Ikea furniture comes with those little allen keys for assembly. You only need one, but some people keep all of them in a tool drawer.

Solid joke, but you should have gone with "the treasure of Ingvar Kamprad", as IKEA is an acronym of Ingvar Kamprad (the founder), Elmtaryd (his childhood farm), Agunnaryd (the administrative parish in which said farm was located).
Ingvar Kamprad was the richest man in Sweden, and around 2012 the fifth richest man in the world, he was famously frugal, and infamously a tax avoider, so him having left a hidden treasure somewhere is honestly not entirely unlikely.

That’s half of step 1, the 1,000 Allen key’s must be from different IKEA models that you personally built, then you must hold them over a world map and recite the names of the thousand furniture’s you built, as you start the name of the last piece you must drop the allen’s, and before the final one settles you must finish the last word, then the short end of the final key will point to the treasure.

Not just ikea, just about any flatpacked furniture you need to assemble comes with one. I just put together a modular 11 piece patio set from some other company. Each box containing a different section of couch/seating came with its own allen wrench. I had like 8 new allen wrenches at the end.

These things always come with the packages of furniture from ikea or something. They are meant to be discarded after you finish building your furniture, but a lot of people decide to keep it anyway

It's nice to keep around to tighten up furniture as it inevitably loosens over time. There are better tools, but it works.
And sometimes it's a nice sacrificial metal thing. I've culled the pile by abusing them in various ways... Last one was too knock a pin out of a hinge in a pallet fence.

I tend to keep them for as long as I have the corresponding furniture it came with because sometimes, only the IKEA wrench fits properly.

Please 🙏 people. Just buy a good set of Allen wrenches and toss that shit out. They aren't that expensive and they make assembling this stuff so much easier.

Most of them are aluminum and have a straight hex end. They are the bare minimum to assemble the cheap furniture and a lot won't survive the assembly.
Regardless, having a good set of Allen wrenches can make your whole life a lot easier. They are cheap, they don't take up much space, and they are good tools to have. Life is so much better with good tools.

I guess its about that when you buy furniture or so you always get this tool with it and you always think "maybe i could use it when i need that tool again" but then with the next furniture you get that tool again so you have a box full of them...
(I dont know the name of the tool because iam Austrian and have no idea what the english word for it is.)

That's one of them jacks that comes with interior building and furniture packages. You plug it into the nail, spin it, and the nail goes into the thing you're nailing. OOP presumably shops a lot at IKEA.

Just want to point out that you don’t spin a nail. Nails get hammered or pushed in, these would be used for bolts or screws. Also the tool is called a hex key or Allen key. (Could also be wrench instead of key, all are interchangeable)

I wonder if the metal is worth it. Maybe melt it into something new? I just know from experience it is not the best. Once I cut one with a grinder to get a straight piece which I could use as a bit. It was deforming quite bad.

Nope, it's carbon steel which is under 1,000 bucks per ton. Tool steel is several thousand dolars per ton n comparison.
