Seeing the posts about the Harbour Grace Barbarian MC doing their little 'autism support drive' I thought I'd bring some insights. These are not autism support drives, I can almost guarantee they are not donating any money at all. This is a MC club hosting an event RIGHT IN TOWN, to brag and show off their sex workers that they've brought in for the week. The thing that makes me most embarassed is how a NEWS organization could publish their little prosititution advertisement and put it on provincial news!

What happens is the Ontario/main chapter sends a pimp (aka a wellness consultant) with sex workers (these people are trafficked!) to their smaller chapters for a week/month or whatever. They host an 'event' in the community...basically a show of the girls that are in town....then they move on to the next chapter and keep doing it. These people are not sublte (or smart)...this is all advertised on facebook and instragram. The wellness coach will advertise his 'rehabilitation room' where you can get therapy for all that ails you (aka time with a sex worker).

sex trafficking, racist SS tattoos, moving drugs to your community....all under the guise of 'autism lunches'. what a joke. Where is the RCMP on this? where is the news? why is this happening right in our cities and communities and we can't even notice?

Firstly, I have signed up for Patient Connect, but I’ve heard of people waitlisted for years to get a family doctor through them. How long have you been waiting if you have been?

I’m very grateful we have walk in clinics and Medicuro. Don’t get me wrong. However, when you’re not an actual patient of these doctors, I find it quite difficult to feel satisfied in my appointments.

Currently, and the past few years, I have had a few abnormal results on my bloodwork. My last family doctor said she wasn’t concerned, however this is something that keeps decreasing, and needs more investigating at this point. Another thing she wasn’t concerned about, is continuously increasing.

So, I brought these concerns up to a Medicuro doctor. At first, he was not looking at my right bloodwork, he was looking at my old results from 2025. So he wasn’t understanding what I was talking about at first. When I pointed this out, again, I was met with a “I’m not concerned, but I’ll send you for an ultrasound, and I’ll have someone more experienced call you.” I brought up the other thing that’s been off and he said “yeah that’s been off twice now, I can prescribe some medication for that”, when in reality, other results that were associated with this were normal? It was very clear he was not looking at all my results.

I feel dismissed. Like no one is taking my concerns seriously. My kidneys are functioning at 65% as a 33 year old woman, and they are “not concerned”. Well, I am. And I want a doctor to look at my blood panel as a whole, and help me. Without a family doctor, your concerns are either addressed by giving you medication without further testing, or you’re just told you’re fine.

I’m so frustrated and I don’t know where to turn anymore.

I don’t think they are trying to diminish anything, just attempting to get it back on track. You can’t be this far in the hole and continue. Thoughts?

I had no idea it was THAT expensive to stay at Fogo Island Inn. Like, starting at $2500 a night! But I've wanted to go since it opened a while ago, I always thought it looked like such a unique vacation.

We're on a roadtrip from ON here, so driving a lot. Mainly sticking to 10% over rule. But one big question, when we're driving through a small town or just a 50km/h zone I slow down to 60, the people I took over earlier now all of a sudden catch up to us quick and start tailgating.

My question is, what's the acceptable speed in small towns then? Since it looks like people just keep going 80km/h straight up ignoring the 50 signs...

We're looking to move to Newfoundland (St. John's) as a couple and have a very hard time finding an apartment. We prefer furnished since we are coming from far away, but mostly have given up on this filter because it's just way too hard to find. We would prefer something close to downtown or maybe around MUN. One or two bedrooms, but a decent size. A parking space would be nice, doesn't have to be covered, just not on the street (bad experience).

It's challanging especially remotely and hotels cost an arm and leg for 1-2 months of hunting locally, we were hoping to secure something before our move.

Is there some secret place where these ads are posted or where one should look? I mostly looked on Marketplace.

I'm also open to any general tips about moving to St John's, and appreciate the insights from locals.

Decided to use map quest because of the whole Lake Ontario issue. Anyways here’s my review using the app in Avalon Peninsula:

1. Navigation is not that bad. I’d say it’s at par with Google and the routes are pretty similar.
2. Traffic data is available but could be better.

Some(most are updated)

1. Location names are outdated as in you have to put in the street address of a place instead of their commercial name to find it.

   Like if you’re going to TACO bell(which just opened this year) that’s there. But if you’re going to say sunridge apartments that won’t show up.

2. UI is a cleaner than Google maps and has less ads but can be a bit quirky.

3. Construction reporting, etc like waze is not there, a bit disappointing but they kinda make up for that with traffic data.

4. For example, if you’re going to someplace outside town it’ll sometimes show you the nearby but wrong destination. Not a biggie but just something to note.

Same goes for pedestrian mall, if you guide to a place instead downtown it does show the road closures because of pedestrian mall.

TLDR; usable with some minor quirks. Will recommend.

I’m brand new to St. John’s and berry picking is my most favourite thing to do in the world. Im going to go exploring to see if I can find any berries but so far this place feels so urban and disorienting:( im willing to drive a little ways for a good spot and am mostly focused on blueberries! (Bakeapples too if anyone is kind enough to share a spot they know, but I respect that these spots may be a bit too personal to share!!) coming to town has been honestly pretty stressful and would love some familiarity:)

I'm planning to hike the Grand Codroy Way and Lewis Hills in mid-September, which overlaps with rifle season. Is it better to just stay off these trails during that time? I'll be wearing blaze orange regardless, but I'm also curious whether either trail tends to see more hunting activity than the other. Any local knowledge appreciated.

Went to Newfoundland this summer and had a great time. St. John’s was really fun and the harbour towns were full of life, great sights and foods.

Can’t help but wondering, what’s life like in Newfoundland outside of the summer and when tourism is at a low. Like how’s petty harbour? Is dildo brewing busy? What about downtown St. John’s? How about Gros Morne and all the other areas?

Also how do you drive these streets in the winter!

Hi folks, originally a Bluenoser currently living in BC - but considering moving to back to the east coast.

Have heard from a few people that Corner Brook is a great place for outdoor rec that is somewhat comparable to the west coast, with the benefit of living on the best coast! The missus and I highly value outdoor rec but also a nice, safe community.

Mostly curious about the lifestyle/community, affordability within or surrounding area for housing. Also wondering if anyone has input on environment work locally as I’m a biologist (mostly freshwater fisheries but have experience in various disciplines).

I was on the phone with them about my mat leave not even a couple hours ago and I just got this text from “Service Canada” using a non-gov website and a shitty fake signature. Is the timing just unbelievably creepy or should I be worried?

I should clarify: I know it’s definitely a scam, but more so worried about the absolutely spooky timing of this scam attempt. The fact that I had just been on a call discussing payments was super creepy!

Brian Callaghan has been the permanent host for the show now for a few months. Just wondering on any feedback on how he handles the show and does anyone miss Paddy Daly as much as I do?

I was at the Avalon mall a couple weeks ago and hit a post in the underground parking garage while turning. I took it to body works on O’Leary and they quoted me about $6000 for it because they said I’ll need a new door shell.

I’m a first time driver and I’m scared to put it through insurance because it will be considered an at fault accident and I don’t want my premiums to rise. I’m even more afraid to have another accident in the future with another vehicle which would definitely need to be reported and then potentially have two at fault accidents against me in the future.

Any suggestions of where to check out?
