1$ rx7 update Spoiler
I’ve fixed the idle hunt issue and raised the idle to where I like it even did some hot starts and started right up each time I love having accurate gauges👍🏼

Anyone that runs a PFC solve the inconsistent idle issues?
Have the idle air control enabled and apparently functional as it’s the source of oscillations, but have never been able to get it dialed in despite exhaustive effort that apparently exceeds my ability.
Adjusted it as told, and tried to do it as prescribed , but small uncontrolled variations on the next use , and it just oscillates…
Also have trouble with dialing in idle RPM… had to build a servo to manually adjust the throttle body stop. Again the next session or some uncontrolled slight change, and it’s not correct anymore. And especially different days with different conditions.

If you are having oscillations at idle, I would first do this. Check TPS and make sure its in spec, you can check using the powerfc commander. If within spec, check your throttle stop screw setting and air adjusting setting. This is from the Fctweak manual - "there is a throttle adjusting screw (TAS) and an air adjusting setting (AAS) screw just underneath the throttle elbow which sets the base air amount. Wrong setting of these screws can result in the ISC operating beyond its normal operating window, in which case the PFC will no longer be in control of the idle mixture. Setting the AAS at one turn from fully closed, and the TAS at ¼ turn from just touching, usually brings back the PFC in control. In most cases setting the AAS solves most PFC idling problems."... I personally have my TAS 1/4 from touching and 1/2 turn from fully closed.. if those are within spec and it still has issues, it could be a bad Idle Air Control Valve. A long time ago, my idle would also oscillate and the cause was a faulty Idle Air Control Valve, replacing fixed the issue. Hope that helps!

Thank you, it’s been a Long time since I have revisited the issue, even having something tangible to chase is Very helpful.
With the assumption you are up on current trends, what are people using for control electronics on the FD now?
Went with PFC, datalogit and Innovate , because it had the most support and what I felt was most enthusiastic DIY user base at the time.
Understanding there is not a large pool to pull from, was unable/ not confident enough based on reading and testing, and couldn’t find any local experienced help to dial in a myriad of small problems and nuances. So consequently my car is a little rough around the edges in terms of tuning and how it operates.
Always have meant to revisit it, every time I stop back in there, I don’t see very much activity on that front.
Anyone know an experienced PFC enthusiast around the Portland Oregon area, primarily only interested in operational consistency, to tame all the quirks.

Again with the assumption you or anyone might know, has the PFC enthusiast community possibly moved to a more modern platform? The datalogit group was a boondoggle to visit in the way it was set up and displayed threads…despite the fantastic helpful and informed people there. The chain of commenting and readability was terrible and Very limited in scope.
And don’t see almost any activity on the rx7 forum over the years when I stop in infrequently.
If looking to re engage with that topic, is there a place that still deals with that platform and is active?

After you're done with this project, may I invite you over to work on my car too? I even have the 1993 dealer service manual from Mazda sitting up on a shelf in the garage.
