Mod Post REMINDERS

Good Morning!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. It’s been a while since we posted any reminders, and I’d like to touch on a couple of issues that have come up recently.

With the shortage, we’re seeing a lot of questions related to dosage and availability. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

The half life of Mounjaro is five days, and it takes about a month for the medication to completely leave your system. Because of the shortage, many people are going weeks or months without injecting. The manufacturer recommends starting the titration schedule over if you’ve gone more than two weeks without a dose.

While this advice might not pertain to everyone, it’s important to evaluate your previous experience with the medication before injecting a higher dose if you’ve been off the medication for a while. Chances are, if you’ve had moderate to severe side effects in the past, you’ll have the same response (or worse) if you jump back to a higher dose.

One way to mitigate this outcome is to contact your provider and ask about lowering your dose temporarily if you’ve been waiting for your script for longer than a few weeks. I understand that nobody wants to lose ground when it comes to their progress. But given the alternative (a reoccurrence of side effects that can potentially derail your treatment entirely) it may be the best option.

Frankly, the number of posts I’m reviewing from people experiencing negative side effects after suspending their treatment is alarming. The purpose of this medication is to improve your health, not make things worse.

And as always, when in doubt, please consult your provider. They are the best person to ask when it comes to dosage.

As far as side effects, there’s a few things that everyone should remember:

While gastric side effects are listed as common when taking Mounjaro, severe nausea paired with uncontrolled vomiting or diarrhea is not. Complications from diarrhea and vomiting include: dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, fainting, and heart rhythm abnormalities. Negative outcomes from this treatment are rare, but occur most frequently when people ignore debilitating side effects.

We’re here to support each other in our journey towards better health. Sometimes that support includes directing a person to their provider for advice. Especially when the post includes phrases like “I can’t keep anything down,” or “I’ve been throwing up for two weeks,” or “I’m too weak to stand.”

Crowdsourcing advice when you’ve reached that level of distress is not advisable. And medical oversight is a must.

Another question we see quite frequently: “I’ve only lost (fill in the blank) pounds this week (or month). Is this normal?”

Invariably, the answer is “yes.” What’s normal when it comes to weight loss is highly subjective. A quick search of the subreddit will provide first hand accounts that run the gamut when it comes to how fast (or slow) a person loses weight. If you still have questions, we’re here to help. But please, include the relevant information needed to offer advice, such as: dosage, co-morbidities, starting weight, caloric intake, etc.

People are here to treat a wide variety of conditions. Any or all of these conditions play a role in how fast we see results. It’s natural to be impatient. But don’t assume that the treatment isn’t working because the scale hasn’t moved for a week (or three). During my weight loss journey, there were many weeks that I didn’t lose a pound. On two occasions, I stalled for over a month. In the end, I reached my goal, and chances are, you will as well! I wish there were some sure-fire words of wisdom I could provide to ease your mind, but there aren’t. The best I (or anyone else) can offer is: trust the process. Obesity is a complex issue on its own. Pairing obesity with the metabolic issues such as diabetes, insulin resistance, and PCOS only further complicates the treatment.

Lastly—in order to address the availability issues, we started a chat to help people source their medication. Here is the link.

I’ve read a comment (or two) recently from a few folks who were put off after being directed to the availability chat. We created the chat in response to other folks who messaged us because they were tired of seeing the posts related to the shortage. Which goes to show—there is no perfect solution.

Weezie and I do our best to be responsive to the needs of the community. If we redirect you to your provider for medical advice, or to the availability chat for sourcing, or to the search feature to answer a commonly asked question, it’s because we want you to receive the best advice/support available. The mods and your fellow community members genuinely want to help!

Have a great week!

Mounjaro helped me on my journey of losing 15 stone and to this day I will always praise it for being the life saving drug it is.

If you’re sat on the fence and looking for transformation evidence then here it is.

I start my new job tomorrow and I never dreamt I would be wearing these style of clothes.

Success Stories 60lbs in 7 months.

(m63)What a freeing experience! I was skeptical at first, and then I saw it happen. I struggled with my weight after I had knee replacement during the pandemic, gained more than 35lb between 2020 and 2025, then got the cherry on top: T2 diagnosis. If I had settled for controlling my blood glucose, I would have sold myself short. My blood pressure is under control, arrythmyia has abated, my bg is stable, and I can climb stairs without getting winded. The thing I never expected was how well I can tolerate heat and humidity now. I actually enjoyed being outdoors in the summer!

Diet and resistance training were paramount, but the absence of food noise and the unexpected mood stabilization has helped keep depression in check as well. I'm so very pleased.

Success Stories Getting close to Goal Weight (6month update)

Upvotes

Female, 30. Starting weight: 81kg

Month 1 (2.5mg): -5,3 Kg

Month 2 (2.5mg): -4,5 Kg

Month 3 (2.5mg): -1,7 Kg

Month 4 (2.5mg): -3,1 Kg

Month 5 (2.5mg): -1,2 Kg

Month 6 (5mg): -3,8 Kg

Month 7 (5mg): TBD

Current weight: 59,5 Kg (Gw: 55 Kg)

Do I count my calories ?
Not really but with all the diets I used to be on I'm quite aware of the number of calories I eat. I eat around 1200 calories on average.

Do I do sport ?
No...I went to the gym here and there but nothing consistent. I have not been in the gym or reached my steps target in months.

Do I drink ?
I was never a big drinker or partyer. I do drink a few cocktails (rum and coke zero) when I go out, maybe once or twice a month.

Do I eat clean ?
Not always. I don't eat a tone of veggies, mainly protein and carbs. I eat one protein bar evey day. I eat simple food (steak and potatoes, salmon and spinach, chicken and rice). I don't order take aways anymore, or buy a bunch of junk food (chocolate, cake, chips etc.). But there is no food I'm forbidding myself from eating.

PS: Not asking for opinions or judgments here. Only sharing my journey in case it can help anyone. Don't hesitate to ask me questions if you have any.

Good luck to everyone !

Success Stories A couple of wins to celebrate…

I started my journey just over a year ago after previously trying Ozempic and continually being sick. Awhile back I posted about being stalled just above 200 lbs and then eventually celebrating getting under that.

I have a few more wins I want to share with you all:

  1. I just bought a whole bunch of new swimwear. Everything that I owned previously was too big and I need some for a vacation coming in a few months. Now, when did I discover that everything else was too big? Did I try it on before a weekend getaway with my family? Sure didn’t! Nope, I tried it on the morning of our visit to a waterpark and then spent 8 hours desperately holding it on while I braved the waterslides.

  2. This led me to - full revamp of upcoming vacation wardrobe. I pulled out everything I was thinking I would take (you know, right when I said I was super organized for future trip…) all too big. Queue a small splurge on clothes that I feel good in.

  3. My weight loss and renewed efforts on building muscle resulted in me participating in an activity with my family that, pre-journey, was impossible. A ropes course was firmly out of the question and guess who did it this past weekend? Me. Every muscle hurts and I’m taking that as a win.

I knew the numbers on the scale dropped and I looked smaller. But I didn’t realize that looking smaller was the result of dropping over 8 inches on my thighs, 6 from my stomach and more.

For whomever is reading this, I hope that you find success on your journey. When it gets challenging and you feel like stopping, try to find a path forward. You can do it.

Success Stories Down 33 lbs today. Realizing I’ve dropped the equivalent of a full packed suitcase off my body made me tear up a bit.

SW: 198 | CW: 165 | GW: 140 | 5'6" (Month 5)

I’ve had weeks where the scale didn't budge and I felt like nothing was changing in the mirror. But hitting 33 lbs down today and actually picturing a 33 lb suitcase that I used to struggle lifting into an overhead bin... it really hit me how much physical strain my body was carrying every single day.

A few things that helped me get through the plateaus:

- Prioritizing 90-100g of protein even on days with zero appetite.

- 80-100 oz of water + electrolytes (completely solved my fatigue issues).

- Taking photos instead of obsessing over daily scale jumps.

To anyone in their first couple of months: trust the process, the changes add up even when you can't see them day-to-day.

Experience Week 1 In The Books!

That's a wrap on week 1.

SW: 93.5kg (206 lbs) - CW 91.3KG (201 lbs). Height 5'6. Age: 39. Female.

Down 2.2kgs or around 5 lbs - water weight and maybe a little actual weight. I did 4 hilly walks (1 hr, 120 metres or 400 foot climb) and no strength training but am looking to add this in for week 2 - just simple at home stuff.

Side effects were a little nauseous, a little headachey about 48 hours after the jab, dry eyes (this went away after 24 hours) I brought some eye drops to help this along and a little loose stools (but no cramps accompanied with it).

Just taken my jab for week 2.

Protein - hit 100+ grams every day and have increased my dietary fibre to around 20-25 grams daily. I have electrolytes on days that I do my hilly walks and if I'm feeling headachey. I drink around 2.25-3 Litres a day (84-100 oz).

I think this is a pretty standard first week right? I feel glad to have lost something but am well aware this is mostly water weight. Very intrigued to see how week 2 goes.

How did your first week go?

Experience “I think when you have, you can tell”

I bumped into someone I hadn’t seen for a while and they messaged me after saying oh you are looking great! I thanked her and said oh I’ve lost nearly 7 stone (96lbs) and I’ve been using the jabs.
Now I am in no way a “secret jabber” I just dont blast it all over my socials but I’m happy for people to know.
Her response was “I kinda assumed that and I think when you have you can tell”
Initially I wasn’t bothered by this, however now I’m massively over thinking it 🤣
She can tell like oh you look great and skinny
Or oh I can tell because you look like shit 🤣
People are so bizarre 🤷🏼‍♀️

Question Riddle me this: what do you eat?

Like the title says! I am just about to titrate up from 7.5mg to 10mg and have noticed a marked further decrease in my appetite since moving up from 5mg, to the point where I have legitimately forgotten to eat on several days (this was a real mindfuck when I realized…that has literally never happened to me before).

I would estimate that I am currently eating 500-800 calories per day but food holds zero interest for me at this point. This is great for my vanity and my waistline as I’m down approximately 23 kilos/50lbs in 3 months, but I am starting to consider what will happen when I reach maintenance dosage in a couple of months and run out of fat to lose (to put it crudely).

I have T2D so am also on Metformin which further depresses my appetite, and am sticking to the lower carb end of things.

Looking for advice, tips, you name it.

Question disappearance of food noise can be surprisingly strange

For those on Mounjaro/GLP-1s who’ve lost most of the food noise, did it take you a while to get used to simply eating less?
I skipped breakfast today, went to lunch, ate some eggs and chicken sausage and could barely eat a few bites of a pumpkin pancake. I wasn’t nauseous or feeling bad. I just wasn’t hungry anymore, but psychologically I felt like I should eat more.
I hear a lot about appetite suppression and weight loss, but not nearly as much about the mental adjustment of realizing you just don’t need or want the amount of food you used to eat. Anyone else experience this?

Should this be an easy switch? Ozempic gave me some really bad side effects so my Dr. wants me to go on Mounjaro.

Success Stories One year update

Post image
765 Upvotes

I’m a 45F, PCOS, and subclinical reactive hyperglycemia. I spent two decades as an obese person. I am thankful that I did not have prediabetes, and all blood tests on normal range, but my blood pressure and cholesterols that were slowly creeping up. I had daily pain from arthritis.

Last year at my annual physical I was told by my Doctor that I was very likely 5-10 years away from experiencing health complications caused by my Class 3 obesity, and would likely need daily medications to control these issues, despite the fact that I was not sedentary and that I was a vegetarian.

I told him that I knew how to lose weight, but that it was really difficult for me… that even when I was in a significant calorie deficit that corresponded to losing 2lbs per week, I’d rarely actually lose 2lbs. I also shared that trying to maintain any losses made me feel like I was an unwilling participant in a CIA Black Ops psychological torture experiment 🤪

Got on the tirz, drank my 2-3L flavoured water daily, increased my movement, made certain I was in a daily calorie deficit that matched my weight loss goals, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Former BMI of 40.1
Current BMI 24.4
Lost 103.2 lbs in 365 days.
Now at medically normal weight.
Looking to lose maybe 20-30 more lbs, for vanity.

My arthritis pain? Very very well controlled now.
Blood tests back: cholesterols in “optimal” range.
Blood pressure always in optimal range now, despite taking stimulant medication for my adhd.
Food noise: virtually gone.
Appetite: hungry when appropriate
Satiety: moderate to high
Cravings: rare, and quite easy to dismiss.
1 mini binge” in 53 weeks. Down from 2-4/week

Dosage details
• I use a kwikpen.
• Moved from 2.5 to 5 on my fifth week.
• later, i titrated up “more slowly” than 2.5mg at a time, usually 1-1.5 mg at a time, whenever I felt medication effects noticeably waning
• With doctor permission, I started dosing every 5th day in my 4th month. Have gone every 5th or 6th day since then.
• Calculating my total medication taken per month, and dividing by 4, I’ve maxed out at 13.5mg/week as my highest dose so far.
• my doctor does prescribe a 15mg pen for me to click dose off of, and if cost is a concern, I highly recommend that
• I use the golden dose. I extract it with an insulin syringe.

My sizes:
Past me was filling out a size 2 or sometimes 3x at Torrid. In Old Navy I was just barely able to wear XXL in looser fits. Now I’m comfortably in a size medium at every store I go to!

I used to be a 42DD or DDD. Now I’m a 34G.

My shoe size went from 9.5-10 to 8.5-9.

My ring finger went from 7.5 to 5.

Success Stories One year: Update and advice on goal weight

Post image
175 Upvotes

It's officially one year on Mounjaro. 100 pounds/45 kgs lost and I've discovered I love weight training, which has been amazing as someone who always hated working out.

I've also been lucky to be able to stay at 2.5 mg. It has been a hugely transformative journey but as I approach my first goal weight I'm wondering how other people decided where to stop. I had initially put 200 pounds/90 kg becuase at 310 pounds/141 kg that felt like an unimaginable amount to lose. Now I'm approaching that and ideally, I'd like to lose some more.

BMI says I should be at around 76 kg to be "healthy" for my height but not sure I want to push it that much. My goals are basically to have a good quality of life and be able to do stuff like skydiving etc without having to worry about weight limits.

So, has anyone else who started at a higher weight with similar goals change their mind as you approached the first marker? How did you eventually decide where to stop? Thanks very much!

Maintenance Question on maintenance

I’ve lost 40lbs and sitting at a steady weight of 135-137. I’ve been cutting my 5mg in half to 2.5 dose. I’m wondering if I should try and ween off or just stay at 2.5?
The main effects I like is the blood sugar stabilization as I rarely get the “ fainty’s” . I do get hungry and stomach growls but it doesn’t bother me to bad and I just have some yogurt.
My weight has held for 10 mths.
It definitely doesn’t feel the same as it did when I first started, I can eat more than 2 bites now but I’m still very careful not to overeat.
If you went off completely how did you do? If you have stayed on 2.5mg how long had it been?

Question Allergy or Side Effect?

I did my second shot (2.5) last Wednesday. I had noticed after my first shot that I had some lip tingling but I get that kind of randomly and there was no swelling so I freaked out for a minute and then moved on.

To preface: I crazy high allergy anxiety because I live in a country that does not have easy access to epinephrine as not many people have allergies. About two years ago I had a bad reaction to a food and found out none of the hospitals near me at that time could really help me.

After my second shot on Wednesday, I had that same lip tingle and my anxiety SKYROCKETED. I then had a bad episode of silent reflux with that pulling feeling on my clavicle which only made things worse. There was no swelling on my face but I started to feel like because of the pulling feeling I couldn’t sit and breathe well. Standing and walking around was fine. And then I got diarrhea, which is a common side effect of the shot and the week before I was also pooping with ease so I didn’t connect the dots to allergy.

This was about 1.5-2 hours after the shot. I then took some allergy medicine because it helps the reflux feeling a little bit and I didn’t have reflux meds on me at the time. About two hours after that I felt normal enough to sit down without feeling the horrible reflux / clavicle tightness, though I did still have some acid reflux happening.

Can anyone reassure me that I’m just in my head? I have my third shot tomorrow and will be doing it at my doctor’s office which is near an allergy center just to be ABSOLUTELY safe.

My doctor seems to think that because there wasn’t swelling or a super itchy feeling that it was just reflux + anxiety.

Logically it seems like an allergic reaction would first have a skin reaction or some swelling signs instead of just being like ‘CHOKE AND DIE LADY.’

12.5mg People are starting to notice

SW (May 2025): 256.0
CW (August 2026): 177.0
GW: 125.0

I’m 5’4”.

I did a good job initially losing weight, but between December 2025 and June 2026 I stalled out at 200 pounds (I was going through some medical stuff at the time). I’ve dropped a little over 10 pounds between June and now, and it’s like people are finally starting to notice. My coworkers don’t say anything (but I would think they notice?), but my family finally has started to say stuff. Has that happened to anyone else?

Question How long to be on Mounjaro? Pls share journey.

I ate Rybelsus — it’s the oral/tablet form of semaglutide ( ozempic) last year and I went from 87 to 81 in 3 months but also worked out 4-5 times a week. I can’t seem to go to 80 or below.

Then I stopped and my weight bounced back to 84-85. I feel more toned with muscles from my work out - can tell from the fit of my clothes.

I’m on Mounjaro now; now I’m on my 3rd pen, started with 2.5 and 5. I decided to stick to 5 because anymore I might feel nauseous. So far I’ve already spent quite a bit and tbh it is quite expensive.

Just wondering what’s everyone journey? How long? How they feel? I noticed that I still feel hungry but like I feel full easily and by dinner I’m still full but before I sleep I feel hungry again 😱😭

Question What to eat when struggling to eat/nauseous?

During my first days of the dose and especially in the morning I struggle to eat and feel nauseous if I eat anything that is “too heavy”. I used to eat Greek yoghurt for breakfast and with mounjaro I find it hard, and I’ve found that I can drink kefir instead. Does anyone have any suggestions in “lighter” ways to still eat without upsetting my stomach?
My main issue with this is that I might not eat a “proper” meal until 4pm in the day and by that time I’m quite hungry and will choose less wise food options with high sugar, and I would like to keep a balanced eating getting my necessary nutrients.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions!
