Questions Please clarify for after I finish my current first ever RE2 remake run!

Ok so, I made a post yesterday that said I’m currently on my first ever play through of the RE2 remake, and for my first run I’m playing Leon’s story on standard difficulty. In that post, I asked if people who have played the entire game could give me some general/non-specific, non-spoiler advice of things to keep in mind/lookout for. I got some great advice from a lot of people, and some great tips such as conserve ammo and don’t shoot/waste bullets if you don’t have to, mechanics about how Mr. X actually functions, and stuff like that (seriously thank you to all of the people who commented, a lot of the advice I got was actually genuinely super helpful).

However, I’m a little bit confused about one specific piece of advice that many people told me about. As I said, I’m playing Leon’s story on standard difficulty. A lot of people told me not to make what is apparently a very common mistake, and they said something about when I finish the Leon story I’m currently on, I should then play “Claire’s story scenario B”, but I’m confused about what that means. They basically said that there’s a Leon scenario A + Claire scenario B, OR there’s a Claire scenario A + Leon scenario B. So does that mean when I finish this Leon run that I’m on (which I honestly don’t even know if this is scenario A or B), after I finish it should I then load the same save file I’m already on as a new game plus (or NG+ if you prefer)? Or do I start a brand new save file, and just choose to play as Claire? And how do you even select whether it’s scenario A or B for either character? I honestly don’t even think I DID select which scenario I’m doing for Leon when I started my first play I’m currently on.

If someone could please clarify this for me, I would very much appreciate it as I’m pretty gosh darn confused. Also, I know that a lot of people may POSSIBLY say something like “don’t worry about it for now, just enjoy the run you’re currently on and once you finished it, THEN figured it out”, but honestly, while that genuinely is GREAT advice, I’d still rather know now so that once I’ve finished, I’ll know what to do.

[By me] RE2 Universal Dynamic Remappers Mod

Hello everyone! 👋

Like many of you, I sometimes find the default control setups in the Resident Evil remakes to be restrictive when trying to customize action buttons to personal preference.

To solve this, I created a couple of quality-of-life mod called RE2 Universal Dynamic Remapper.

What they do:

  • Allows remapping action buttons while keeping the native buttons for the pause menu, inventory, and map untouched. Does not alter on-screen notifications or HUD elements.
  • Fully supports all native controller schemes and types.

I just wanted to share them with the community in case anyone else was bothered by the limitations of the original controls.

If you decide to try them out, I would love to hear your feedback or suggestions! And if you find them useful, an Endorsement on Nexus Mods would mean the world to help other players find them.

Thanks for reading and enjoy the game! 🎮

Though I didn't do subhour, I'm satisfied with my performance. Next will be either RE3R Inferno S run or RE4R Professional S+ sub 4 hours run.

Questions First time playing RE2 remake. PLEASE no spoilers, but is there anything I should know?

TLDR - For the TLDR version of this post, please refer just to the paragraph that begins with *** as that is basically the main point of this post.

So I have never ever played any other resident evil game except for 4 OG 2005 and 4 remake 2023. I’ve played 2005 RE4 about 100 times (literally) throughout my childhood, and I just finished my first ever play through of RE4 remake. While I do seriously LOVE the plaga ass kicking, supplexing, roundhouse kicking, absolute handsome BEAST that we get to play through Spain in RE4, I thought I’d love to see where it all began for Officer Leon S. Kennedy on his first day at the R.P.D, and what exactly happened to him on that infamous night of September 30th 1998.

Firstly, I have already picked up that while this game is SIMILAR in many ways to RE4 remake in terms of its play style, it is ENTIRELY different in terms of its overall vibe. While RE4 remake is very heavily focused on more of an action type of game, RE2 remake is MUCH more of a horror escape room/puzzle solving type of game (although RE4 also does have a general horror vibe as well, RE2 remake is much more heavily focused on the horror aspect). And I’ll be honest; Yes. It really IS scaring the shit out of me… but holy shit am I LOVING every SINGLE minute of it.

***For my first ever play through, I’m naturally doing Leon’s story. I am playing on standard difficulty. I haven’t needed to google anything yet, and I’m SO hoping that I don’t EVER need to, but I would love if you guys who have completed the entire story could give me any advice of what to look out for, or what to be careful of, or items to prioritise hanging onto during my first play through (please keep in mind however, PLEASE no spoilers). Examples of things that are okay to tell me include basic game mechanics, or GENERAL areas where I might find say, “something of interest” perhaps. Not something like the exact location + combination of a safe or what it contains, but the general area of where something important may be that I “should look around for/investigate” if that makes sense.

So far, I have collected 4 Hip Pouches for eight extra inventory slots (16 total), the gun stock + muzzle break + high capacity magazine for the Matilda, the W–870 shotgun, and the lightning hawk Magnum (annoyingly, while researching the game before playing right now, I did come across one “kind of” spoiler that told me to keep the “USB Dongle Key” after using it to retrieve the Magnum from the S.T.A.R.S office armory as apparently I’ll need it later for another locked case. My guess is for the Special Weapons Case by the underground stairs. So I do “kind of” annoyingly also have the USB Dongle Key, but I can live with that. It’s only annoying simply because like I said, I’m trying to keep this natural. And I DEFINITELY would NOT have naturally thought to take that USB back out of the computer). I’m currently hiding out in the clocktower having just done the cog puzzle and receiving the second Power Panel Part. Honestly, I’m just listening and waiting for those loud footsteps to be very faint and in the distance before I make a break for B1 again via the east office, through the watchman’s room, down the stairs, and back into the parking garage to get back to the jail. I’m basically just waiting for that giant hulking invincible dude dressed in black (apparently referred to online as Mr. X) to fuck RIGHT off before I finally try to go receive the parking garage card/ticket.

I will note, while I do have the “Samurai Edge - Albert Model” available for me to take from an item box to use, as this is my first ever play through and I don’t know if the samurai edge is more powerful than the Matilda, I have not used it and I am not GOING to use it as I want this to be a natural first player experience. And naturally, if I hadn’t bought the deluxe version of the game, I would not have that available to me. So that is off-limits.

General RE2 OG

Played the remake and it’s one of my all time favorite games. I really want to play the OG I’m just worried I won’t be able to stand the goofy controls. I guess my question is, do you all that have played it or both, recommend trying to play it or just watching a playthrough on YouTube?

The games run great i have to tone down the settings a lot and it works like a charm.

I am using tiny 11 because windows 10 would be too much for this hardware so i wanted to let people know that i was not expecting this game to run at all.

There are minor stutters here and there but its very much playable in my books

Puzzle Help How am i supposed to find the solution?

So i'm playing the B scenario for Claire after beating Leon A, and the game was great (much better than people told me, after i heard many times it's not as good as the original which i know from my teenage years). But how am i supposed to know the solution for this puzzle here (talking about the lion statue specifically)? I found both the book and the paper. I know i can just look up the solution but i want to find it out the oldschool way. On the other site of this page there are some blurred outlines of one part but nothing more. Is there some way to get rid of the blood or some additional page?

Questions Resident Evil 2 Remake’s opening still feels terrifying. Is this one of the best horror game openings ever? 🧟‍♂️

RE2 Remake’s opening is such a masterclass in atmosphere. You go from the eerie streets of Raccoon City to your first zombie encounters, the increasingly claustrophobic police station, and finally that unforgettable first glimpse of the Licker. Every step makes you wonder what could possibly be waiting around the next corner.

Does the opening still hold up as one of the best introductions to survival horror?
