We made 0xTamil, a Discord server and subreddit for people who are interested in learning and exploring low-level programming, especially C, Linux, OS development, compilers, embedded systems, and related topics.
We created this because we want to build a community around learning the fundamentals and understanding how things actually work. We are not trying to make another general tech community.
We have also put a lot of effort into our megathread, which is a guide for beginners who want to get into programming and eventually explore low-level topics. We try to provide a proper path instead of just throwing random resources at beginners.
Our community is still small, but there are people who are genuinely passionate about this stuff. Sometimes we have discussions, share resources, help each other, and hop into VC to talk about random low-level topics.
We also prohibit low-effort AI-generated content and vibe coding related stuff. The goal is not to blindly generate code and call it programming. We want to encourage people to learn the fundamentals, understand what they are doing, and actually explore things themselves.
Our megathread is one of the community projects we have been working on. In the future, we also plan to work on more community projects, including something similar to an Awesome Linux collection and other useful resources.
Some people might ask, "Yennada idhu, already niraya tech subs irukke?" 😭
Fair enough. But this is not meant to be another normal tech sub. We just want to build a small community of people who are genuinely interested in these topics.
