Hope fully OK for me to post here too. Been a haul, and want to share.
2km x 2km floating main belt stack with elevator at the center, with 4km outer to hold radar towers. Foundations are as low as I could get with this perimeter, and stay flat. No trains, trucks, coal power or nuclear. Also, I'm sure I missed it, but I haven't seen anyone do vertical belts. Filter spiral, because I've put things on the wrong belts too often, and one sink for every ten belt overflows (gets clogged otherwise). Point and laugh, but it's been my happy place for a long while. I'm sure I'll be back, but this pioneer has constructed her last for a while.

EDIT: Most have probably moved on, but if you see... Thank You! Finishing left a bit of hole in me, and interacting with all of you... Felt really good! I hope you all Save the Day!

Question How do you stay organized and remember where everything is stored?

Post image
350 Upvotes

On my first playthrough, just started phase 4. I've loved playing this game, but once I got aluminum and the hoverpack it all of a sudden got very overwhelming. I put signs on all the storage containers, but I still end up flying around forever trying to remember where those damn iron rods are kept, for instance...

The screen shot is from "old town" where its basically all iron/steel production still is. I have a separate refinery section, an aluminum plant, and power section (those are all much better compartmentalized and layed out). But the production of the late-game items gets so complicated and interwoven I'm getting frustrated.

How do you even remember where everything is?

Tough choice here, unsure what would benefit me on my x50 play through.

Look, I'm the self professed and claiming to be "slowest satisfactory player in the world". I spend as much time drooling in a static mode of paralysis as I spend actually building something. I have no idea if I'll, in the end, have the grit or will to see this folly of a project through. But in the mean time, have a blast and laugh at me, would you, while you gaze upon the root of my future brain aneurysm. I give you... the skeleton of what is meant to become my "nitro rocket fuel + other stuff" temple. To be continued... hopefully...

Question My trucks keep stopping and causing massive traffic jams... what am I doing wrong?

Thumbnail

So I've "saved the day" a bunch of times using the gazillion-Km-cross-country-stacked-belt-method. I decided to change it up and try out a mass truck fleet.

The newest updates have made a huge improvement over the past; I didn't have any trucks randomly dumping their cargo at the wrong station! yay! Unfortunately I keep running into a glitch where the entire system grinds to a halt because 1 vehicle gets confused.

A vehicle just stops, for no reason: All the vehicles have fuel... the routes have all been running for hours..... nothing has been changed... nothing is blocked... nothing new was added... and yet a vehicle stopped. I can take over in manual and drive forward to clear the jam, but wow that's annoying to do over and over. :-/

Is there an obvious solution to vehicle stoppages?

Screenshot Had to drop the game for a few months. Game back with the desire to build better

About five months ago, I made this post saying how much I sucked at building in this game. Soon after that power plant, I had to drop the game for personal reasons.

Now that I'm back, I decided to start anew and make the best use of the advice you guys gave me. And honestly, I love how it turned out to be!

Specification:
6x Water Extractor running at 83.3333%
8x Coal Generators running at 166.6667
Assemblers and Trucks configured to produce a little over 96 Compact Coal per minute

final edit: so, thank you all for helping me or make me laugh with that invincible meme, i downloaded the mod, and now i am happy that one train used one of those extra lanes :3

400 Generators Later, My 100,000MW Rocket Fuel Project is Done!

I've never done such a large project before - and I know a lot of folks here wouldn't consider this a large project. But previously the biggest thing I did was a 50,000MW Nuclear plant.

After 1602 hours, this was my first time making Rocket Fuel, and I'm extremely happy with how this turned out!

I don't recall ever seeing this rainbow before. I'm in the desert, mass harvesting all the nodes, when suddenly a rainbow appears. Love it.

I built these a while ago but was flying over the red forest and re-noticed them. Just fun little outposts to fly out the baux rather than ugly belts thru the forest. Thought I would share

People only post pictures of their super big awesome well organized factories, and I don't blame them for flexing, but its depressing to compare them with what I've done! This scene is from a section I'm working up the courage to re-build, but until then, I would appreciate it if you could share pics of any deep dark secret spaghetti factories your using. Thanks!

Oil production to the West. Main Base to the Southwest. Chips and end game production in the center. Turbofuel production to the Southeast and a BIG nuclear factory to the East.

Game was fun. Might try a 100% run next.

Getting a bit overwhelmed now I've reached steel production

30 hours in, I've rebuilt my original factories to maximise output with mk 2 miners, not a single ingot wasted in production of reinforced iron plates, rotors, iron plates, iron rods, wire, cables and copper sheets. Industrial storages are filled to the brim and now those factories exist to just pump into the sink.

I've built a coal power plant, I've built a steel plant that makes beams and steel pipes, same thing, just pumping into the sink.

This is where I've gotten overwhelmed, producing parts that require parts from those factories. Am I supposed to try and transport those finished goods into new factories? Do I build new factories for the new parts (like enclosed industrial beams) that manufacture those original parts all over again? Do I send all earlier tier parts into a localised storage and pull from that to supply the new factories?

Photo dump of my latest project on a new save. Random nodes, all pure. This is my computer and electronics facility. Also some bonus spaghetti and a shot of the cathedral which houses the phase 2 factory.

Feature Request: More node info in map

We currently have claimed and purity level.

Once claimed, it would be amazing to have stats on the node output: units/min, efficiency %, clock speed, other? Basically the info you would see by walking up to the miner and viewing it (which becomes unpractical as you claim more, further nodes).

Could be MAM unlocked and/or require a radar tower to not overwhelm newer players.

Is there a mod for this already?

Question Is Aluminium possible with Water recycling?

After almost 2400 hours I thought I understood fluid mechanics. I guess that's my first mistake.

So, for my Aluminium setup I'm using the Water I get from the Aluminium Scrap to produce the Alumina Solution, and getting the Rest from a Resource Well nearby (picked a bad spot and can't easily get lots of water inbound). I know using the byproduct Water can lead to pipes filling up so I added buffers and underclocked the Resource Well by about 1/min, thinking that meant I'd be using more than I was producing, but no matter what I try, my pipes fill up and my production stops. If I just void the Water from the Scrap, I'd have to bring in more which would kinda ruin the aesthetic of my build, so I really wanna avoid that.

Does anybody know if a setup like this is even possible? I don't mind if my production rates fluctuate slightly as long as I can leave it and not think about it anymore. Thanks very much in advance!
