What is the point of holding onto these players? To me, it lowers the chance that your actually high potential get the development changes on the first of the month... Am I missing something? This is why I also keep my farm as thin as possible. Like 26 men per level.

I started a save (OOTP26) with the Reds, and in my first season we made the NLDS (lost to the Dodgers in 5 games). Had a fun season. Nick Martinez pitched his balls off. That HR/9 and FIP- were crazy! But he's 35, and we have a new contract for Elly kicking in, and the Reds dont have a lot of money to work with....

What would you do? I'm leaning towards trying for a 1 year deal, but I think he'll reject it. On the one hand, his pitcher profile is perfect for Cincy because he doesnt give up HRs, but cant I find something similar elsewhere? The 60 overall from my scout seems pretty inflated.

Essentially the title. I'll have pitchers with high stuff potential and it isn't as direct as 'Improve Control's or 'Increase Movement'. I usually look at improve secondary pitches. If they are you g with more velocity potential I will have them improve velocity. Are those the best ways for me to get stuff potential gains?

He's been good (albeit injury-prone) in the regular season, but goes nuts every year in the playoffs. My A's team has won 4 consecutive World Series, and lost in 7 games in 2029. (That 2029 loss was heartbreaking, Vlad flew out to CF with 2 outs and the bases loaded in a 1-run game at home to end it). 2032 was the most impressive run out of all of them, he hit .400/.412/.877 with 9 homers in 16 games while playing the entire playoffs with 2 different DTD knee injuries

I've been playing since 2020, and I've always felt this sinking feeling that I'm somehow hurting my team's chances / warping the result when I decide to manually play out my games vs just hitting the sim button.

It feels like the wild pitches and balks are genuinely out of control, and the rate at which I seem them is crazy compared to real life. I've never seen a balk when watching a baseball game outside of highlights, yet I'll see one every couple games when playing. I have 1-3 passed balls (which always results in the runners scoring or advancing) regardless of my catcher or pitcher's abilities

I understand that we tend to remember the crazy stuff that happens and forget all the times it doesnt happen, but I play such a small subsection of the games (usually only playoffs) that I feel like my rates are insane. I just tracked my stats for the post season, through almost 2 errors a game and multiple games with 2-3 wild pitches/runs scored off wild pitches. I've even seen a handfull of inside the park HRs from some slow ass people

I don't know, I'm probably just salty from the latest post season L, just I want the experience to be authentic and it'd be frustrating by me just essentially watching that I'm somehow warping the gameplay because of a potentially weird simulation

106-56 lost WS (dominated games 1-2 then lost 4 in a row 1 run games) a bullpen which had given up 1 run in 19 innings in the DS and CS gave up like 15 runs from games 3-6.

100-62 (Lost DS to an 85 win team 3-1) 3 SPs under 3.20ERA imploded

106-56 (lost Ds to an 88 win team 3-1) hitting and defense imploded (lowest rated defender is 65) walkoff passed ball.

I literally cannot get over the hump. It’s not even fun because it feels like the game is screwing me.

I’ve followed baseball my entire life as a diehard. I know this type of stuff can happen. But I have a team of 3.5-5 star players losing to 2-3.5 star teams regularly.

Theres literally nothing I can do to make the team better or to fight the randomness. I manage every playoff game with the same strategies that brought us success and brought me to the WS.

I’ve tried playing the matchups and analytics to a T, I’ve tried playing hunches and letting my gut decide it.

I have a team ranked in the top 3 in every single category and then just absolutely implode in the playoffs. I’ve done this with the 11th highest payroll and a meddling, extreme profit owner.

I'm in Year 2 of a (hopefully) long-term fictional world save with the Braves. Had a solid season and won the East, and due to all three division winners finishing 92-70 we somehow got the tiebreaker and the 1-seed, and ended up playing the Wild Card Dodgers in the NLCS. What followed was a truly wild series. Three of the five games ended via walk-off. It had pitching duels, late-inning heroics, bullpen meltdowns, questionable manager decisions, and ended on a walk-off walk to tie everything together. If it happened in real life it would have been must-see TV.

We ended up going up 2-0 on Colorado in the NLCS as well, but the Rockies rattled off 4 in a row to beat us, and went on to beat Baltimore in the World Series for their third title in 5 years (I guess even year BS exists in this world too). Oh well, we try again next year.

Hi all, just wanted to share a fun little AI use case I did in my most recent historical playthrough of the expansion Mets. I thought it might be cool to see the players on my team reimagined as Mets, so I found their cards from the year I’m currently on in my save (1970) and asked GPT to change around the uniforms and the card text, it came out OK - not perfect, but certainly a fun way to waste some time while having fun in a historical save.

So I play with ratings off just for realism and the challenge. But to do this, I like to export the player stats throughout the leagues so I can better see how players in and outside my org are doing. And by that I mean all stats available (normal stats, 'superstats') just to build my own "database" of the save to inform decisions. I do this through the player search page in the game using a custom view (basically just choose all stats). The game exports them as csv files where I can manipulate/filter the data in the csv or in a streamlit app I made for this.

When I go to export them, I get a bug where I have to export one page at a time. If I did each level (MLB to like A ball), it would take around twenty minutes and just generally be a pain to do. Because each page for a league is exported with the same name as a csv. So would require renaming each one before going to the next page to make sure they don't overwrite, repeating this for every page, and than using a script to merge all the pages, for each level. It's entirely impractical.

And I know there is a setting under game settings I believe where you can set it to either use scroll bars or pages. I've tried that, it just doesn't make a difference. Tried restarting the game as well with and without the setting, etc. I think the game just stops using scroll bars at a certain point. I know this a niche case, but I feel like there should be some way to export all player data in an easy in your save, in a game like this. I know there is some special export functions but I don't believe they actually export most of the more advanced stats or superstats. If anyone knows a way around this, it would be much appreciated.

Curious who people would take first, as Rains comes with a higher floor, and is Durable, while Webb has higher potential, and isn't too far behind developmentally given his age.

When you have a 16 year old prospect who has a current overall on the higher side, will it ruin his development if I put him in the DSL immediately? If they look good enough for rookie ball can I even start him there? Is there any benefit for leaving a guy in the international complex if they are a lower overall? How do you guys approach the DSL and International Complex?

How do I stop my Triple Crown winner from regressing? I have a player I want to rack up historical numbers with, but he gets slightly worse every year and his ratings consistently drop despite maxed-out hitting development sliders, top-tier coaches, and great team morale. The player development screen shows positive changes, but my scout reports a constant decline, and I am trying to figure out what I am missing. Thanks in advance!

Additionally, at what age do pitchers and hitters officially stop developing? We have all seen the classic 25-year-old "low floor, high ceiling" prospect, but if they haven't broken out by 26, is it time to call it quits?

Playing as the Rockies, and out budget is pretty tight. I've already got 2/3 current stars on my team signed to long-term contracts, and I'm worried if I extend the other one it'll be them three and a bunch of AAA players on my team for the next 10 years.

The guy is question is George Lombard Jr. who for some reason turned into a generational 2B. 11 WAR season in 29, and then has only played in 68 and 116 games the next two seasons respectively due to injury (picked up the fragile tag sadly). I've made the WS two out of the last 3 season but never won, so I'm worried that if I trade him I'll lose my window to win.

I can get a pretty good prospect return on a trade with the Angels right now, the #1 prospect ( I worry about the strikeout numbers...) and then another top 10 and top 100, which would almost certainly move my farm system from 6th ranked to 1st although idk how much that matters. So my question is, when do people typically trade big stars like this, or should I just ride it out and try and win in the next two years of his arbitration?

Do you think an eye development lab would unlock his potential?

I bought ootp 26 after i found the game scrolling threw steam. I'm a massive baseball fan and am big into all of the stats and advanced metrics.I was wondering if it's enough of a difference between the 2 to get the upgrade. Also a big deal breaker on buying the new one would be if there is drs and ooa in 27.

I think my pitcher just had the greatest performance in MLB history... Game 1 of the divisional series and he throws a complete game no hitter with 19!! strikeouts. Only one guy reached base due to an error. OOTP had him at a 106 game score which would put him above any other pitching performance in history.

Hey everyone, wanted to share here, I've played 8 seasons starting with ootp 18, Im now on 23, and I've managed every single game including Spring Training. I finally won a WS that I thought I wasn't going to win.

My mets lost our best player in September, Mike Trout, with a wrist injury. He *may* be back for the WS. We had never made it, we bested the Dodgers in the LC in the 12th inning with a walk off HR by a catcher I traded for, Austin Hedges. Oh and by the way, we lost game 5 on a walk off balk... lol Setting up a Subway Series vs the red hot Yanks

Trout is back, but due to a depleted Bullpen, the Mets lost the first 2 at home to go down 0-2. Come roaring back winning the next 3, two of them in extra innings. Bats go silent in game 6, and thought here we go...

But longtime overpaid fragile ace Jacob Degrom gets the win in game 7, going 5 innings and allowing 3 runs, but we scored 6, and hang on for the game 7 WS win!

Interesting notes. Mets have Bryce Harper, who has a team option after the year. He was a MVP like player, but I've put him to DH because he is fragile. He has been a machine for me, went cold from August to the World Series, literally had the snowflake. Came alive in the WS, but now I think I'm going to decline his team option, he also has a player option the next year too.

Also, Degrom, same boat he is owed 38 million dollars, he is also fragile and 37 years old. Fragile, only pitched in 74 innings this year. He would have a player option too, and I just cant think of paying 75 million for two aging stars that combined for 4 war lol.

I feel like Jerry Krause in the last dance, but I'm trying to reload, and I think I will let them go. I would like to resign- especially Degrom if they wouldnt be too mad at me lol
