Old Model Blackhawk

Just picked up this old model for $650. Seems in good shape with just a few bumps and bruises. I was curious if I got a good deal or not. If anyone knows anything about these old guns that I should know, please let me know.

Assuming it's unconverted, I would say not a steal, but not bad either.

If it's unconverted, do you know the drill for keeping an empty chamber under the hammer? Half-cock, load one chamber, leave an empty chamber, load the next four (at this point, the first one you loaded is under the hammer). Now full-cock and ease the hammer down onto the empty chamber.

In general, never lower the hammer from half-cock.

Yeah, not my first single action so I'm up to speed. I'm excited to hit the range with it soon.

Brings back memories! When I lived in STL 25 years ago, a guy in my club could clear 5 bowling pins in under 4 seconds using a similar Ruger. He could consistently do the same under 3 seconds with his match 1911.
