Monthly Motivation Thread NoFap's "Awesome August" or "PMO-Free August" 2026 - continue or begin your PMO-Free journey here (see instructions).
Hello all,
It's that time of the month again! One month is ending, and another is beginning. We hope you've had a good month. But if you haven't, now is a great time to refocus and rededicate yourself to recovery. This is your opportunity to create the new porn-free you!
New to NoFap and rebooting? Here are some suggestions:
- Learn about the website, porn addiction, excessive masturbation, sexual compulsivity, and abstaining from PMO. Read through NoFap's main website to get informed.
- Read about the basics of rebooting here. Rebooting is the abstinence from certain sexual behaviors to recover from pornography addiction. Read about how porn addiction develops here. Some people go beyond rebooting and into the territory of retention, or sexual transmutation for periods of time, although that is not the main purpose of this subreddit (which is RECOVERY).
- Consider reading through the free Getting Started PDF from NoFap's website.
- Download NoFap's in-browser panic button extension that blocks NSFW subreddits too. Download here
- Decide if rebooting is something that you really want. If you don't buy into the process 100%, you'll probably not make it through the month. If you have decided that you would like to participate, proceed to the next point.
- Sign up for this month by replying to this submission. It is that simple. State your intention and stick to it!
- Consider setting up a day counter badge to track your progress.
- Ask questions and get support by posting on NoFap. Set a goal to remain accountable by making a post daily. Help others. Come here every day and participate.
- If you need additional support, you can get an accountability partner and document your progress in a daily rebooting journal.
Would you like to participate? If so, please reply to this thread with the following information.
- Are you not going to allow yourself to masturbate? View porn? Orgasm whatsoever? Not allowing any outlet for sexual release is called "hard mode".
- How long do you want this challenge to last? By default it is one month, but 90 days is recommended for rebooting.
- What are your goals?
- Why are you doing this?
Arriving late? (past the first of the month?)
It's okay! Still state your intentions and don't postpone rebooting based on the day of the month. People can join in at any time to participate.

Mod Note: We suggest NOT USING REDDIT'S DIRECT MESSAGES due to porn trolls trying to disrupt the community. Also, please note that some posts are temporarily removed prior to appearing on r/NoFap.
Hello r/NoFap community members,
Please note that we highly suggest that you avoid using the Reddit direct messaging system entirely, due to porn trolls coming here to disrupt our porn addiction recovery peer support community. Some of these people pretend to be helpful at first, then will message pornography. It's in a similar vein to how a forum on epilepsy was reportedly hacked to display seizure-inducing images.
You can disable direct messages in your Reddit settings by changing "Who can send you chat requests" to "Nobody."
Secondly, please note that sometimes posts are flagged automatically for manual review prior to appearing on r/NoFap.
Due to Reddit’s anti-spam filters and NoFap’s additional filters to control spam and pornography, sometimes genuine posts are flagged as potential spam or pornography. Further, entities within the legacy porn industry have been attempting to de-platform porn addiction recovery forums such as r/NoFap, and we must remain extra vigilant to ensure that rule-breaking posts do not appear on the platform for even one second. If your post gets flagged, please just wait for a moderator to approve it.
Thanks for reading :-)

Telling my Story Day 65 - I feel this relationship is slowly healing me
I stopped fapping 65 days ago, and I will say the biggest thing that has helped me with this is my relationship.
Since I stopped, I noticed especially the last 2-3 weeks, I have a bit more confidence and calm, and I can talk to people easier. I won't say I had social anxiety before but I was always not the type of person to really talk to people I didn't know or have confidence in that respect.
I noticed it's a lot easier talking to strangers now, I find it more effortless and I even spoke to someone at the gym yesterday, something I never have initiated by myself ever.. for a year I have been going to the gym on my own, getting the workouts in and going home.. it hasn't felt the same since my gym buddy passed away. But yesterday I made a comment to someone and started talking like I'd known them a while, the dopamine hit was insane and I was so proud of myself lol.
I also noticed I'm horny for my gf more now, and it feels good. I had sex with her 3x when she stayed overnight at the weekend and it was amazing, it felt real, genuine and I was in the moment, not doubting my performance or anything like that. It feels like slowly my brain is rewiring.
Sure, I still find other women attractive and I still like what I like, but I can enjoy that thought and not get horny or get the urge to fap so much.
I posted the other day that X nearly made me relapse. I urge y'all to stay off that if you can. Anything that might trigger you, avoid like the plague.
Reddit is helpful cause you can toggle off the NSFW stuff here and have a wholesome feed.
Anyway, keep going all of you and best of luck.

Journal Check-In 50 days without pornography
Today marks 50 days and 12 hours since I last watched pornography. I have to admit I’m incredibly proud of myself. A huge part of the credit goes to my girlfriend; she was my main motivation for quitting this crap. After these 50 days, I’ve noticed a definite improvement in my mood and general well-being, much better sex with my girlfriend, and a stronger desire to spend time together. There’s less anxiety and discouragement. I definitely recommend that anyone struggling with this addiction fight it. My goal for the coming days is to reach the 60-day mark.Today marks 50 days and 12 hours since I last watched pornography. I have to admit I’m incredibly proud of myself. Day 202
Daily check in. A pretty good day at work. After work, I worked out at the gym and then played Minecraft. I'm still standing!
Motivate Me I need help. seriously.
I have been trying to kick this habit for close to 10 years. I have had streaks of 30/60/90, even 180 days. But I still somehow end up watching PMOing again.
I learnt a few things. I let go of this "all or nothing" attitude. I'm learning new things, new patterns, new emotional triggers, new parts about myself everyday, due to this journey.
But it's so hard man. I realise my life would be far less frictionless with a good NoFap streak. The reason is strong, the will is there. But a few days into the journey my will wanes, my reasons feel far fetched.
I had a DB relationship for 2 years (she realised she was asexual) that put me right back to porn use. She realised she was asexual, and though I know it isn't my fault - it hurt my feelings and masculinity. I know it's stupid, but it did.
I'm losing ways to hold on, and I feel like crying. But the weird thing is that my emotional tank is fully siphoned off - and I don't feel emotions strongly at all, thanks to porn. It has become my crutch.
My life is getting better from the outside. Have a job that is good, trying to study on the side, working out 3-5times a week, have hobbies and friends/family I care about. But this ONE HABIT is so fucking hard to beat. I keep getting very close to giving up, and saying "fuck it", let it be, I will relapse.
I don't know what will propel me further. This sadomasochistic, dark, parasitic habit is so fucking hard to let go of. I realise how addicted I have been to this. So very, very addicted. I forgot to enjoy the smell of grass, the hug of a friend, the melody of music. I am just a degenerate shell of a man walking around.
This will most likely get swept away in the thousands of daily posts here, not expecting any replies. But I guess it's a cry for help. I really don't know what to do anymore. I have tried so many things and am exhausted. I have tried religion, meditation, gym, everything. I am honestly so tired. Maybe this is who I am, a forever addict.
I miss myself when I wasn't an addict. I miss how memorable life was. I wish I could go back and stop myself from the first time I was exposed to porn.

Journal Check-In I Deserve way better
this is my 17 streak i'm pretty sure that i'm gonna end this habit swear god it will be my last one
I'm gonna make it,
I have to.
Question I basically haven't skipped a day since I was 14, how do I stop?
I'm 20 now.
I don't know if I should try stopping alltogether of if I should go in slowly, but every time I try to figure it out I end up getting back into it.
This summer I feel like it got worse and I'm starting to worry, mostly because of the many stories I've heard around.
On one side, people are telling me it's fine, that everybody has urges and it's ok to indulge into them, that it's "human". But on the other side, I'm doing it multiple times a day for several days back to back.
The last straw came recently, when I was at it once again, hating myself a little bit for it, and when I finished nothing, and I mean NOTHING, came out.
I know I have to stop or find moderation, but I don't know what the difference between moderation and relapse is and I'm scared that if I suddenly stop, my body would back fire with some abstinence side affect.
Looking for you to get through September with me
Hey guys,
I am addicted since Like forever. And I started fighting the urge when I got together with my girlfriend about two years ago. Of course with ups and downs. For years I watched differrent things and played a lot of porn Games. AI Chatbots are even more hard for me. And I relapsed for different reasons a few times these past two years. But I still managed Good Streaks inbetween. And I want to keep going and stay strong for my girl.
Everytime I relapse it takes it‘s toll on our relationship and on our intimacy. And that is something I don‘t want at all.
I am looking for like-minded people, to stay true to ourselves this September and the time ahead.
German would be great, but english is Fine aswell!
keep it up, folks!

What Is Your Greatest Challenge? (I'll try and help)
What is your greatest challenge when it comes to quitting porn? I have a very long period without PMO. I'll try and respond if I have any insights.
I am doing this in large part out of curiosity to see if things are the same for most guys ( which I suspect). But also want to offer some value.

New to NoFap Don’t know where to start 😞
This is tough to write, but this seems like the place to get some help.
I’m in a relationship, my bf was always used 🌽. I never really got much out of it myself, so I didn’t really care that he still liked it even after we started dating.
Our sex life has gone down over the past year or so and I think watching that stuff has impacted us both a lot.
I’m worried about him, worried about our relationship, but really worried about myself too bc I never used to watch it alone, but now it’s like every time I open my phone I scroll through something.
I guess I’m just ranting but I’m looking to get better for myself and hopefully help my bf too. I lurked here before but made a new acc to be more active and accountable.
This sucks but I’m glad there’s a community for this stuff at least.
