Robin Williams said something about this: “people don’t fake depression. They fake being happy”

I don't think Robin Williams said anything like that, but I also think that people do fake depression sometimes.

I think a lot of people mistsle being sad with being depressed, but a lot of people also don't learn about mental health outside of what they experience through peers at school.

A number of times I have seen people claiming mental illness just to avoid consequences.

I recommend you step back for a second and ask yourself this: how do you know they're faking it? Like, really genuinely know. Because even someone who flat out tells you they are may not be. They may be lying to you.

For a lot people, part of how they cope with mental illness involves hiding it from those around them.

Oh give me a break. People's behavior will tell you a lot.
