Hello! I recenetly got hired to be a cook, I've recieved no training and the only time I went was to sign paperwork. They told me that I'd be immediately placed into kitchen and told to cook. I don't know what to expect and I don't know if that's how training works. Any tips are helpful and can someone explain how the training works, or will I just get thrown into it? What happens if I can't do the work properly? Will I be fired or will I be moved to a different position?

Hi all. A PE location that I frequent in downtown Chicago said they're moving the beverage machine from the dining room to behind the counter and discontinuing free refills. Then they said the company, as a whole, is looking into doing that. There's one mall location (North Bridge Mall) that's been doing this since they opened like 20+ years ago, and most malls are like that anyway (though most offer a free refill). Has anyone heard that corporate is going to implement this change? I fear that chains are going to eventually follow McDonald's lead on moving drink machines to behind the counter.

I’m about to apply for a GM position. I’m in my late 40’s, but love life and I’m full of energy! I’ve managed for all ages and love the variety! However, it seems like they only hire substantially younger team members in all of the online pics. I’d love your honest thoughts about this. I don’t want to waste anyone’s time if this would prevent me from being a great fit.

Does panda provide any relocation assistance/bonus when you move to a different city to help manage a store? And what does that bonus depend on?

Anyone know how to request a store transfer when you dont feel comfortable disclosing the reason for the transfer too the GM?

I know the location i would want too transfer too. They are hiring for the position id want to transfer too.

Reason for transfer is GM is absolutely horrible too people, lacks basic communication skills and is unprofessional in my personal opinion. Its too the point that it affects my mental health.

The GM has displayed enough negative rude behavior towards me that sitting down and hashing things out is a hard no go. Theres no nice way to put it but they are the worst boss ive had in my entire life as far as how employees are treated and spoken too or in most cases, completely ignored.

Is there anyway to just skip having the sit down with your GM too request store transfer? I dread that because GM sees no issues with how they are towards people, and doesnt even answer text messages about important work things such scheduling.

The ACO also has favoritism for the GM so any help from people whove gone through a transfer would be useful knowledge.

I want to know what i should expect before i move forward.

And yes just quitting and reapplying at another location has crossed my mind as an option.

Hi everyone! I’m wondering if anyone here has experience with asking their manager for more hours.

I’m currently only getting around 20-25 hours a week, even though I put on my application that I’m available for 30-40 hours. Panda is my only job right now, so I’d really like to work closer to full-time hours if possible.
Is it okay to ask my manager if I can get more hours? And for those who have asked, were you able to get 30+ hours consistently?

Also, I’ve heard from my aunt that Panda sometimes keeps employees under 30 hours so they don’t qualify for benefits. I’m not sure if that’s actually true or just something she heard. Has anyone here experienced this or knows how the 30-hour/full-time and benefits eligibility actually works?

Last year I went through a multiple round interview process, including an onsite tour at the corporate Panda location. The position I applied for wasn't a management position. It was an individual contributor technical analyst role. When I spoke with the Recruiter the first time, I was very much interested in the position. One thing stood out during this first call - I could either proceed with the multiple 5 round interviews that could last 5-6 months or go for the temporary position and have fewer interviews then have another opportunity for full-time interviews. I proceeded with the multiple interviews since that was what I applied for. The Recruiter and I had a good connection during the screening call and she started scheduling my interviews, including future dated interviews (2nd through 3rd round) ahead of time before my 1st interview had happened. She did this when she found out I was interviewing with other companies, which contradicted her "5-6 months of interview process".....hmm. I thought scheduling ahead was overreaching. Halfway through the process, I was scheduled for the 4th and final interview. Altogether including all interviews, they were scheduled in the span of 3 weeks. It was the most interviews I've done in the least amount of time.

The first interview went well and normal. I got along with the hiring manager and I could see myself collaborating with her. I started seeing red flags in the 2nd interview and later. First, the hiring manager appeared in all interviews. I felt like I was being watched in a way. Secondly, the third interview with the VP was full of red flags. I asked about what she valued in a team member. She said "you need to have flexibility to survive at Panda". During this interview, she raved about the team staying up all night "having fun", working until 2 am fixing things, no weekends. I didn't see that flex as much as she did. At that point, I lost a bit of interest and was considering withdrawing, and I made the decision after going to the coaching call. Around this timeframe, I learned about the Landmark seminar on Reddit after seeing it on glassdoor reviews. I also talked with someone IRL who took Landmark classes during the recruiting process. She had paid $1000 for the classes and didn't get reimbursed after she withdrew her application after 3 rounds of interview. 

I was scheduled an impromptu coaching call a few days before the final interview with the CEO. Recruiter scheduled this coaching call to prep for potential questions asked by the Founder. The coaching was led by an HR Rep. She told me the final interview could be 5 minutes or 20 minutes. I was taught to speak to the CEO in a certain way - repeat the question before answering the question and this was a red flag…what was wrong with how I was speaking before? The coach then gave an example to answer "tell me about herself". She didn't share about her work experience, but how she grew up - her parents were divorced, she grew up with a single mother with two siblings, etc. Sharing the personal details a normal workplace wouldn't need to know. Honestly, I was stunned to hear all those personal details. She switched gears by having me demonstrate to share about myself. I pretty much blabbed something similar and the coach rated my performance, citing she thought I was hiding something....well no shit I wasn't going to spill out all my personal details on the spot. At this moment I was feeling stressed and uncomfortable.

After the call ended, I was asked for my availability for two additional prep calls with another party and the Recruiter regarding the technical aspect and to discuss Landmark, elevator pitch, culture. Why would the CEO ask me technical questions?  Why am I going through so many prep calls? This wasn't a normal recruiting process. I finally withdrew my application because it was too much and I could not see myself working at Panda anymore. If the final interview and the Landmark seminar were going to be invasive then forget it. The Recruiter requested to get my feedback on how to improve the interview process and I proceeded with that because I wanted to share about my concerns about Landmark and the recruiting process being too excessive. Honestly, that call was a waste of my time and I heard things that made realize the company was very cultish. 

Only took about like half a year but be patient , I had already lost hope till today

Genuine question for panda employees, I’m one myself and I’m just trying to see if everyone feels the same as me.

I have only been working for a little over a month and already want to quit. I’m part time and have been closing 3 times a week with another 4th shift during the day. I started back at uni this week and have previously already been so tired when I clock in every time and barely get sleep when I get back. And now I have to wake up early every day for my classes.
They barely trained me for register yesterday and seem to be getting used to me and treating me nicer. I didn’t really want to get into fast food and only did for the pay/proximity. Now that I have some experience I want to try to get a different job that’s a bit less physically demanding and leave this restaurant. Is it too soon? What if I don’t find work after? I also feel bad to just tell them I wanna leave after I’ve worked so hard to get my footing here.

Small rant but my manager called me into one of my days off and I gave her so many reasons why I couldn’t only for her to give me reasons why I could only for her to tell me the day of that I didn’t need to come in. (Yes this is mostly my fault ik but) It made me feel super weird even though she’s been somewhat nice to me. She does lecture me a lot when I’m slow or mess up though which isn’t a big complaint, that’s just work I guess.

For context I have asthma which makes this a bit more physically tiring for me. It’s not such a big problem because recently my asthma has been controlled but it’s definitely a con.
