Since Socom ended there's usually a rumor of a franchise reboot at least once a year and nothing ever comes of it. Rumors of a remake of Socom 1 or 2 I've heard since the PS 2 Socom servers were shut down. Perhaps in Sony's mind Confrontation on the PS 3 was the remake of the earlier games to tide people over till the monstrosity that was Zipper's Socom 4 overhaul even if the fans don't see it that way. Until Sony announces there is a Socom project in the works every online rumor is just hopium backed by nothing.

I am with you, but at this point, Sony just doesnā€™t want to bring the IP back. Weā€™ve had many people attempt to make a clone and they all pretty much failed. Zipper was the only one who did due diligence. Except Socom 4 of course.

Been hearing this for over 10yrs. Socoms classic run n gun play style just isn't build for what the new generation of young gamers would want. They are just into that call of duty type stuff calling airstrikes to blow you up and German shepherds and whatever other crap that game has. I haven't played in many years. If it came back it wouldn't be anything similar to what it was. It would be a modern third person call of duty
