(Velkhana concept art and griffin in dd2)

Since the new area is high up in the sky and has a castle and jagged rocks it would make the perfect terrain to introduce one since it’s a type of terrain they are frequently associated with.

Not to mention it’s kinda weird we haven’t gotten one already to be honest. (Also yes I was watching that one scooby doo movie abracadabra-Doo)

I love Lunagaron transforming from a regular wolf into a werewolf. Second favourite for me would be Rajang going Super Saiyan.

Discussion Hot takes: Hunter Style should not make a comeback

Post image
362 Upvotes

Please don't think that I hate GU. On contrary, I love it. It just I have strong feeling about hunting styles. I think Hunting styles is hell to implement because some styles feels it got shoehorned to the weapon it was not supposed to be behaved like that and its a balancing nightmare.

In Generation Ultimate each weapon have 6 playstyle that could be very different in gameplay loop and which moves you should be focus on. Making the game practically have 84 weapons available to play excluding the prowler.

"But more is better right, you can pick and choose whichever style that suits you"

Here's the thing: not all styles are equal in power and in practicality to use. Some are objectively better than the others. Guild style is the default styles that plays mostly the same as previous titles. The other styles are the derivative of that guild style which they add and substract the movesets. So it's very easy to get overwhelmed and lost because each styles becomes very different with each other with different moveset value as well that must be considered so you do know which style actually worth investing your time to get used to.

Let's be real here, facing with choices of different hunter style and weapon. All of you must do some research or asking in some forum first before deciding which style you pick. Some styles being better are not always very obvious. Like striker lance for example. How could you ever know its charge attack deals most damage than normal unless you search for it first?

This whole thing create a situation where only 2 or three styles from each weapon that worth to use. And some style with weapon are absolutely broken because it eliminate the balancing factor to prevent it from being OP (Valor HBG) without having another measure to prevent such thing.

The five styles that derived from the guild (Aerial, Adept, Striker, Valor, Alchemy) act as a box that must be filled with each weapon. IMO some weapon wasn't fit on such boxes. Like why would you want aerial gunlance? Or aerial HBG? Valor Lance is kinda impractical and play like a frankenstein of movesets. Some styles kinda not suit to the weapon identity imo. Which makes them weird, weak, and not fun to use either

That's why how Rise have its switch skill is the right direction to inherit the DNA from Hunter style and Hunting Arts. The next "portable 6th" (Strong quote unquote here) should use switch skill of they want to have a MH game with customizable movesets like in Generation or Rise.

If you say "Just use whatever you feel fun". Here's the thing, for vast majority of the case, the most fun is the meta combination of weapon+style. Not only the meta being objectively better stat wise. They are mostly the most fun to play as well. Back again with the issue of balancing between styles, it going to be an absolute nightmare. And most likely impossible to implement in modern MH with how already packed each weapons are with new moves and mechanics

Leak / Datamine MHOutlander's possible usage of generative AI for placeholder/concept art Spoiler

If ur active on the leaks sub you've probably already known this but MHOutlander's has seemingly been using AI to make some art for the game, so if that is something that turns you away that may be the call to make depending on who you are.

I'm not going to do much more writing and will just show many different images from the games assets that prove my point the most, starting the things i am the most sure about

At first glance you might not tell but look at the head of the nergi on the right, look closely at the nergi on the left, and the banner in the top left
This one is quite clear LMAO
if you've seen the flagship it should be clear here, also nonsensical effects and dust and the way the felyne holds the gs

Here are some weapon icons that are also pretty clearly altered from a base image

are we fr rn man
this one is harder to tell but you kinda gotta look at the lines and how weird they are

These there could be some doubts about but are still shady either way

You mostly have to look at the small details and how they change slightly between these (the gold bits on the side slightly shift between the 1st and 3rd chest).

same situation with these pendant concept(?) illustrations

Its much harder to tell due to resolution but the details here seem quite nonsensical kinda, but feel free to see it how you will

This is all I really have to show, take everything as you will, mostly just wanted to let more people know about this so they have a more informed decision if they want to play the game or not bc yk how some people are.

MH World Is there any reason why Monster Hunter: World has such a badly designed multiplayer system?

I've asked this around and apparently rise has better player to player connection? I was just wondering if it's a steam related issue or just the way the game was built.

And also wondering if there's anyway to make it less difficult to navigate the multiplayer system

I haven't been around for the previous expansion releases, but both of the previous once showed MR armor sets when they were showcasing the new weapon moves. I'm really curious on what armors we're gonna see.

Discussion My issues with Insect Glaive MHwilds

Post image
111 Upvotes

Now from what I have seen from others opinions on the mhwilds insect glaive, is that the rotation of getting extracts then doing a few combos then hitting rising spiral slash (RSS) and then rise and repeat is more annoying than fun. Personally, I love the that rotating, because back in world my rotation was the standard ground combo then jump into the air to perform descending thrust.

My main issue with the weapon is the absolute atrocious defensive options, IG has the worst offset by far, i swear its like IG has the least amount of frames for you to actually land the offset, and even if you did land it you are more than likely going to miss RSS because they didnt give IG a follow up attack after getting the offset.

And the lackluster evasive options, the backward vaulting is garbage, because you can only go backwards, and that also has very little frames of invulnerablity, and the mid air evade shouldnt even count as a reliable form of dodging, it is especially annoying when yoi realize that IG has really long animations as well.

The reason why people compare the vaulting to world's IG is because back in world you could reliably dodge a decent amount of attacks with the vaulting alone. But in wilds where hit boxes are bloated to oblivion there is little to no chance of you dodging anything by going into the air.

IG is still usable obviously, but i just cant get behind the idea that IG out of all the weapons lacks reliable evasive options, like bro hammer has a better evasive than IG that's insane. I still love the weapon but seriously this is making people lose love for it. Hopefully ascendance gives the IG better evasive options or better yet, make the weapon fast enough to not need evasives.

MH Wilds F**k Your Dithering V2 - Even less dithering now

Some time ago, after getting insanely frustrated with the amount of dithering in Wilds, and not finding a mod that removed it quite the way I wanted, I ended up making my own mod called Fuck Your Dithering.

A few days ago I released V2, which is a complete rewrite of the mod and fixes quite a lot more than the original version did.

Most importantly, it now gets rid of two things that were driving me insane: the heavily dithered shadows and those ridiculously dithered waterfalls.

??
Pixel art waterfalls

It also handles a lot more dithering throughout the game now, including things like fur, seikret, hair, seikret's flame like effects, and some other nonsense dithering.

I've seen my mod mentioned in a few posts and comments here before, so I thought i could post the update myself, i don't see anything against the rules for that, especially since it fixes some of the things people previously pointed out that the first version couldn't remove.

There are probably still some cases I've missed but I'm actively supporting this mod and will be supporting it until next monster hunter game at least.

Edit: Some of you guys are asking ne for the source so I went looking for it..... And turns out I was lied to, they made it look so convincing too and I got so excited that I just wanted to share asap.

So, yeah guys, there isn't anything online confirming this "fact". Sorry for not doing the research sooner, I'm gonna leave the post up for the day just so people know this isn't true, then imma take it down myself if no mod does so.

Discussion Iceborne Monster vs Sunbreak Monsters results.

Thumbnail
gallery
16 Upvotes

Yesterday was a very close call, with both combatants having very good arguments, but in the end, Shara Ishvalda proved he is the top dog of the underground. Now we have tallied the results:

First Wave:

Coral Pukei Pukei vs Aurora Somnacanth: Aurora Somnacanth had the elemental advantage to take down Coral Pukei (Win for Sunbreak)

Nightshade Paolumu vs Blood Orange Bishaten: Nightshade probably lucked out and put Bob to sleep in the middle of the fight. (Win for Iceborne)

Fulgur Anjanath vs Magma Almudron: Fulgur Anjanath tried but Magma Almudron was too much for the electric brute Wyvern to handle. (Win for Sunbreak)

Acidic Glavenus vs Pyre Rakna Kadaki: Acidic once again proved he is a subspecies not to be trifled with. (Win for Iceborne)

Beotodus vs Lunagaron: Beotodus realized he ain’t built for this. (Win for Sunbreak)

Banbaro vs Garangolm: Garangolm’s elemental arms proved to give Banbaro a huge run for his money. (Win for Sunbreak)

Namielle vs Espinas: Despite having an elemental disadvantage, Namielle won. (Win for Iceborne)

Semi Finals:

Frostfang Barioth vs Violet Mizutsune: Violet Mizutsune was too fast for Frostfang to keep up with, and eventually he was engulfed in flames. (Win for Sunbreak)

Ruiner Nergigante vs Scorned Magnamalo: Yeah…… You tried your best Scorned, too many fart jumps not enough time. (Win for Iceborne)

Velkhana vs Malzeno: This was indeed a VERY close fight, both had REALLY good arguments, but in the end Malzeno walked away but with hypothermia. (Win for Sunbreak)

The Final Round:

Shara Ishvalda vs Gaismagorm: This was the most challenging one yet as both are arena elder’s that exist in two completely differently game stats, so lore stats came into play, and in the end, Shara came out on top. (Win for Iceborne)

It’s 6 to 5 wins, Sunbreak Monsters are victorious.
