Discussion Looking for gamers to chat about AI in game development (~1 hour, for a university thesis)
Hey all! I'm a bachelor's student researching how players feel about AI being used in game development with things like AI-generated art, dialogue, NPCs, bug testing, etc.
I'm looking for people who play games regularly and are willing to do an interview (video call or voice chat, up to ~1 hour, can be shorter if needed) about what you personally value in games and how you feel about AI's growing role in making them.
There are no right or wrong answers, I just want to hear real opinions. Everything is anonymous and only used for my thesis at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.
If you're up for it, drop a comment or DM me and I'll send over some times!

Discussion Which monster has the best powered up?
I love Lunagaron transforming from a regular wolf into a werewolf. Second favourite for me would be Rajang going Super Saiyan.

Discussion What is your Birth village, your “found home” village and your vacation village?
To further explain what was your village you first started MH in, The village that so far has stuck with you as “this feels like a forever home to me, and the village that you enjoy the vibes like a special getaway trip.
I’ll go first
- My birth village: kokoto village (MH 2004)
- My forever home: pokke village (MH freedom 2/freedom unite)
- My vacation village: Milard village (MH online) (bit obscure but the day and sleepless summer night themes were absolutely peak!)
Edit: I didn’t expect for so many hunters to report in about their hunting life and homes! I wish I could respond personally but I’ll definitely be reading them.
HAPPY HUNTING!!! 👊

Discussion Hot takes: Hunter Style should not make a comeback
Please don't think that I hate GU. On contrary, I love it. It just I have strong feeling about hunting styles. I think Hunting styles is hell to implement because some styles feels it got shoehorned to the weapon it was not supposed to be behaved like that and its a balancing nightmare.
In Generation Ultimate each weapon have 6 playstyle that could be very different in gameplay loop and which moves you should be focus on. Making the game practically have 84 weapons available to play excluding the prowler.
"But more is better right, you can pick and choose whichever style that suits you"
Here's the thing: not all styles are equal in power and in practicality to use. Some are objectively better than the others. Guild style is the default styles that plays mostly the same as previous titles. The other styles are the derivative of that guild style which they add and substract the movesets. So it's very easy to get overwhelmed and lost because each styles becomes very different with each other with different moveset value as well that must be considered so you do know which style actually worth investing your time to get used to.
Let's be real here, facing with choices of different hunter style and weapon. All of you must do some research or asking in some forum first before deciding which style you pick. Some styles being better are not always very obvious. Like striker lance for example. How could you ever know its charge attack deals most damage than normal unless you search for it first?
This whole thing create a situation where only 2 or three styles from each weapon that worth to use. And some style with weapon are absolutely broken because it eliminate the balancing factor to prevent it from being OP (Valor HBG) without having another measure to prevent such thing.
The five styles that derived from the guild (Aerial, Adept, Striker, Valor, Alchemy) act as a box that must be filled with each weapon. IMO some weapon wasn't fit on such boxes. Like why would you want aerial gunlance? Or aerial HBG? Valor Lance is kinda impractical and play like a frankenstein of movesets. Some styles kinda not suit to the weapon identity imo. Which makes them weird, weak, and not fun to use either
That's why how Rise have its switch skill is the right direction to inherit the DNA from Hunter style and Hunting Arts. The next "portable 6th" (Strong quote unquote here) should use switch skill of they want to have a MH game with customizable movesets like in Generation or Rise.
If you say "Just use whatever you feel fun". Here's the thing, for vast majority of the case, the most fun is the meta combination of weapon+style. Not only the meta being objectively better stat wise. They are mostly the most fun to play as well. Back again with the issue of balancing between styles, it going to be an absolute nightmare. And most likely impossible to implement in modern MH with how already packed each weapons are with new moves and mechanics

MH World Is there any reason why Monster Hunter: World has such a badly designed multiplayer system?
I've asked this around and apparently rise has better player to player connection? I was just wondering if it's a steam related issue or just the way the game was built.
And also wondering if there's anyway to make it less difficult to navigate the multiplayer system

Discussion Hear me out: how sick would it be if we got Griffin elder dragon for the new area in the dlc
(Velkhana concept art and griffin in dd2)
Since the new area is high up in the sky and has a castle and jagged rocks it would make the perfect terrain to introduce one since it’s a type of terrain they are frequently associated with.
Not to mention it’s kinda weird we haven’t gotten one already to be honest. (Also yes I was watching that one scooby doo movie abracadabra-Doo)

MH Wilds F**k Your Dithering V2 - Even less dithering now
Some time ago, after getting insanely frustrated with the amount of dithering in Wilds, and not finding a mod that removed it quite the way I wanted, I ended up making my own mod called Fuck Your Dithering.
A few days ago I released V2, which is a complete rewrite of the mod and fixes quite a lot more than the original version did.
Most importantly, it now gets rid of two things that were driving me insane: the heavily dithered shadows and those ridiculously dithered waterfalls.

It also handles a lot more dithering throughout the game now, including things like fur, seikret, hair, seikret's flame like effects, and some other nonsense dithering.
I've seen my mod mentioned in a few posts and comments here before, so I thought i could post the update myself, i don't see anything against the rules for that, especially since it fixes some of the things people previously pointed out that the first version couldn't remove.
There are probably still some cases I've missed but I'm actively supporting this mod and will be supporting it until next monster hunter game at least.
