Lived on Treasure Coast for the last 20 years. Thinking about visiting Naples for a weekend, first time here in the middle of September. Assuming its a slower time of year but any recommendations for hotels/bars or restaurants? Thanks

Birdies Gelato Naples

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience. We signed our contract nearly a year ago at an agreed-upon price, only to be told shortly before our wedding that the price would be increasing due to rising costs of goods….Because the original contracted price was not honored, we unfortunately had to cancel.

With our wedding less than two months away, we are now left without a gelato vendor and, despite these circumstances, our deposit is not being refunded.

I completely understand that costs can increase, but I believe a signed contract and agreed-upon pricing should be honored. I’m incredibly disappointed with how this was handled and wanted to share my experience with other brides considering this vendor.

With that being said- do you guys have gelato or ice cream vendor recommendations ?

Would anyone be interested in starting a Homeless Kit campaign

Last year, I started to carry homeless kits around, basically just a ziplock bag with some food and hygienic items such as tooth brushes and wipes, things I can get at dollar tree. I know there aren’t as many visible homeless in parts of Naples, but there are a few in golden gate, as well as surrounding cities. I’m just one person though, would anyone be interested in making it into a community thing?

Well they are plowing ahead with construction. The support deck is in place, they should be installing the re-bar for all the concrete soon. Then forming and pouring. Plus they have been slowly driving piles out to the end but that's going to be a bit as I imagine they want to get the concrete for the center pavilion done. Pretty impressive so far. They removed the "stairs" up to the storage trestle. Not sure why. Do love the look of the end of the trestle, it reminds me of Johnny Fives eyes peeking over the beach. ( For you young folks, go watch "Short Circuit" for that reference ).

90s Homesick - Recommendations

I grew up in Naples in the 90s and early 00's. It's been a long time since I've been there. I've been feeling homesick so we're planning a trip.

Anyone with 90s or early 00's memories have any ideas of some 'must do' things for our trip? All input appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

PRMS & BCHS alum. Go panthers / cougars!

I heard King Richards closed. That made me so sad!

Edit: totally get that it’s changed a lot. Looking for what you love about it now. :)

Birding recommendations near Naples?

Thumbnail gallery
19 Upvotes

Hello everyone, this coming February I'm spending 2 weeks in Naples for the primary purpose of birding (with a new camera!!). This year I was only here for 5 days, and the places I'm definitely planning on return to are corkscrew swamp and wakodahatchee wetlands. Does anyone have any birding recommendations?

I'm interested in all species, beaches, forests, wetlands. I'm also used to some pretty intense birding at home, trudging through mud, bugs etc. I'm willing need to go pretty far and make a day trip of a location if needed. Thanks

And here are some of the lovely birds I got to see this year in Naples.

Towne Center 6 Permanently Closed - Now what?

I recently moved back to Naples & was saddened to learn that the theater I grew up watching classics like “Jurassic Park” is CLOSED! Last I was here, they had renovated the seating, what did I miss?

Is there any chance of revival? All the local theaters are so far away! I personally loved the “town charm”. Are there any rich people that can make this happen?

Looking for advice on pet surrender

I’m currently in ave Maria visiting my mom. She has two dogs and unfortunately she works as an overnight in home health aid so there’s at least 4 days the dogs are home alone. We’ve tried calling every shelter in a 20 mile radius and every shelter is fully and by appointment only. What other options are there? I’m only here until next Sunday, so I’m hoping to get this resolved by then.

I’m looking for fresh San Marzano tomatoes in the Naples area. Anyone know where they may sell them? I like making my own tomato sauce at this time of year!

Thanks!

If you could live anywhere in Naples, and money was no object, where would you choose?

I’ll go first: Aqualane Shores or Royal Harbor because we love living on the water with a boat in our backyard close to downtown!

Learning to golf!

I’m a 19yr old guy and have grown up in Naples my whole life, one of the biggest things about this place would certainly be the golfing part, I’d love to pick up a new hobby and make some more friends. If anyone would be willing to teach me/invite me out to play I’d love it, age or gender doesn’t matter much to me but I’ll admit I may need to borrow some clubs if we end up going out 😅

Ortho Advice.

I need advice. I am actively trying to join the US Navy but I was declined due to “wrist stiffness” in my left hand. I didn’t even know it was an issue because I never had any wrist pain or problems my whole life. I want to join to follow my father’s footsteps and have a good career. I was told I need an official orthopedic evaluation to clear this issue, but unfortunately I don’t have health insurance. I am freshly 18 and barely scraping by as is and I can’t afford insurance (hence another reason I’d like to join.) I don’t know what to do or where to go that wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg to get this evaluated and cleared. Any help is appreciated.

Young adults

F 26, Naples local since 2020.
My fiance & I are looking to meet more young adults as most of our friends have moved/are planning to move and our group keeps getting smaller! I’ve looked at Naples run club, naples girls walk club, soccer groups, etc. But looking for other similar groups that don’t necessarily relate to physical activity.
Also thinking about starting a euchre or game club for people in their 20s if anyone would be interested in that!
Would love to hear any suggestions

Kilt Violin Guy at Dunkin

Anyone know anything about this guy? Guy wears a kilt that stands at the entrance of Dunkin' in Naples Park playing violin some days, and places a sign right out the drive-thru that says Jesus saves or something. Today he was at Dunkin' in Bonita doing the same thing. He looks super skinny, I assume he's homeless.

Moving From Chicago to Naples: Suggestions for activities around town

Hi everyone!

I am moving from Chicago to Naples to be closer to family. I am quite a bit nervous as I grew up in the Midwest and really love Chicago. I've been to Naples / Bonita a handful of times and I always love a little Florida refresh.

I am 30/F and single. I work in fashion and research, but adjusting into a new career. I love physical activities like bike riding, walking, paddle boarding, etc. I am very active in the art scene here - I love gallery crawls, going to various museums, concerts, and film festivals. I have a lil pup that basically goes everywhere with me! I am open to trying new things - I've been wanting to do Tai Chi and boxing...I'm currently doing archery for fun (I am terrible). I am half way decent at tennis, pickleball, volleyball, and various other low stakes sports.

I know Naples will be quite different, but I am excited to see what the city offers. Let me know what you love to do!
