yep there was question about what andrew was doing on his turn…. and he was simply attempting to deck out Diego… impressive thinking….
too bad for Diego.
he attached lucky helmet and had to draw if damaged and Andrew attacked with dudunsparce to force a two card draw…

Yes. Dunspare attacked with Ram to do 20 damage. It triggered Alakazam's lucky helmet. Diego decks out the following turn.
Diego was very focused on setting up for a Special Red card and probably didn't count on Andrew switching his strategy.
Had Andrew evolved into Dragapult and KOed Alakazam the prior turn, I think he would have lost. I'll have to rewatch to verify.
Needless to say, everyone was very confused by what Andrew was doing, but then it allade sense a little to late for Diego.

To add to this, I believe Chip pointed out postgame that Diego also could have attached an air balloon and energy to Dudunsparce since it shuffles all attached cards as well. I bet Diego was just under a lot of pressure with so many options in hand but, I wonder if there is a world where he gets out of that situation by making that play.

I missed that part, maybe I'll rewatch the stream later to see if that had mattered.
Either way, both of their matches were very entertaining.
Now I'm trying to figure out what the world championship decks will look like next year.
Probably going to be:
Andrew's Masters 1st place Dragapult Jake N's Seniors 1st place Alakazam Colby's Seniors 2nd place basic box Yuta's Juniors 1st place drag + dusk (maybe not though because they usually pick 4 different decks).
Otherwise maybe they throw a Crustle deck in there. Also someone in seniors got 3rd with Lucario.

Sadly (or not depending on who you ask, ha) Dragapult will rotate out before the next worlds 😌

All Diego had to do was attached air balloon and Energy to Duduns to cycle 4 cards indefinitely and Andrew would have to play special red once Diego found that line. I guess pressure and tunnel vision got the better of him.

Nobody was confused. It was a dead giveaway.
I'm surprised Diego attached the Tool even after he counted his cards. Doing this with 5 cards left in the deck is just asking for problems.

The whole scene of attaching lucky helmet was mind boggling. I’m sure it was meant to counter a special red card swing but it made it so much easier for Andrew to see how he can close out the set in two turns.

Misplay's are what make or break games. I remember stalllord not healing in one round, I'm not sure that lost the match, but it sure didn't help.
