you know, work purposes. Get those Excel sheets nice and large; Powerpoint in crisp detail. You get the point. My current monitor setup is 2 x 27" Samsungs, nice enough but can get a little cramped.
Does anybody have a recommendation for a really huge monitor, preferably 40 to 50 inches, that I can hook up to USB and whatnot, which explicitly ISN'T advertised as a Gaming Monitor, SmartTV or whatever frivolous stuff, so that it passes the corporate checks?
Let me add: I don't watch TV and have no interest in all that stuff, but it seems somehow that every monitor over 42 inches or so is made into a SmartTV.

Discussion Monitor stand/ hinge doesnt tilt
Recently bought an LG 24U411A-BN.
Can anyone let me know if this is how its supposed to be? LG says the monitor should be able to tilt from -5 degrees to 20 degrees. When I set up the stand, this is how the monitor stands.
I reached out to LG service centre and got a technician visit my home to get this checked out. He said its not a defective stand and this is how its supposed to be. If thats true then how will the monitor tilt? I feel like i got scammed big time.

Discussion PS5 Gaming Monitor Help
Hey guys, I’m looking to buy my first gaming monitor as for the past couple years I’ve only ever really played on TV or desktop monitors. Recently, I’ve been looking in to purchasing a dedicated gaming monitor and I’m in need of some suggestions. I’ve been researching a bunch in terms of specs and pricing, but what would you guys suggest for a 1440 p 27 inch IPS? Discussion Hot take: anything under 115 ppi is blurry.
BUT WAIT, before you come raging at me in the comments of this post hear my opinion why. Okay, so i have a pretty small desk ( 14 inches/36cm deep ) and behind my chair is something else. So i sit fairly close to my monitor, my current monitor is 180hz, 1440p, 99%srgb, 24 inch, 400 hdr. It’s around ~120 ppi my next monitor might be a 1440p 27 inch or 4k 27 inch. ( again, I dont have much space so can’t fit a 32 inch. ) i Might keep my monitor for 4-5 years. So yeah ig what’s your lowest ppi? Mine might be 115-120. ( ON A MONITOR. )

Discussion help for a ps5 pro monitor
hey all, I'm looking for support on which monitor to get for my ps5 pro. I have looked online for hours and every monitor has good and bad reviews which makes me back out of buying.
I'm looking for a 32 inch curved 4k monitor that's around 144hz in the UK. I think VA panel is what suits my needs and I currently have the S2722DGM which is good but isn't 4k. I mainly play single player games so visuals are very important.
Any help would be appreciated and I am stupid when it comes to this so dumb down anything you say so a simpleton like me can understand.

the question isn't 165hz vs 144hz, I know the difference between them is basically non-existent, it's if the horribly bad 35-45 ms pixel transition panel is a compromise worth the 5060?

Text Review [Review] ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCWM — 4K/240Hz, 1080p/480Hz, and why I prefer the 27-inch version
Disclosure: ASUS provided the PG27UCWM for review. Everything below reflects my experience with my specific review sample.
I recently reviewed the 32-inch PG32UCWM, and now I’ve spent approximately two and a half weeks using its smaller sibling: the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCWM.
Both monitors share a lot of technology, but the 27-inch model doesn’t feel like ASUS simply shrunk the same monitor. The smaller screen changes how sharp 4K looks, how usable the 480Hz mode feels, how naturally the display fits on a normal desk, and ultimately who I think this monitor is for.
After using both sizes, I think the 27-inch version might be my favorite implementation of ASUS’s new Tandem RGB OLED technology.
The main specifications
The PG27UCWM is technically a 26.5-inch monitor, although it’s marketed as a 27-inch model.
The main features include:
- 3840×2160 at up to 240Hz
- 1920×1080 at up to 480Hz through Frame Rate Boost
- Tandem RGB OLED panel
- Conventional RGB-stripe subpixel arrangement
- TrueBlack Glossy coating
- 0.03ms claimed response time
- DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification
- HDR10 and Dolby Vision
- DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20 with the full 80Gbps bandwidth
- Two HDMI 2.1 ports
- USB-C with 90W Power Delivery
- KVM, Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture
- ELMB and OLED Anti-Flicker
- OLED Care Pro with a Neo Proximity Sensor
- Three-year warranty that includes burn-in coverage, subject to regional terms
I tested the monitor using an RTX 5090 Astral connected through the supplied DP80 cable. My sample was running firmware MCM101.
Design and desk fit
The front of the monitor is relatively clean for an ROG product. The bezels are thin, and there’s a small illuminated section underneath the panel.
The back is much more aggressive.
It has a translucent housing that partially exposes the internal structure, along with an illuminated pixel-style ROG logo. I’ve always liked transparent technology because it reminds me of those clear Nintendo 64 consoles and Game Boys, so this design works for me.
It obviously doesn’t improve the image or make you better at games, and most owners won’t spend much time looking behind their monitor. Still, if your setup can be seen from multiple angles, this is one of the better-looking gaming monitors I’ve used.
The 27-inch model is also much easier to position than the PG32UCWM. The claw-style stand still occupies a noticeable amount of desk space, but the complete footprint feels substantially more manageable.
The stand offers:
- 110mm of height adjustment
- 30 degrees of swivel in either direction
- Approximately 5 degrees of downward tilt
- 20 degrees of upward tilt
- Full pivot into portrait orientation
- 100×100mm VESA mounting
- A quarter-inch accessory mount for a webcam, light or similar device
My unit felt stable. There was some movement when I intentionally disturbed the desk, but nothing I considered unusual or distracting.
4K at 27 inches looks ridiculously sharp
This is the biggest reason I like the PG27UCWM.
Packing 3840×2160 into a 26.5-inch panel gives you approximately 166 pixels per inch. Text, icons, fine lines, desktop applications and game details all look extremely clean.
The RGB-stripe subpixel layout also works naturally with how Windows renders text. I didn’t see any distracting color fringing from my normal seating position.
I was comfortable using 100% Windows scaling. That gave me a good balance between readability and usable workspace, although some people will want to increase scaling depending on their eyesight and viewing distance.
I used the monitor for:
- Web browsing
- Documents and spreadsheets
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- High-resolution image inspection
- Gaming
- HDR video
Premiere looked extremely clean. The timeline had plenty of definition, and high-resolution footage was easy to inspect. You obviously don’t get the same physical workspace as a 32-inch monitor or an ultrawide, but all the resolution is still available.
It took me a little time to adjust to the smaller interface, but I adapted quickly. I also liked that the monitor didn’t completely take over my field of view.
Games benefited just as much. Fine environmental details and small writing in Indiana Jones looked excellent.
I do want to be fair about the RGB-stripe claim. At 166 PPI, any good 27-inch 4K OLED is already extremely dense. A 27-inch 4K QD-OLED can also have excellent text quality. I’m not going to pretend this suddenly makes every QD-OLED look blurry.
The pixel density is doing a lot of the work. However, the combination of 4K, RGB stripe and the glossy optical layer produces one of the cleanest desktop images I’ve personally used.
TrueBlack Glossy and reflections
The PG27UCWM uses ASUS’s TrueBlack Glossy coating, which is currently my favorite monitor coating.
It gives the picture a clean, deep and almost glass-like appearance. There’s no obvious matte grain sitting over the image, fine details look direct, and colors have plenty of depth.
The coating also preserves darker-looking blacks under ambient light better than the original generation of 27-inch 4K QD-OLED panels. Those QD-OLEDs can develop a purple or magenta appearance when light hits the screen. That wasn’t an issue here.
However, glossy does not mean reflection-free.
In dark games and black loading screens, I could clearly see reflections from lights and objects behind me. Reflections became much less noticeable once brighter content appeared, but they never completely disappeared.
The tradeoff is straightforward:
- Reflections look sharper and more mirror-like than on a matte monitor.
- The displayed image doesn’t have the haze or grain associated with many matte coatings.
If you can control the lighting behind you, the screen looks beautiful. If the monitor will sit directly opposite a large window or bright light, you need to think about that before buying it.
Viewing-angle tint
Viewing-angle tint has been a common concern with these new Tandem RGB OLED panels.
On my sample, it was extremely minimal and difficult to see—even when I specifically went looking for it.
I didn’t notice obvious green tint during normal use or while sitting directly in front of the monitor. That doesn’t mean every unit will behave identically, because panel characteristics can vary. I can only report what I observed on the sample ASUS sent me.
Factory calibration and SDR performance
Every ROG monitor in this series is factory calibrated, and the report is specific to the individual panel. You can access it through the monitor or DisplayWidget Center.
The factory report supplied with my sample showed:
- 6546K white point in sRGB mode
- Gamma of 2.19 in Racing Mode
- Displayed color errors remaining below Delta E 2
I also ran a validation through ASUS ProArt CaliContrO. That attempt measured 190.14 nits, a 6478K white point and 99.96% sRGB coverage.
CaliContrO reported an average Delta E of 15.77, but that number needs context. The validation was targeting 80 nits while the monitor was actually producing approximately 190 nits. That large brightness mismatch heavily affected the score, so I’m not treating it as evidence that the monitor had poor color accuracy.
The important result for the out-of-box experience is the panel-specific ASUS factory report, which showed the monitor meeting its Delta E target.
For normal SDR desktop use, I measured approximately 190 nits in the sRGB setup with Uniform Brightness enabled. That was more than enough for my room.
With Uniform Brightness disabled, enlarging a white window caused a visible but gradual reduction in brightness as more of the screen became white.
With Uniform Brightness enabled, the monitor stayed much more consistent, although it sacrificed some maximum output to achieve that stability.
For desktop work, I preferred leaving Uniform Brightness enabled. Web pages, documents and applications maintained a more consistent appearance as I switched between windows.
Panel uniformity
Uniformity on my sample was very good.
At 5% gray, I could see a faint amount of normal OLED texture when specifically looking for it. I did not see any major vertical bands, distracting tint or obvious dirty-screen effect.
Mid-gray and white patterns looked even cleaner.
Most importantly, I didn’t notice any uniformity issues while playing games, browsing the web or editing video.
As always, uniformity can vary between individual OLED panels. These observations apply to my sample.
HDR experience
I wasn’t able to independently measure HDR peak brightness and EOTF performance with the proper HDR testing workflow, so I’m not going to present ASUS’s claimed 1,000-nit figure as if it came from my own measurements.
The monitor offers:
- DisplayHDR 400 True Black
- Gaming HDR
- Cinema HDR
- Console HDR
- Adjustable HDR
- Dolby Vision
Visually, HDR looked excellent with the right content.
DOOM: The Dark Ages produced bright fire, sparks and explosions against dark environments. Hellblade was useful for inspecting near-black detail. You get true OLED blacks directly beside bright highlights without blooming around everything.
This isn’t a giant Mini-LED light cannon. Large bright scenes aren’t going to illuminate the room like a powerful Mini-LED display. The impact comes from pixel-level contrast, saturated color, smaller highlights and the glossy presentation.
Overall, I got the deep blacks, clean highlights and rich color I wanted from an OLED gaming monitor.
4K/240Hz versus 1080p/480Hz
For slower single-player games, I would use 4K at 240Hz.
You retain the native detail, motion is extremely smooth, and the near-instantaneous OLED response avoids the dark smearing associated with many LCD panels.
I would much rather play Indiana Jones, Forza or DOOM at native 4K unless I had a specific reason to prioritize the highest possible refresh rate.
Frame Rate Boost switches the monitor to 1920×1080 at up to 480Hz. The screen briefly goes black while it changes modes.
I’m not going to pretend 1080p looks as sharp as native 4K. Fine HUD elements and distant geometry become softer.
However, this mode makes considerably more sense on the 27-inch monitor than it did on the 32-inch PG32UCWM.
On the larger display, 1080p can look rough when inspecting fine details. It is still soft on the PG27UCWM, but the reduced resolution feels more appropriate and much more usable at this physical size.
Once I stopped staring at menus and started playing, the refresh rate became the main thing I noticed.
In Halo Infinite and DOOM, the benefit was easiest to appreciate when the system reached several hundred frames per second. Tracking small targets and following fast camera movement felt clearer at 480Hz than at 240Hz.
Selecting 480Hz in Windows doesn’t magically make a game run at 480 FPS. You still need a fast CPU, powerful GPU and competitive settings capable of producing a sufficiently high frame rate.
For most games, I would stay at 4K/240Hz. For competitive shooters where I can produce hundreds of frames per second, 1080p/480Hz becomes a genuinely useful option.
The overlooked 1440p and 24.5-inch modes
One of the most interesting parts of this monitor is its flexibility beyond the two advertised headline modes.
The PG27UCWM can simulate a smaller 24.5-inch competitive display. This can be useful if the full 27-inch image still feels too large for games such as Counter-Strike, Valorant or Halo.
I tested the simulated 24.5-inch mode in Halo Infinite and found it surprisingly useful. The smaller active image kept more of the action near the center of my vision and reduced how far my eyes needed to move.
The monitor can also run at 2560×1440 and 240Hz.
That gives you a useful middle option:
- 4K/240Hz: Maximum image quality
- 1440p/240Hz: Lower GPU load while retaining more detail than 1080p
- 1080p/480Hz: Maximum competitive speed
1440p doesn’t scale perfectly into a 4K panel, so it looks softer than native 4K. It still looked noticeably cleaner than 1080p during gameplay.
This mode makes sense if your system cannot maintain the frame rate you want at native 4K but you don’t want to drop all the way to Full HD.
Just remember that 1440p remains limited to 240Hz. It does not unlock 480Hz.
VRR flicker and OLED Anti-Flicker
Adaptive-Sync worked with my RTX 5090, and normal gameplay was smooth and tear-free.
Like essentially every OLED monitor, the PG27UCWM can still exhibit VRR flicker when the frame rate changes heavily, particularly in dark menus, loading screens and near-black content.
In Diablo IV, I occasionally noticed mild flicker in dark menus when the frame rate changed sharply. It was much less noticeable during normal gameplay with a stable frame rate.
ASUS includes OLED Anti-Flicker, which reduces the active VRR range.
Using the middle setting reduced the visible flicker, but I occasionally noticed stuttering when the frame rate moved outside the narrower operating range.
I wouldn’t enable it automatically. I would try it only in a game where VRR flicker was bothering me enough to justify the restricted range.
ELMB
ELMB uses black-frame insertion to improve motion clarity at supported fixed refresh rates.
On the PG27UCWM, it is available at:
- 4K/120Hz
- Full HD/240Hz
It is not available at 4K/240Hz or Full HD/480Hz.
On my setup, enabling ELMB disabled both HDR and Adaptive-Sync. It also reduced brightness.
When comparing normal 240Hz, 240Hz with ELMB and standard 480Hz, I personally preferred 480Hz for competitive gaming. It provided excellent motion clarity without ELMB’s brightness reduction or fixed-refresh limitation.
ELMB still has a purpose for games that can maintain a stable supported frame rate but cannot approach 480 FPS. I just don’t expect it to be the default choice for most buyers.
Connectivity, KVM and USB-C
Connectivity is one of the monitor’s strongest areas.
You get:
- DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20 with 80Gbps bandwidth
- Two full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports
- USB-C with video and up to 90W Power Delivery
- Three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports
- USB upstream
- Headphone output
- Built-in KVM
- Picture-in-Picture
- Picture-by-Picture
I connected a laptop using one USB-C cable and received video, USB connectivity and charging. The 90W output should be enough for many productivity laptops, although a high-performance gaming laptop may still require its dedicated charger under load.
The KVM allows one keyboard and mouse to control two connected systems. PiP and PbP can display a second computer or console alongside the primary system.
The ports face downward, which makes cable insertion slightly awkward once the monitor is positioned on a desk. Apart from that, the selection is extremely complete.
DisplayWidget Center and AI Visual
Most monitor settings can be controlled using ASUS DisplayWidget Center instead of reaching underneath the display and navigating the physical OSD.
The software lets you change:
- Picture modes
- Brightness and color
- Inputs
- GamePlus features
- OLED protection
- Firmware settings
The application was stable and responsive during my testing.
AI Visual analyzes the onscreen content and automatically adjusts the display. In Forza, it created a brighter and more colorful image. In a darker game such as Resident Evil, it raised shadow detail.
The changes generally took a few seconds.
The results were useful, but AI Visual could occasionally become more aggressive than I wanted by increasing brightness, saturation or shadow visibility.
I understand the appeal for someone who wants the monitor to handle everything automatically. Personally, I preferred App Tweaker, which lets you assign specific modes to individual applications. It’s more predictable because the software doesn’t have to guess what you want.
OLED Care Pro and the proximity sensor
OLED Care Pro includes:
- Pixel cleaning
- Screen movement
- Screen saver
- Static-logo brightness adjustment
- Outer Dimming
- Target Mode
- Neo Proximity Sensor
The proximity sensor detects when you leave the desk, blacks out the OLED panel, and restores the image when you return.
On my unit, it followed the selected Auto-Away delay and restored the picture almost immediately when I returned. Detection was consistent.
You can adjust the distance, sensitivity and timer between one and 15 minutes, making it more useful than a fixed sensor that might switch the screen off while you are sitting still.
GaNFET cooling and thermals
ASUS uses a custom heatsink, internal airflow design and GaNFET power solution.
The company claims approximately 35% less waste heat and vent temperatures that are around 10% cooler than its comparison design.
I didn’t disassemble the monitor, so I cannot independently isolate the GaNFET module or prove those percentage claims.
What I could test was the completed monitor. After extended HDR gaming, the upper rear section became the warmest area, but I didn’t find the temperature concerning.
PG27UCWM versus current QD-OLED options
The PG27UCWM has several meaningful advantages over the current 27-inch 4K QD-OLED options:
- The TrueBlack Glossy coating preserves darker-looking blacks under more ambient-lighting conditions.
- It offers the 1080p/480Hz Dual Mode.
- It has a conventional RGB-stripe layout.
- The 24.5-inch simulation and 1440p/240Hz option provide additional flexibility.
QD-OLED still has strengths:
- Some models control direct mirror-like reflections better.
- Gray uniformity can be cleaner.
- Color volume can be slightly higher.
- At this pixel density, the triangular subpixel layout does not automatically produce poor text.
I’m not saying every QD-OLED is suddenly obsolete.
If a PG27UCWM and a comparable 27-inch QD-OLED were sitting in front of me at the same price, I would personally choose the PG27UCWM. I prefer the coating, I would actually use the 480Hz mode, and I love how 4K looks at this size.
Price and final verdict
At the time of writing, B&H listed the PG27UCWM for $1,199.
For many buyers, that will be the biggest problem. There are less expensive 27-inch 4K OLED monitors that offer the same basic 4K/240Hz headline specification.
The price doesn’t bother me quite as much because I’m evaluating the complete package:

This is clearly positioned as a flagship monitor rather than a value-focused option.
Because a monitor is something I use for hours every day, I’m willing to pay more to get the exact size, coating and features I want. That won’t apply to everyone, and someone primarily concerned with value may be better served by a discounted QD-OLED.
For me, the three biggest strengths are the sharpness, the 27-inch form factor, and the flexibility of combining 4K/240Hz with Full HD/480Hz.
The primary weaknesses are the mirror-like reflections and the premium price.
Overall, the PG27UCWM is currently one of my favorite 27-inch OLED monitors. It gives me the sharp 4K presentation I want for cinematic games and productivity, while still offering a genuinely useful competitive mode when I want maximum speed.
