Recently discovered Ngozi Family. Heard a few tracks then found this album. Absolute fire. Is anyone else familiar? Can’t get enough of the fuzziness of it all. Sonically, it’s amazing. It’s lead me down a rabbit hole of experimental garage rock and I’m here for it. 10-10.

This album was nothing short of absolutely brilliant. None of the songs miss and Dolly will forever be an icon. May she rest in peace.

The sound that Dolly Parton has created in this album and across her career is so iconic and is instantly recognisable. Everything about the sound of the album is amazing. Dolly's vocals are incredible, and the instrumentation is absolutely fantastic. Her songwriting skills are seriously on another level.

I have four songs in this album that particularly stood out to me:

9 to 5: What an absolutely iconic song. I never get tired of hearing this. I just absolutely love it. It's an incredible opening to the album.

House of the Rising Sun: What a frickin brilliant cover. I think I actually like her cover more than the original. The vibe and atmosphere she brings to the song are beautiful.

Poor Folks Town: An absolute bop and banger of a song. Seriously, this song is just amazing I absolutely love it, everything is just flat out incredible.

Deportees (Plane Wreck at Los Gatos): Dolly's cover of this song is absolutely heartbreaking and I felt every word of this song ring within my soul. Just absolutely beautiful.

I don't think I have any critiques about this album. I genuinely think that this album is just absolutely brilliant.

Overall, definitely in my top 25 albums, and it's just beautiful and amazing there will never be anyone like Dolly Parton. RIP

Not just iconic covers or pretty art. One that makes you think or feel?

Two come to mind:
Alice In Chains "Jar of Flies." For some reason, I've invented a whole backstory for that boy. He's old enough to experience loss or sorrow but still young enough to not understand why. I've always thought he's captivated by the jar because it serves as a distraction from whatever issue he's dealing with in his life. The song that I always think first of when I hear of that album is Nutshell, and the melancholy nature of the song seems to provide the background to the image on the cover.

The Roots "Things Fall Apart." The woman's expression on her face is that of sheer terror. I realize it's a picture during race riots during the civil rights movement. I don't know much more but I know whatever happened to her, it was absolutely horrible.

What are yours?

That die on this hill song is so famous and is constantly played everywhere I go. Also the midnight sun song is awful. That’s not at all a brilliant melody nor pleasant to hear. I feel like production has become so minimal, it used to be very punchy and layered. Anyways that’s fine I don’t have to listen to it’s just so confusing to me how we got to this point with what does successful. I actually thought Chappell Roan was great though! I think good luck babe is brilliant
