Weapon upgrade question?

How do you upgrade an organelle to mythical rarity? The game seems to stop at legendary for me. Do I have to unlock something first?

I have tried that, but the mythical upgrade wasn’t available

You need 2 legendaries of the same item

I believe it is available for all organelles, but it occasionally doesn't work if it has an eternal modifier on one of them. I think this might be a bug because it only happens sometimes.

Ah maybe

I’ve fused onto eternals into mythicals so I guess that it really is an inconsistent bug

If had multiple times where combining a legendary or using a legendary upgrade gave me a mythic.
I haven't experienced a single time where I couldn't combine them.

But maybe it had a modifier like eternal, cancerous, etc?
And do remember, a normal / rare upgrade won't turn a legendary mythic.
It needs to be 2x legendary to get a mythic.

Combine 2 oranges to make a red. I have seen a couple times where it wouldn't let me and I think in both cases, it was a weapon with the eternal modifier (but I have upgraded eternal weapons to mythic before so it might have been a bug).
