I don't know many Chinese characters. But I know this isn't Japanese or Korean either. Maybe another language or some personal symbol?

No offense but I have doubts that any one person could be sure of that. Unless you're a world-renowned language scholar, what you're speaking now is hubris not knowledge.

That's why I put the word "mainstream". To me being a mainstream language means its name is known by most people around the world

There problem with that is that no one else on the planet magically knew what you think of as mainstream languages.

Some people can name 500 or more languages. Some people can name 5.

It might be possible if you're a bigger language nerd than I am. A lot of languages are based off of another. Each language you learn makes the next one easier. Especially if they're in the same family. It's also a great way to understand the culture. At least with my experience with learning Japanese. It made me think differently when using it. When you learn a language, you often hear about the origins of certain words and phrases.
