Do you know anything about how the Federal Government works? You need 60 VOTES to PASS FUNDING BILLS. If EVERY Republican votes to FUND THE GOVERNMENT and keep it OPEN, they fall short of the 60 VOTES! That means that THE DEMOCRATS SHUT DOWN THE GOVERNMENT!

So they then have to do a continuing Resolution Bill to Fund the Government for a short period of time.
