History doesn’t change because you take down some statues. Forgetting about the past causes it to happen again.. this is the same logic Germans had when it came to holocaust memorials and such… no reason to ever forget the past and monuments and statues aren’t always glorifications… they are reminders of what our problems were. But hey that’s me an historian of American history I dunno what I’m talking about because I voted for someone you don’t like right?
You either aren't a historian or are a very bad one. The statues were mostly erected to glorify the Confederacy in the civil rights era. Their purpose was nothing about remembering history, it was about establishing that the areas were racist and black people weren't welcome.
