Elections Election Day, get out and vote Tuesday November 3, 2026

As always, this is an informational post. Please don't use this post to promote parties or candidates.

Make sure your vote is counted.

If you are mailing in your ballot, there are some developments at USPS. Please consider mailing earlier than usual.

An ongoing issue with USPS should be monitored closely. Please keep this in mind so that an alternative plan can be made.

U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani’s July 25 ruling that the USPS can’t refuse to deliver mail ballots to states that refuse to comply with the U.S. Justice Department’s (DOJ) demands for their unredacted voter lists will remain in place. Source

On July 28: The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia affirmed a lower court’s decision, holding that a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Trump’s March 2026 edict was premature because the administration hasn’t executed it yet. Source

A Massachusetts federal judge has repeatedly blocked the U.S. Postal Service from implementing President Donald Trump's mail-in voting executive order ahead of the midterms. Now that the injunction applies nationwide, the DOJ is telling the U.S. Supreme Court it has all it needs to swiftly issue a stay. Source

The SAVE America Act is still in play as of July 26 and may affect voting. Please consider getting all of your paperwork in order. Note that it can take several weeks to get documents on marriage and legal name changes. The PA Real ID is not compliant with the Save America Act. Update As of August 12, the Senate has gone on recess without passing the SAVE America Act.

Dates to remember

You don't need Real ID to vote. Your state ID or license is sufficient at least for now. Here's a document outlining the ID requirements

What's on your ballot?

Check on Ballotpedia.

Contact your County Election Board

If you are voting for the first time in a polling place, bring your ID.

If you moved within 30 days prior to the election, you vote in your old polling place.

If you move within Pennsylvania less than 30 days before an election, you must vote at the polling place for your old address. Fill out a change of address form at the polling place to update your voter registration to your new address. source

Request a provisional ballot if:

  • Your name was not in the poll book or supplemental poll book. For example, you reported to the wrong precinct; or you did not report a recent change in residence to the county election office.

  • You are required to show ID, but cannot show ID.

  • Your eligibility was challenged by an election official.

  • You were issued an absentee or mail-in ballot but believe you did not successfully vote that ballot, and you do not surrender your ballot and outer return envelope at the polling place to be spoiled.

  • You returned a completed absentee or mail‐in ballot that was rejected, or you believe will be rejected, by the county board of elections and you believe you are eligible to vote.

  • There is a special court order with respect to your registration status.

  • There is a special court order related to extending the hours of voting.

You can also check to see what policies exist in your county for curing your ballot:

Pennsylvania Counties' Notice-and-Cure Policies

Election complaints Any complaints, including both information issues as well as intimidation, can be reported to the PA Department of State.

EDIT: Updated some notes on legislation that would affect the upcoming election. EDIT 2: Added continuing update about USPS and mail in voting.

Important to note in this article:

Cpl Farrell stated on another officer's body camera: "The guy f***ing charged me, screaming and yelling and wouldn't get down on the ground."

The district attorney stated that Farrell's own body camera showed: "The young man has his hands up, he does not have a weapon, he did not charge or act aggressively, he was not a threat to the homeowners, he was inebriated but listening to commands about putting his hands up. He's not trying to escape or didn't commit a forcible felony."

Greek yogurt maker Chobani is investing $1.2 billion over the next five years in a production facility based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Bloomberg reports.

The project is expected to create more than 900 jobs and comes as the company seeks to expand into high-protein milk, which is scheduled to launch next summer.

Chobani will take over Keurig Dr Pepper’s manufacturing plant, and the beverage company — which is spinning off its coffee business — will sell its minority stake in Chobani for $925 million, per The Wall Street Journal.

Cpl. Farrell was the first officer to arrive on the scene, Steele said. His body-worn camera shows Farrell telling Pysher to put his hands up and drop to the ground, Steele said.

Immediately after the shooting, Steele said Farrell's backup arrived on the scene, and Farrell can allegedly be heard on the body camera saying, "the guy [expletive] charged me, screaming and yelling, and wouldn't get down on the ground." Steele said the video does not show Pysher charging at Farrell, nor does it show him either yelling or screaming.

Politics Dan Meuser Phone Town Hall 9/1/26 - dog and pony show

What a shit show.
Callers were friendly folk. “I know you and President Trump are working hard to help small business owners.”
Dan relied on his staff to confirm sketchy numbers.
Biden bad
Immigrants bad, and the worst of the worst are being apprehended.
Waste fraud abuse in big, blue cities only
Blue cities and governors are the worst.
Democratic socialists!
Communists!
Limited government? What?

“Have faith. We are making strides.”

Deflection

I did not get to ask why $700 million spent by the consumer financial protection bureau to get $21 billion returned to consumers is bad while $700 million to the coal industry is perfectly ok.

“Our president is a builder.” To explain the pro-data center angle.”

“Garrity is far better for PA to make the state like Texas, Florida, the Carolinas.”

“I might be in DC in October. Call my office. Arrange a tour.”

Goodbye, property taxes? Legislators resurrect plan for shift to higher sales and income taxes

Thumbnail triblive.com

This is DOA but an 8 percent (9 percent in some counties) sales tax plus 5 percent income tax would hit poor people super hard.

Also I'm not sure how the pa department of revenue will know if retirement income was taxed previously or not. There's no way for them to check.

DMV Insane costs to transfer titles and registration in PA

Short version- I just paid $421 in fees to transfer titles and register an old aluminum boat with a little trailer that I bought for $700. So my $700 boat instantly became an $1100 boat.

Detailed version- I bought an old aluminum row boat with a small trailer on marketplace for $700. I intentionally bought one with paperwork for the boat and trailer because I know how difficult or impossible it can be to register a trailer in PA without a title. The boat and trailer are older, and pretty basic. I go to the notary with the seller and I about fell over when the total came to $421 plus "credit card convenience fees" for paying the notary with a card.

Here's the cost breakdown for the boat- $24 sales tax, $30 title fee, $26 registration fee, $10 notary fee, $70 service fee. Total of $160 plus $4.80 credit fee (I know the cc fee and notary fee isn't PA's fault)

Here's the cost breakdown for the trailer- $18 sales tax, $72 title fee, $7 registration fee, $5 County fee, $10 notary fee, $39 plate fee, $95 service fee, $5 DLDV fee, $10 MV/DL form fee for a total of $261 plus $7.83 cc fee. Total of $268.83.

A county fee? For registering something with the state?

What the hell is a DLDV fee?? And an MV/DL form fee??

Don't get me started on paying sales tax on something that was taxed when bought new. And every time it's changed hands since. What a scam.

What services did I get for my $70 and $95? Because it definitely wasn't a reach around.

Paying over $400 to transfer a 30+year old boat and trailer blows my mind. The transfer fees came to more than half of what I paid for it. That's absolutely insane. Thanks for bending me over, PA. Sincerely, a life long resident.

ISO / Recommendations How to get PA to stop giving out personal information

Has anyone had luck getting the State to stop giving/selling our contact info to all these political entities?

When I moved here, I must have had a moment of stupidity and somehow provided my cell number. I removed it from my voter registration years ago and I'm not affiliated with any party. My cell number is also on the Do Not Call list. My cell number has an out-of-state area code (1,800 miles away), so these people obtained my number from PA.

I'm tired of the flood of unsolicited texts and calls from PACs, politicians and surveys.

EDIT - The number receiving these calls has only been given out to banks and medical facilities along with the one mistake of giving it to PA. It's not been data mined. I have another mobile number that's used for everything else and it never receives any of these calls/texts from PA political entities.

Managed to catch this fisherman's first cast of the morning and the month just before sunrise. Looks like a pretty big lure on the end of his line. ISO / Recommendations PPL Electric billing issues? I’m new to Pennsylvania.

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone might know how to deal with this. I’ve never had this happen with a utility company before, but they have charged me three separate times for one bill payment, and when I called, they insisted I must have done it myself because they “don’t have authorization,” and the duplicate charges “won’t come out” of my bank account.

But one already had, and they just would not listen. The other one, which I only discovered after logging into my PPL account, was charged yesterday and has not gone through yet. Nothing I can do except dispute it with my bank or wait 15-20 business days (??) for a refund check. I can’t even get a paper trail for communication because they apparently don’t use email or messaging at all.

Has anyone had this happen before? I don’t know what I can possibly even do to prevent it from happening again. Super stressed because it seems like they can just accidentally charge me repeatedly with no warning or accountability.
