Old School IGN Survey
ignboards.comOut of curiosity I went to see if the old IGN boards were up and came across this fantastic thread. Lot of OG names on these lists.

Recently found a pristine copy for 1 dollar as a flea market and have read ppl still play this amazing game. I loved this game as a kid and to this day is still one of my favorite games of all time. Any help or guidance on how to play multiplayer since they shut the servers down i would appreciate before i buy a PS2
I figured you guys might get a kick out of this... For shits and giggle I am trying to get the game to run from a web browser. I got it booting and running just trying to figure out why I can't load the level.... Messing with the Socom1 Demo disk since it was a bit easier to reverse and emulate but if I pull this off... I think I will throw up a webpage and you just select your socom .iso file and in theory you can emulate it all in the browser.... idk how controllers would work but that's a problem for later. Anyways figured you guys would find it cool.

I played through the campaign of Combined Assault and recently bought Socom 2 via the internet and I‘m looking forward to try the campaign too.
Personally, I enjoyed Socom 3 the most tbh. What I didn‘t like is the fact that you weren‘t allowed to use the tanks in tbe game. Genuinely, that sucked.
Anyway, is Socom 2 still playable online and is there a Discord group for the Socom community?

Thinking of doing the emulator on my Xbox so I can play S2, just need to wait for my driver's license to come because apparently you can't sign up for the Xbox dev kit without photo ID in the UK.
Just wondering how likely it is that I'm gonna be able to play being in Europe? Joined the discord, but I honestly don't understand discord, but is it going to be a case I would need to be up at 4am to play a half full game? Or is there a likelihood I could find a decent game in my timezone?

In socom us navy seals 1 mission 1 Democratic Republic of the Congo the enemy model with the mask possibily a ski mask can he be captured and can the chef be captured I’m asking because i like to capture enemies but I have noticed enemies in socom us navy seals 1 are much harder to capture than in socom us navy seals 2 and beyond also if anyone has any tips on how I can capture enemies more easily please let me know thanks.
"I think you need to go back to basic training," and the whole team got Swiss Cheesed in Brazil at the end of the mission.
In the year 3000, when we get SOCOM remade, the messages you get for failing from SOCOM II need to get expanded on.

Strafe, Handles I may need to dial in the bloom for the strafe battles make bullet spread more horizontal.
Currently tracking is hard on Mouse and keyboard on strafe, may be two difficult on mouse and keyboard. Users will require to dance and be patient and duck dip dive and roll.
Haven't slept much but I wanted to make buttons multi use like on controllers tap and hold for multiple things makes it easier on my hands. Right click is crouch hold to dive, and etc 4-5 buttons max and Just timing is big currently
created a Demolition Map - with the map editor its quick and responsive but needs to be fine tuned .... everything needs fine tuning... Planning to launch soon on itch.io or steam playlets soon but have to fix mini things like the lag on game start that will cause small build up of frustration.
Game dev is no joke but a addicting cigarette

Well Gawd, Building a game is tedious, time consuming and ... tired. WARNING: May look the same as the last gameplay update. And again I do not want anyones money
Here's the update
Pros
Animations look better,
The Reticle jump feedback is satisfying however it center dot reticle needs fine tuning allow for the skill mechanics to be of use.
Added an interesting aim mechanic that should mimic controller play. I hope people can feel it, it looks the same but aiming feel incredible methodical now my philosophy is im old and not as skilled anymore so hopefully this allows old and young to play., What is lacking now is the visual punchiness of each shot cycling thru the barrel someone mentions Days of Defeat Source will research this more.
Worked a lot on the backend of the game and gunplay, security and bugs were the main problems trying to set up the legs before more game breaking BUGS become a bigger issue
Cons-
With gunplay feel came bullet trajectory stiffness. The trajectory doesn't match the intended reticle or it meets the point of contact too late. Hard to describe. Hopefully when new players play they will feel and can provide valuable feedback
Now my favorite part of Socom 2 was the strafe battles. Now mimicking strafe need fine tuning, I personally love how the limbs function in the Last of US, how they connect with walls how each foot has weight on the ground. So trying to fine tune a balance of punchlines. But with depth loses the quick decision. Currently in the pipeline is to make Strafe instant and power where each switch violently off centers from middle and the camera matches. In my head sounds and looks awesome but I doubt people will enjoy this feature.
thank you for reading. Hopefully see you guys soon there isn't enough time in the day...
edit:
Adding
sounds
Throwables with particle effects
Animations
And making guns
The goal is to get a playable demo that feels weighty... If enough people like then playstation is forced to remaster it

Here's the AI edit
Building a game is a marathon, but the mechanics are starting to come together. Here is the latest dev update on what’s working, what needs polish, and what’s currently in the pipeline:
The Wins (What’s Feeling Good)
Work-in-Progress & Challenges
Next in the Pipeline
Thanks for sticking around and reading the update. More to share soon!

Okay Known problems
Camera needs some work not dynamic enough
Bullet tracing and Hitbox problematic
Character Movement too stiff.
Shooting states not perfect but getting close
Strife Battles needs work. Trying to figure out Socom battle mechanics is probably why Socom feel off it is a tricky.
What I Enjoy
The Prone dives is fun as heck
The Prototype is one day at a time, have extreme ocd so called off of work working on this tiny saint. Need to stay hydrated
Hopefully I can enjoy this with future friends... Its lonely getting older.. Maybe I shouldn't work so much but. Time is short
Thank you guys would enjoy feedback

You all need to go to Steam and apply for the public play test of project confrontation. It looks really good and from what I’ve seen works well. It’s unreal engine 5 so you need a decent gpu. They have a custom desert glory and custom frost fire map (the oil rig map).
