Really lost me when Banner, a character that was so depressed at one point that the only reason he didn’t commit suicide was because Hulk literally wouldn’t let him, is told that he cannot comprehend how terrible it is to be catcalled.
This one right here. As someone who was once a depressed young man full of rage, the minute they invalidated Bruce's struggles, I dropped the show. Haven't seen anything else outside of clips.
There are some unfair criticisms of the Bruce / Jenn scenes... but following this line, I don't blame anyone being so offended that they do not pay attention to what surrounds it. Yes, She-Hulk threw the boulder further, but it was with a full shot-put throw, while Bruce only flicked his wrist. But trying to argue you have a harder life than Bruce Banner is so insanely awful that it's hard to think straight around it.
Right after Jen throws her boulder farther, Bruce throws another, way bigger boulder way, WAY faster. It's immediately established that he's stronger than her.
I saw an early trailer where she made fun of him not being able to control the Hulk and immediately knew the show was going to completely gloss over his deep childhood trauma.
There are moments when it's tolerable, and then there are moments like the Abomination speaking event thing that are just so laughably bad that I get second hand embarrassment for everybody involved in the show.
Any moment I found tolerable just ended up being such a let down at the end. They had foreshadowed so many things only to do a gotcha into a fourth wall break that it just felt like the storys events did not matter
The plot points were so poorly laid out and contrived that the writers could only end it with a "we wrote ourselves into a corner and do not have the budget to fix it" cop out. It was bad.
Yeah same, but the writing just kinda sucked. It felt just janky and bizarrely paced. A season 2 with a totally different director but same actress would be cool.
It was the last episode that killed it. I loved it up until they introduced that dumb robot that was actually the writer of the show. I loved how the show was just making fun of incel culture in real time. I'm a straight dude and I thought the strong independent woman theme was fantastic. One of she hulks whole things is that she chooses to be hulkified the majority of the time because it gives her the feeling of power that she lacks as a woman in the world.
Bro if they left out the bullshit politics and just made a movie, they’d get more money. No one wants to hear shit about “you’re an incel because you don’t like strong female characters”. We had Wanda, Shari, fucking Natasha, Kate from the Hawkeye series is fucking cool, and so on! The only hated characters are the ones that the story fucking ruined (Iron heart, She-Hulk, Ms.America, and Captain Marvel).
Complaining about "politics" when the show didn't touch the subject is snowflake behavior. Shitting on incels isnt political unless you live in a country where there is an incel political platform or are regularly incel related policies up for debate.
She Hulk didnt say "if you dont like strong women youre an incel". There were several characters in the show who did not like Jennifer but they werent portrayed as incels for it. There happened to be incels in the show as the villains and surprise surprise they dislike strong women because they're incels. A hit dog will holler. If a shows message is "fuck incels they suck" and you feel offended... 🤷🏾♂️
I wanted to see She-Hulk fight someone who also has super strength. Nothing is more satisfying than watching one powerhouse punch another, and the other person refuses to yield and keeps getting back up. I just wanted pure muscle and willpower, like in Rocky, Real Steel, or Here Comes the Boom. I mean I'm watching She-Hulk for god sake.
But if I recall correctly, we never got that. Also, the show included a lot of political statements that were irrelevant to the plot. They violated three rules: show don't tell, maintain immersion and don't drag real world politics in, and don't piss the audience off by treating them like an idiots.
Oh they actually had Jameela Jamil as Titania, who showed up for like 10 minutes total. The political statements were barely even poltical, I wish it went poltical, at least it would have been interesting. Hell, an episode where it cuts between her annihilating Titania, and then her annhilating her attorney verbally in court would have been good, but there was just no real conclusion, so it was all pointless
I was afraid I was wrong so I looked up Youtube just now. But her fight with Titania is incredibly boring
I think you are mixing what is politics and what happen in the court of law (I'm a big fan of Better Call Saul I would have loved it). Also I was talking about the real world politics they put in the show, not MCU politics.
Probably because it felt like the show was talking down at its audience the entire time. Apparently the showrunner had a major falling out with Feige and hasn't done anything noteworthy in the industry since that show came out.
I feel compelled to say that I really enjoyed She-Hulk and would like more in the same vein. I just feel like it’s important to make that opinion visible so that the assumption isn’t made that ‘everyone hated it’ or whatever. From what I’ve seen in the past on Reddit, I don’t even think this is a fringe opinion.
