There's lots of cool things. Like assassinating leaders of an industry because its goals don't align with the best hope of humanity; and doing it in space, with bullets made out of meteorite, so it looks like an accident.
Three body problem is the best science fiction I've ever read. But for people who are accustomed to western literature, it will be jarring at first. There are a lot of characters, and none of them are really 'main characters" nor are they heroes (or villains) in a traditional sense.
It's more like an epic, than a novel series. Think it has 2/3rds the word count of the bible, between all three books.
I think the Dark Forest Hypothesis was an answer to the Fermi Paradox before Liu wrote his books, but he paints a good picture of the concept and I think he coined the rather fantastic name.
Her later shit is definitely wild, but the initial decision in the moment of "everything fucking sucks come save us" I think a lot of people can relate to
I think the fact that the first response says don't reply if you reply we are going to come and kill you all should have put a pretty quick stop to that... How entitled do you have to be to think you can reach a solution with aliens who told you they'd kill your species. Or her intent was to wipe humanity in the first place because she felt wronged by the actions of 0.0001% of humanity
Not just pregnant. Mao's revolutionaries killed her father, brainwashed her sister and mother, and probably killed the father of her child as well (I don't remember that part).
