Can we stay in the spirit world/astral plane as ourselves to avoid reincarnation and just, chill for a while?

Has anyone done any research into reincarnation or travelling to another world?

Because I’m really afraid of the future.

Hi! I’m new here and just wanted to ask a few things about reincarnation. I’ve been really curious about how much choice we actually have when it comes to our next life. If reincarnation is real, can we choose things like the country we’re born in, our parents, our circumstances, or even certain aspects of our appearance?

I’m also wondering if we can retain some of our personality, preferences, interests, or even memories from this life, and whether those things could influence the choices we make for our next life. Basically, does some sense of “us” continue between lives, or do we become completely different people?

I’ve also heard that people sometimes reincarnate relatively close to where they died. If that’s true, how would that work with the idea of being able to choose where you’re born?

Sorry if these are basic questions! I’m just really curious and would love to hear what people here think, especially if there are any experiences or research related to this. :)

I know that in China they have communism and materialism and all that. But what happens has to happen, what doesn't happen doesn't happen. I don't mean an actual reincarnation. I am talking about the psychological phenomenon of children talking about a past life between 2-5 years of age. Does this not happen in Chinese children? No government can stop a 2-5 year old from talking about a past life. But not just China, Russia also don't have any of such cases as far as I know, despite the fact that Russians are open to those kind of things even more than China is.

If so, what made you believe in it? Have you ever experienced something that made you feel like you’ve lived before?

I am 27 and experiencing extreme death anxiety. I used to get this every couple of months and it would go away, but for some reason it’s in full force and has lasted about a week straight so far. I think what’s brought this on is that my dog who I grew up with is 16 years old and I’m having anticipatory grief, having to accept that I will have to say goodbye to him soon. I’m also feeling extreme fear about losing my parents and grandparents one day.

On top of that, I’m fearing trillions of years of nonexistence. I truly love being alive and the thought of not existing terrifies and saddens me. And I know people will say I won’t be alive to know it, that it will be like before I was born - but that’s exactly what saddens me.

The only comfort I’ve had from this extreme fear is reincarnation. I’m trying to believe in an afterlife like heaven/hell but I have a really hard time believing that. I view the world too scientifically. So the scientific research that I’ve seen that supports reincarnation has been my only comfort. But then apart of me thinks maybe I’m only grasping onto this idea because it gives me false relief from the ultimate reality of dying.

But even reincarnation doesn’t give me a full relief from fear because if I don’t remember my past lives and if the people I love don’t follow me to my new life, then it’s like I really don’t exist again anyway.

It’s starting to interfere with my daily life. I’ll be enjoying a nice day out with my parents and start thinking about how one day I’ll be gone and feel a pang of extreme depression and anxiety.

Does anyone else feel like this? What helps? Also something that might be important to note, is I was in a physically and emotionally abusive relationship from ages 15-26 and I’m just now rebuilding my life after years of isolation. I feel incredibly lonely and I feel too shy to actually go out and meet anyone. I feel like none of my dreams will come true - I want a relationship, a family, a home. I’m having to come to terms with having wasted a decade of time and running out of time to have all the things I want from life.

Once a human dies, is it possible to reincarnate into a different animal, one that's less intelligent obviously? Like wtf is the point of this shit. Im tired of humanity but idk if being an animal would be better, could be worse depending what it was.

I know this might sound weird, but I’ve been thinking about this a lot. We usually imagine reincarnation as someone dying and then being born again at some point in the future. But what if time isn’t actually linear? If the past, present, and future somehow coexist, could consciousness theoretically reincarnate from the future into our present, or even into a time we consider the past?

I really don’t want to reincarnate in the future. The future already looks so depressing to me with everything going on. I know none of us really know what happens after death, but is there any philosophical, spiritual, or even speculative scientific idea that could give me some hope that reincarnation doesn’t necessarily have to happen in a simple past to future direction?

I’d genuinely love to hear any theories that suggest it might be possible. I just need a little hope.

I hope someone here can help me; I had a s-attempt in May, and things have been different ever since. I remember what happened before I lost consciousness, but I have no memory of the time I spent vomiting or interacting with people—even though I’m told that’s exactly what happened. My condition was critical, and I was told it was a miracle I survived. I don't remember what was happening then or where my consciousness was, but the people around me who witnessed that miracle and the trauma of it don't act in a way that suggests it really happened. I feel like I’m in a different reality now, and that I’m no longer part of the old one. I feel like a different person, even though the pain I carry and the scars of my past remain the same. Even though I remember nothing of the time I was unconscious—when others were told to prepare for the worst—I don't feel the way I did when I first woke up. Back then, I was incredibly disoriented and cried because my loved ones weren't there when I came to; it felt as if I had only just arrived in this world at that moment.

I’ve cured almost all of my vices but still like to smoke cigarettes. It is an unkindness to my body, i do know this.

Do you think this would impact me being forced to reincarnate back on earth? I’d like to move onto another realm

I remember reading that when David Bowie was born midwife told that “those eyes have seen world before”. Bowie himself didn’t tell that he believed in reincarnation, even though he thought that he was destined to stardom, but what that nurse said about his eyes as newborn baby made me think of what kind of eyes you can say that they have seen world before - are they developed like grown adults eyes, clear irises and so on?

In here in Finland old folk seemed to believe that if a newborn has developed features s/he’s reincarnated, at least I know one person (ethnologist Heikki Meriläinen) who his family believed to be reincarnation of his deceased grandfather because he had teeth when he was born. That made me wonder if this universal belief about reincarnation in addition to birthmarks? Are there other signs on newborns that people look for?

So personally I have jumped a few times before 2021. After that, I have stopped altogether because I completed a soul contract then. Personally, I am on a timeline that isn’t good for me. I know I was supposed to have four friends after high school but I took the contract too far so now I don’t.

I am like wondering if soul contracts exist, soul guides, everything “afterlife”, what are alternate timelines? How do they fit into our universe?

Hello everyone,

I have a question based on a recent family health event. If our personality is linked to our soul/spirit, and that soul is eternal, how is it explained that someone’s personality can change after a stroke?
Doesn’t this mean that personality is strongly linked to our brain, as non-spiritual people believe, rather than to our soul/spirit? After all, our physical body seems to be what defines the personality we have on Earth.

I guess this would also apply to other health conditions, such as mental illnesses that can permanently change someone’s personality.

If someone could help me understand this, I’d really appreciate it, as I’ve always been a spiritual believer. Please, only informed answers from people who have studied Spiritism/are knowledgeable enough to answer this.

This is just an advice: Don't believe that you can choose next life, it's not that easy, it's an comfortable cop-out. Your karma will determine your next birth, the mind is formed by sankharas, habits which is the karma you produce constantly. Like smoking cigarettes, you form a habit = sankhara, the actions are karma.

This is the fuel that continues throughout countless existences, "you" are just a stream that flows and the natural law is not a punishment or reward, it just flows like a river that is controlled by causes and conditions, like gravity is not punishing you if you jump from a building.

If you continue doing harm, hate and greed it will lead to a very misfortunate rebirth. If you cultivate love, compassion and altruism it will result in a heavenly abode. This is the law just as gravity or thermodynamic is the physical, karma is the moral law. There's no "you" that can chose where you want the next life, it is not a judge only cause and effect.

But there's a lot of new age in this sub that spread the idea that you can just...do whatever, you can chose whatever life you want after this, I believe it is harmful and not in line with living an ethical life. So you either listen to the wise who have experienced this since thousands of years or continue the cycle, pick and chose from whatever that suits you.

Edit: I'm buddhist but I also regard Advaita Vedanta and some hindu as the same.
