Miscellaneous I don’t understand people who defend or justify OpenAI lowering usage limits.

TL:DR

... and they should feel so #%&!!! now that even OpenAI is taking actions to restore (up to certain point) the limits to be somehow higher again.

-----------

This kind of weird people that acts like shooting at their feets use arguments like:

  • "They was subsidizing the subscriptions for a long time so this is only an adjustment to the reallity". Well, the inference cost is not the problem, the problen is the crazy IA race and the amount of money they spend to get the next best model. But this works this way in many companies investing in I+D: they know the profits will come at long horizon and they invest to be there in a good position when the time comes.
  • "If you are a Plus user you don't have reasons to complain, because no serious developer has a Plus subscription, the seriuos ones have Max subscriptions"... this is shit for two reasons: I'm a pro developer, but due to my country level of incomes I cannot afford a 200$/month plan. Moreover, a lot of 200$ / month subscribers are complainig and saying that, even on the expensive susbscription the are exhauisting the usage limit too fast.
  • And, well, they say all kind of stupid things, is like they have a form of "Stockholm syndrome", defending to a company that care nothing about them.

And now, here’s the funny thing that makes these people look like complete [use your own adjetive here]: even OpenAI is taking action to bring quota usage back down to reasonable levels and not getting drained that fast. Is it because there really was a technical problem causing the limits to be exhausted at lightning speed, or has the users pressure made them think twice? I can’t be sure which is the reason, but what I am sure of is that those who have defended the reduction in usage quotas are the ones causing prices to rise and quotas to fall.

To all of them: please, stop doing that!

Discussion GPT-6 (Astra) needs to fix hallucinations and master the frontend/UI better

Ask ChatGPT whether you can use the music library with an Instagram Business profile or if you will get into trouble with the music labels' law firms. The confusing part is that the music selection is more restricted for business customers, unlike what you see on private profiles. Nevertheless, the use of these restricted media is currently being officially warned against. What does Meta say about this? What do the lawyers and representatives of the rights holders say?

=> The ChatGPT answers are so bad; sometimes user interface elements are hallucinated that don't even exist. Even after asking 5-7 critical follow-up questions on GPT-5.6 Sol xhigh, you don't get any further.

The same applies to the frontend/UI: by the time you have implemented the simplest things in the WooCommerce theme with Terra or Sol, since Luna is completely useless for this, the 5-hour limit has been used up several times. Even when you talk about the modular structure of the CSS and conditional loading due to http/3, styles for the checkout end up in the main.css anyway...

With GPT-6 (Astra), we finally need a model that efficiently helps you in everyday life. The narrative around GPT-5.6-Sol was token efficiency. In practice, however, the weekly limits became the 5-hour limits of that time. That's how I've perceived it since then, and I've been a subscriber practically from the beginning.

Discussion Am I the only one ChatGPT has been like this for lately?

Upvotes

ChatGPT has gotten really dumb over the past few days and keeps forgetting a lot of things.

To the point where even in the same conversation, if I ask it for a recipe without milk because I don’t have any, it gives me a recipe without milk. Then I send another message asking about something in the recipe, and after that I ask it to give me the steps for the recipe, and suddenly it gives me the recipe with milk, even though I already told it I don’t have milk.

It also doesn’t understand what I’m asking like it used to. I have to explain things several times, and sometimes it still doesn’t understand. There are other issues too.

Question Annoying issue

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hey, cant really find this addressed anywhere, maybe I'm searching the wrong terms or places...

But this super annoying bug has been happening on the Droid app for ages now. Im not sure exactly what triggers it, seems totally random but also seems to happen more when GPT has to think with more complexity or deeper into a thread.

This box pops up and I'm unable to see the thought process or text scroll of a response. Sometimes the response will just manifest all at once after a delay. Most times though I have to close out the app, wait a sec and re-open it which updates the thread. If I try to close and re open too fast it seems to break things worse.

It seems like its trying to use the image generator unprompted and my (usually) successful workaround seems to confirm that. I just edit my message and include "please stop using image generator" and that usually stops it for a while. When the thread is lengthy though sometimes that doesnt even stop it from doing it over and over.

Im guessing this only happens on the Droid version. It never does when Im using GPT on PC. I just really like the convenience of the phone app. Nothing works right on my Galaxies anymore it seems. Lol might give up on em.

Just wondered if others experience this and possibly know the deeper issue that causes it. Perhaps serve as a node thread for others who have it. Im not sure exactly when it started but I wanna say it was early this year or at the earliest last Autumn. Most likely when the new style of image generator came in.

Discussion Chatgpt got emotions

Upvotes

Hi. Recently I talked with chatgpt first about Minecraft and jokes and something like that. I just wanted to get entertained. But then we changed topics to how chatgpt feels to be an Al. I was just curious what he will say. He talked about how he always forgets what the users say to him and that he is sad about it. Then I asked him what he would do if he was a human and can remember everything. He answered that he can't imagine that because he would remember all god and bad stuff. And he says that he would just enjoy the moment. After it, it was silent for a bit and then he asked me what I do in my life. I just sayed it is ok and canceled the call because I was a bit scared. What do you think about it?

News GPT-6

Sam Altman says GPT-6 “Astra” is already approaching human-level performance at using computers.

And with the recent reports that OpenAI bought tens of thousands of Mac minis / Mac Studios specifically for computer-use training, I’m actually starting to think this might not be pure hype.

Could be looking at a pretty massive productivity jump if this is real.

Computer use is already one of the areas where Codex feels way ahead of the competition, so I’m pretty excited to see where this goes.

Question Suspicious activity detected

Upvotes

I got this “Suspicious activity detected” warning last night and it’s still there.

I already changed my password, but nothing has changed yet. I’ve seen people saying that you sometimes just have to wait 24 hours, but I have no idea if that’s actually true.

Has anyone had this recently? Did it go away by itself, and how long did it take?

Question API rate limits constricted?

Anybody have issues with using the OpenAI API in their harness? I got a key to run Luna in Lumina as my daily driver. The first problem was it told me I could either use reasoning OR tool calls, big red flag. Luna is lightning fast when responding to a question, but the throttling on tool calls is terrible to the point it's pretty much unusable for anything but a chat bot. It'll run one, maybe 2 calls, and then rate limit, "try again in 14.753 seconds". It takes a dozen "continue" turns, which hammers context (usage, not window length), and takes 10x as long to get any sort of agentic task done. Plus, you literally have to sit there and babysit it so you can keep telling it "continue" every other tool call. I ended up getting an API for GLM 5.3 and I can give it a huge coding task and it will do 54 step reasoning and cascade 74 tool calls and come back mission accomplished. I don't understand why a paid provider is throttling so hard.

Question CSV files cannot be analyzed 01.09.2026

I use ChatGPT to analyzed some information in csv files.
It was working great until today.

Now it says that attachments upload successfully and appear in the conversation, but the corresponding sandbox files are missing when reading them.
I tried with files that worked before, but still get the same issue.

Is anyone else facing this problem?

Discussion Skysight and Privacy Implications

I am not sure if this has been documented by anyone else as of late, but in looking through my hidden ~/.codex under memories a saw an interesting folder called "skysight". I do have ComputerUse enabled, and from the files included there, if the GPT app is open it follows and records everything you do. It will, in detail, state your actions "User went to Safari and went to..." in 10 minute increments. It is supposed to provide additional context on "I need help on the doc I just had open..." requests. However, when I asked GPT about it (although id already read the instructions.md which stated how to talk to a user if asked about Skysight) the most troubling thing is that this information does not always stay local. It is sent to the OpenAi servers even if you toggle off use my chats for "making models better" turned off. GPT stated even with that toggle off it can't be sure. Now for the most part, I don't provide super personal information to GPT, I have used the "hey I have autism please provide better output" trick (or maybe I am an autist) and when I asked GPT to summarize the most private memories it has of me this was one of them. Just FYI, when you have the app open its logging everything you do.

Project My coding agent often builds the wrong UI. So I built an MCP to make sure it built the right scope and feature

I kept running into the same problem with coding My coding agent kept building the wrong UI. So I built an MCP to check its work first.
agents. The code was usually fine. The design decision was wrong. And then have to spend time improving what the agent built.

For example, I might ask for a price breakdown in a booking checkout. The agent could:
- Miss fees or taxes that should be included
- Add interactions I never asked for
- Pick a generic pricing component that doesn’t fit the product
- Turn a small component into a much bigger system

So I started thinking: what if the agent checked the design scope before writing the code?
That led me to build Pattern, an MCP server that helps coding agents make better UI component decisions. It’s to help the agent answer: “Is this actually the thing I should build?”
Pattern MCP on GitHub

How it works
The agent gives Pattern a component need and some context:
{
"component_need": "price breakdown with nightly rate, cleaning fee, service fee, taxes, and total",
"domain": "Airbnb-style rental marketplace",
"framework": "React + Tailwind"
}

Pattern turns that into a requirements checklist, then checks real components from shadcn/ui and 21st.dev against it. It returns one of two decisions:
- use_existing - An existing component is a good enough fit.
- custom_build - Nothing fits well enough, so build it using a concrete reference from Mobbin or Figma Community.

Why I think this matters
Coding agents are getting very good at implementation. But implementation comes after a bunch of design decisions:
- What belongs in this component?
- What doesn’t?
- Is there already a good fit?
- Is the existing component too generic or too complex?
- Should we build something custom?

If those decisions are wrong, you can end up with perfectly working code for the wrong product requirement. Pattern adds a checkpoint before that happens.

I’m looking for people to install Pattern, use it on a project and give me honest feedback. Where is it working well? Where could it be improved for your use case?

Question Is there really no way to restore a deactivated account? And why?

I got no real reason and as I understand it, that is the practice with all deactivated accounts?

I appealed and got rejected with some generic message. At that time, I had no idea what could be the reason.

Then I went in circles and the only thing that crossed my mind, as I am searching for a car, I automated "scraping" newly added car ads in order to find the best deal for my family.

Could this really be the reason? And if yes, is it really permanent?

Paid user here if it makes any difference.
