I went to the Pokemon XP event in SF this weekend and had an early-ish Pokemon Center reservation. I don't collect TCG at all, was just there for the fun and spectacle, but decided to buy the Chaos Rising Pokemon Center ETB since I was there anyway and it had a limit 1.

Opened it up and got the gold greninja card! Do I quit now and never buy another one? 😆

Now i need to keep it safe, what do people generally recommend for nicer cards? Did a quick search and there seems to be different opinions on simple sleeves, double sleeving, binder vs top loader, etc. (Also, is it only worth grading especially rare cards and in perfect condition?)

we each got $30 booster bundles from target not expecting anything good…

Was at my local Target today picking up groceries and saw everyone lined up in the card section cause they happened to be restocking Pokemon. I walked up to get a closer look and the Target worker looks at me and goes "Do you want any?" and I go "Oh I haven't done Pokemon in a while how much are they?" and she goes "They are $5 I would definitely get a few" and hands me 3 of them LOL. I buy them and 2/3 packs had THESE in them.

I love sports cards but haven't collected Pokemon in over 2 decades, I guess this is the start of my return.

Had 240 packs total. Mostly recent things that i could manage to find at close to MSRP. Really happy with the pulls, she was stoked.

This is just me taking it off of my chest.

I've sent my 5 favorite cards to be graded and before them even got to Beckett, they're robbed by someone in the process and the package arrived empty. They've destroyed the package and stole the cards. More than $1000 in cards disappeared from my collection and I am destroyed.

Luckily it was a insured delivery, but I am afraid of the postal offices contesting paying it.

It made me rethink having so much money in paper cards and now I am even thinking about stopping collecting.

Hey everyone! My final piece for my Pokémon card display is finally complete Johto!

The Johto Pokémon were the next generation after Kanto, and that era really reinvigorated my love for Pokémon. Collecting cards from Neo Genesis, Neo Discovery, Neo Revelation, and Neo Destiny was such a fun experience, and seeing them all together now means a lot to me.
I’m really happy with how the display came out.

I used Gold and Silver as the background colors to represent the era these Pokémon came from, and I think it really makes the cards stand out.

Thank you so much to everyone who encouraged me and gave such an amazing response to my Team Rocket and original 150/Kanto displays. I hope you all enjoy the finished Johto display as much as I enjoyed putting it together!

Stopped into a local Meijer this morning to get a daily redbull. And some sort of lunch for the day. Clearly shelves are empty. As usual. But after checking out see some series two at the customer service. I then ask for two (limit) she said are you sure you don’t want to look at it first. Ofcourse not I know what it is. End of the story is Meijer has great hits.

Years back I cobbled together a dice/token tray by gluing card into a Pokemon Mini Tin. It wasn't the best, with bits of odd glue visible and such but it did the job well for years.

After dropping out of the hobby for a few years, I've recently come back and seen loads of really nice 3D-printer inserts and accessories, which made me want to revist my old setup and see what I could do with it.

The Sirfetch'd tin photoed are the result of a few weeks of experimenting, I'm really happy with the turn out of it though. The new insert is made of four layers of bamboo plywood, cut and carved to fit everything into the tin, along with some custom acrylic ability/status markers that are UV printed on one side and laser engraved on the other.

It's been a really fun little project, and a great excuse to learn and test out a bunch of different equipment at my local makerspace. Especially happy with how the ability markers turned out, the engraving feels really cool. Just wanted chance to show it off now it's all done.

Took about 2-3 years getting all these together but glad it's done now!

Pulled this ultimate god pack out of a mega feraligatr ex box on pack 68/74 of a rip sesh 😭

Bought a 3 blister pack on lunch break checking out the local hobby shop. Like any superstitious person I had to pick the 5th or 6th pack back on the rack. Centering is off so I will probably not get it graded, but by far the best modern card I’ve ever pulled

Im starting on pokemon TCG with the pokemon academy and I love it, but I don’t want super decks for competitive world.

I want to have a open space to try Pokémon’s. Build decks with casual objective, and fun mechanics (playing with Decks without problems like the biggest pokemon allways win)

In MagicTg I don’t have much this problem becouse all cards have a static play form, but in pokemon with the phases make me want to avoid booster packs for the randomness, if I get a pokemon phase 2 that I like but I can’t play it becouse I don’t have the other 2 previous versions of it will make me very sad.

And I don’t looking for battle decks becouse this have the perspective to be a static deck with cards designed to work together.

I would love to have a good opinion to start my collection that can help me to create decks, without spending too much money just to get specific cards.

Can some one help me? :D

I found my childhood collection yesterday after years of sporadic searching. They've been in this binder for over 20 years, probably. How do I best take care of them?

Edit: thanks for the advice everyone, and sorry this isn't great storage. ~6-12 year old me didn't know any better. I plan to get some proper storage for them today, and at least get the more special ones transferred out. Are there handling best practices I should know about? Like, should I wear gloves to keep oils off them?

Ive been a fan of Pokémon since my childhood. I finally decided to put my favorite cards on display in the best way I could.

The cards are in black backed sleeves with glue dots attaching the sleeves to a basic project board. It fits perfectly in the frame behind plexi. I may upgrade to glass if I ever get motivated in the future.

Asked a friend who was in Japan to buy some packs from Pokemon Center and got these two and these other hits.

I never realized how cool a gold page can be but my front page will always be reserved for the best of the best to me.

I think I got it around 11 years when I was around 13. The person that did the trade with me was at the premiere for Pokémon The Movie 2000 and had an Ancient Mew card. I saw it myself, and even held it 🤣🤣 I was so in awe

Edit: second photo is the new binder I got recently, with a flyer for the 20th Pokémon anniversary in 2016. I cut it out in that shape because I wanted to decorate a flimsy school binder I had back then, and I thought it would be appropriate to decorate my first, proper card binder

Hey all, noob here. I just started collecting again after stopping post-Gen 2 as a child.

When the collection starts dropping on the 16th, is the move just to be at Target & other retailers early, and just hope I get lucky enough to snag some packs?

I assume there’s no secret sauce. It’s just really hard & you have to get lucky.

I did get fleeced by GameStop early so I at least have a booster bundle on preorder.
