My mom came from a large family and I asked my grandma why did she have so many kids. Her reply "I just liked doing it with your grandfather too much... and before we knew it, there was another baby"
I'm not even sure that much is really true. At least not to the extend you might think. They were probably a lot more open about it with their peers than they were with you. Just like the people here probably wouldn't be as open about it with their children as they are here.
This doesn't really hold up as sex positivity and openness has shifted significantly in recent decades. Yes, people are more open about it with their peers than cross-generationally, however, at the societal level, it is absolutely objectively true that current generations are more open than previous ones (irrespective of current rates of sex by generation).
The pervasiveness of social media gives the illusion that we’re more sex positive now than in the past. 20+ years ago you had no venue to be sex positive other than talking to friends etc. I’d say we’re more comfortable mainstreaming kink now than we were 30 years ago but that’s also due to social media. If you don’t know about something, you’re not about to try it on for size.
I'm sorry, but this comment does not reflect the truth outside of a limited projection of your own ideas about the past.
There were multiple international waves of feminism that came and lauded women-forward sexuality, LGBT civil rights that focused on legal and social frameworks of sexual activity, pro-choice movements that dealt with self-determinism regarding women's bodies during and after sex, protests to allow for interracial relationships, etc.
It is frankly absurd, illogical, and patently anti-historical to say that sex positivity was limited to talking to friends before the internet. Please do not assume your non-factual thoughts speak to what actually happened.
