Discussion Looking for gamers to chat about AI in game development (~1 hour, for a university thesis)
Hey all! I'm a bachelor's student researching how players feel about AI being used in game development with things like AI-generated art, dialogue, NPCs, bug testing, etc.
I'm looking for people who play games regularly and are willing to do an interview (video call or voice chat, up to ~1 hour, can be shorter if needed) about what you personally value in games and how you feel about AI's growing role in making them.
There are no right or wrong answers, I just want to hear real opinions. Everything is anonymous and only used for my thesis at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.
If you're up for it, drop a comment or DM me and I'll send over some times!

Discussion How do I use the bug net in Monster Hunter 2?
I'm trying to get the bonus objectives for the first quest in the game (main objective is to collect unique mushrooms, side objectives are for raw meat and royal rhinos). The wiki says royal rhinos can be found in zones 1, 2, 4, and 10 but the Old Bug Net is not usable at all. What am I looking for?

Discussion Nobody Saw It Coming, Goss Harag is the Scariest Bear! Day 64: Who is the Scariest Lizard?
The serial killer monster is the scariest bear? What a surprise. Both of these have been predictable so far, but I think this one should be interesting.
Winners Trivia: Goss has a special animation that it uses only when its target is stunned. It's pretty intimidating.
Rules:
- Any vote for anything in any monhun game is fine, as long as you feel it fits the title.
- Duplicate winners are allowed.
- Votes last roughly midnight to midnight GMT.
- Pictures and reasonings are encouraged!
- Multiple suggestions per user are allowed.

Art Nerscylla clone × Nakarkos - Theme
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The nerscylla clone theme is actually a version of the boss theme from FFV
It's my first time doing this, so I understand it doesn't sound great. I did my best

MH Wilds F**k Your Dithering V2 - Even less dithering now
Some time ago, after getting insanely frustrated with the amount of dithering in Wilds, and not finding a mod that removed it quite the way I wanted, I ended up making my own mod called Fuck Your Dithering.
A few days ago I released V2, which is a complete rewrite of the mod and fixes quite a lot more than the original version did.
Most importantly, it now gets rid of two things that were driving me insane: the heavily dithered shadows and those ridiculously dithered waterfalls.

It also handles a lot more dithering throughout the game now, including things like fur, seikret, hair, seikret's flame like effects, and some other nonsense dithering.
I've seen my mod mentioned in a few posts and comments here before, so I thought i could post the update myself, i don't see anything against the rules for that, especially since it fixes some of the things people previously pointed out that the first version couldn't remove.
There are probably still some cases I've missed but I'm actively supporting this mod and will be supporting it until next monster hunter game at least.

Stories I recently completed Monster Hunter Stories 1
I was never a fan of Monster Hunter, mainly because I didn't like the gameplay and because I always felt that not being able to tame the monsters was a waste. The armor you make with their materials is cool, but having a green dragon as a pet is way cooler.
So when a friend showed me that Monster Hunter Stories existed, it quickly caught my attention. I love the monster-catching genre (like Pokémon or Digimon).
I really liked MHS1. The monsters have incredible designs, the areas are beautiful, the side quests are pretty cool, and I find the den mechanic interesting. I prefer simpler systems, though, like the Poké Balls in Pokémon.
If I really had to say things I DIDN'T like, there would only be four:
-The bosses (especially the final boss)
-Cheval.
-The maps are very large.
-Not being able to remove Ratha from the team.
My problem with the bosses, especially the late-game ones, is that they had too many turns and did way too much damage, but I don't really feel it's fair to complain about that because maybe it was my fault.
Then with Cheval, my problem is that he was very irritating. I understand that he's a very common stereotype in anime-style games (like a Sasuke from Naruto), but personally, I found him irritating. (Note: I'm not saying he's a bad character, I'm just saying that I personally didn't like him.)
I understand that exploration is part of the essence of Monster Hunter, but I felt that walking around the maps was sometimes tedious, mainly because the movement of both the character and the monsters felt a bit slow.
I know Rathalos is important to the plot and all, but honestly, it bothers me that they take away a team slot until the very end of the game. It feels like playing Pokémon and being forced to have a team slot occupied by Charizard.
Everything else about the game was fantastic. I really liked the other characters and grew very fond of them (except for Navirou; I don't dislike him as much as Cheval, but he did get a little annoying). I recently started MHS2 (I've only played for 9 hours) and so far I love the improved graphics and that the characters aren't so "chibi" anymore.
After finishing MHS2 I want to play MHS3, I know absolutely nothing about the latter.
Oh, and this was my character and my team at the end of the game;

MH World Is there any reason why Monster Hunter: World has such a badly designed multiplayer system?
I've asked this around and apparently rise has better player to player connection? I was just wondering if it's a steam related issue or just the way the game was built.
And also wondering if there's anyway to make it less difficult to navigate the multiplayer system

MH Wilds New arch tempered Arkveld recored
Edit:I obviously meant personal record but I realized some might get confused or whatever.
So for context Ive been kinda wanting to do this quest solo but faster since I love the fight and there's something about Arkveld that's always just clicked for me. I recently made a new character where I used duel blades and hammer as my two only weapons since I wanted to get better with them and when I was fighting regular Arkveld I realized how much more aggressive I could be with them against Arkveld so I went straight to arch-tempered arkveld and with no warm-up against him I shaved I think 4 or 5 minutes off my previous time. I'm really happy about this lol

Discussion What an odd game
Playing at a higher fps relaxes my gpu? I'm so done with this port lol.
y'know as a MH fan, I've always thought that World/Iceborne is heavier than Rise/Sunbreak. But ever since buying the game, I've gone through a rabbit hole of how unoptimized this port is. I'm not gonna rant about all of it in this post, i just wanna share this weird thing.
for context i recently got a new gpu (9060XT), this thing is awesome runs World/Iceborne really well, Wilds also nice, but rise is something else lol. It was really confusing to see Rise stress my gpu at 90 fps, when i can get World to 165 fps at less load and Wilds at 70-80 fps at the same load.
I am really losing hope to playing this game normally since playing at 60 fps is also heavier than Worlds. If y'all got any tips on how you guys have optimized this game it'll be really appreciated
