Buying Advice- India and Asia Anyone downgraded from a 650 to a 350? How did it feel after a few months?

Post image
169 Upvotes

I have a Classic 650 (14 months, 7,500 km) and a 12-year-old FZ for local runs. Thinking of selling the 650 and buying a Goan Classic 350 so I have one bike I actually use for everything.

Why: at 243 kg the 650 never gets used locally, tube tyres worry me on ghat roads, and windblast caps me around 120 anyway so I’m not really using the engine. My riding is mostly 100–300 km weekend runs to Ooty, Valparai and Coorg from Coimbatore.

Test rode the Goan and it’s clearly less smooth. I expected that, but feeling it was different from knowing it.

For anyone who’s made this trade:
* Did the refinement gap fade after a few months, or get worse?
* Did the weight and running cost benefits actually show up day to day?
* Anyone go back up to a bigger bike? What triggered it?
* Goan owners — how is it over 200–300 km of ghat roads, and what luggage fits with that chopped fender?

I know the 650 is the better bike. I want to hear from people who downgraded anyway and lived with it.

Hot Bike Alert! Royal Enfield brought back the OG Himalayan but not the OG console?

The new Himalayan 411 was spotted at the showroom, but honestly, I’m pretty disappointed with the meter console. Since they’re bringing back the old 411, they should’ve brought back the old console too. Where do you guys think they’ll position this bike in the segment? And with this launch, do you think the Scram 411 will eventually be discontinued as the sales is pretty low ?

Hot Bike Alert! Keep or Let go?

Hey, I recently brought a Classic 350 Stealth Black Edition - 1.5 months ago.
Current odo running is at nearly 2k (1900ish)

Lately, Ive realised that I’m not enjoying it much (its a great motorcycle btw) and my interests lie towards an Adventure Motorcycle.

I’m figuring out whether I should take a call to pursue my wants or keep this for certain months/years?

Just want to hear from the fellow community brother’s.

PS: I’m 26M, based out of Pune.

Worth buying a '23 Himalayan for 1.25?

Friend runs a bike rental in Ladakh and wishes to sell this. Almost 50k on the ODO and I've run it for nearly 2k since last year.

Runs fairly well and hasn't shown any internal issue imho. It has been serviced well and tended to astonishingly quite nicely.

Has a visible dent on the right of the fuel tank.

My concern is like all of you

- since it's a rental it must've been used roughly especially in Ladakhi terrain

- the engine may have not been broken in properly

- the tank dent means it may have gotten into a fairly rough accident (which I will enquire about)

I reside in Himachal and my commute is mostly off-road. Yes, the lack of a sixth gear is palpable but I barely take it on the highways so that isn't a concern. Bike won't be in use during winters due to snow and hence I'm not keen on investing in a brand new one. This one will serve well as a daily beater.

My questions are:

- What is a healthy justifiable deal for it?

- What other things should I keep in mind?

Mechanical Assistance Did my first DIY oil change at almost15 000 km. Not nearly as difficult as I expected...

Post image

Hey there, a couple days ago I replaced oil and filter in my 2022 Classic 350. I know the standard oil change interval is 10 000 km, but I bought the bike used and based on the service log the last time oil was changed was more than a year ago. Now everything is working nice and smooth, no leaks and no warning lights, but just as I went over 14 900 the maintenance interval signal started flashing (little wrench icon on LCD screen). Is it just a periodic reminder or should I be worried? If it's the former, how do I rreset it?

Mechanical Assistance Got this interceptor recently, and engine casing could use some care and love

Now it looks like a whole Frankenstein made up of int and GT parts, not sure why the previous owner would do these but wtv, on the title it says it's an INT650.

Anyways i want to know if its possible to make the engine casing shine again, it looks pretty rough, I've been trying to find videos but almost all of them already have a casing that's looking good and not in terrible shape. So I'm coming here to ask you guys how I can go about this.

I changed the engine oil at 38,000 km, and now the odometer is at 41,000 km after 3 months. Is this oil leak serious? Should I get it checked or do something about it?

Anyone else waiting for Medallion Bronze?

Upvotes

Booked a Classic 350 Medallion Bronze from the Karad showroom on 12th May and still waiting for it.

The showroom guys keep saying that the colour hasn’t come to the showroom for around 5 months and that manufacturing of Medallion Bronze was stopped. Customer care doesn’t seem to have much information either.

Just wanted to know — is anyone else facing the same thing with Medallion Bronze? Has anyone actually received one recently or got any update about production/deliveries?

Took her about 150 miles out to Eastern Long Island. First real distance ride on the new Classic. What a pleasure. Cruising at 75mph was a breeze. The upgraded seat and foot pedals really paid for themselves. Having this beauty out at the beach for the end of the summer is a dream.

Classic RE thump

I like RE for the sole reason of classic design . And the old school exhaust thump is most imp for me although most motorcycle owners may think that is silly lol . I’d be riding over the weekends on country / backroads , they all seem underpowered for the freeway anyways .

So keeping that in mind who one do you recommend for me ? Which RE model has the most old school charm and classic exhaust thump ?
TIA

Picked up my Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 today, and I’m absolutely loving it!
Been waiting for this day for a while, and seeing it parked at home feels unreal. The design, the stance, that 650 twin-cylinder sound… just 😮‍💨❤️
Excited for all the rides, road trips, and memories ahead.
Shotgun 650 owners — any tips for a new owner?

Mechanical Assistance Make it make sense

Today I went on for a ride around the city. When I was heading back towards my home, the rear tire gave out unexpectedly. It started wobbling, so I stopped and it was a literal flat, no pop, nothing.

Fortunately, there was this roadside puncture repair guy who stacked bricks under the frame and lifted the bike up onto the side stand just enough to remove the rear wheel.

On extraction of the tube, we came across a rather peculiar sight. The point through which you fill the air, that brass or metal thingy, Idk what it is called, was half ripped off from the tube itself, leading to all the air escaping out.

I had the bike serviced, lubed and cleaned just this Saturday, so there isnt a chance of me running flat before the incident.

I rode about 50 Km before the incident and had about 20 km more to get home. It was a literal expressway throughout, not some backroads.

The puncture repair guy was trying to sell me a 100/90 R19 tube, which I was skeptical about as neither the section nor the diameter was matching. The Bear runs 140/80 R17. I was in the middle of the city with numerous RE service centers in the vicinity, so I just dialed RSA and they booked me a pickup to the nearest service center, which was about 19 km away. It was all covered under insurance, so I didnt pay a dime.

This is the situation we are working on. Now comes the shocker.

Upon reaching RE, they were literally blank on what to do. I said to either outsource the tube for me or install theirs if they have it in stock. They went on to check the inventory and said RE will only sell us the whole shebang.

The Front + Rear tires with tubes. At 5k odometer reading, who in their right mind would throw away their tires that have more than half their life left on them?

I countered them by saying, first of all, I am not pushing for a manufacturing defect. I am simply asking for the spare and will pay whatever it costs and be on my way. And if I do go ahead and get the whole thing changed, front, rear, everything, then does that come with some magic that will safeguard it from anything, puncture or anything else, the very moment I ride it on the road? Will I have to get the whole thing changed every 100 km?

They started doing their "staff meeting", puzzled about what to do. Meanwhile, I went on to MRFs official website and surprisingly, this specific tube size with MRF printed on it isnt even listed under tubes on their website. I inquired at all the shops in my area and nearby, across the NCR. Meanwhile, the dealership tried around Delhi to outsource it, but no one had it, neither will they order anything like this.

In the end, I had them register it as present at their service center by having them open a job card and forced them to mail RE for resolving this dilemma. REs own parts portal for dealers doesnt list tubes or tires anywhere.

I didnt know bikes with tube tires have to get the whole set changed every time anything pokes into any one of them.

Let me conclude the situation- This is the very next day. After a ton of calls, and I mean like 50+ different people throughout the whole MRF chain of command in North India, I finally got my hands on two tubes, same size, 140/80 R17, no alternatives or workarounds, just the OEM MRF tubes.

Whereas RE is still wondering what to do.

If anyone in future come across my post and want the same tubes than they could simply ask me about the person in my dm's.

Found this beautiful old book at our local village hall charity sale for £1. Every page is full of wonderful bikes and tons of history and technical detail and drawings. I have taken a few photoes but there are hundreds more. Its a real treasure which as an Enfield owner I will cherish.

Mechanical Assistance Avg lowering while warming up

Every Day before i go tô work, i leave my bear 650 idling to warm the engine for 3 minutes.

Yesterday i noticed that my average km/l consumption was getting down pretty fast.

That does not make sense for me, because my bike cannot be wasting that much fuel while only idling.

Is that actually normal? This is my first bike with a TFT display, so i've never had this kind of info before

Hot Bike Alert! Was this the best Signals colour by RE ?

Went to the Royal Enfield showroom and saw the Commando Sand, and the colour combination is a bit weird and not that great. But I remember this colour that was launched by RE by marsh grey. For me this was one of the best colours from them and they should definitely bring it back.

Buying Advice- India and Asia Classic 350 quotation delhi india

Hi all, i am getting classic 350 stealth black in delhi i have added a ss of all 3 showrooms where i inquired, i have cropped out the name of these showrooms cuz i am not sure abt rules of this sub

for the 2nd showroom i am getting 1yr rsa + 3yr warranty for free so i have removed the price from accessories (it is my first time using excel after school so learning)

I am thinking to get it from 2nd showroom cuz its not very far + im getting extra benefits

Anything which i should remove or change? Also recently someone crashed into our car and its in service center so my family is more focused on insurances and stuff and not ready to get insurance online
