Discussion Finally got genichiro
This is my first playthrough, I'm quite new to gaming played only witcher 3,elden ring and ghost of thsusima so far
It took me about an hour's worth of tries but i finally did, I've heard things like he's impossibly hard
Here are some questions that I could also google but I'd rather ask experienced players
1) What % of the main story have I progressed so far
2) are further bosses much more harder then him or does it get easier
3) is the dragonrot curing limited if yes then at what threshold Should I follow that if the help percentage get's below this I'll do the curing
4) are there any prosthetics or skills that allow chain assassination like ghost of thsusima or anything similar
5) I had 2 prayer beads and 2 remembernce bosses attack power i.e. Butterfly and Gyoubu, was a overlevaled for him?

Till now ive only ever had a 3 lightning reversal exchange max with malevolent genichiro (was in muscle memory which is why i took a step back after the 3rd one) but 2 extra was a pleasant surprise. Unmatched combat, always soothes me. Thank you modders!

News Thanks for all the messages + what we're actually making
First of all: thank you. I genuinely didn't expect this many comments and DMs, and I've read all of them. Sorry if I couldn't reply to everyone one by one, so here's one answer for all of you.
What the game is: a Sekiro-like built around parry and posture. That's the core, and everything else is designed around it β no stamina-dodge spam, no build that lets you skip the fight. You learn the rhythm of the enemy or you don't get through. The setting, though, is not feudal Japan: we're going for a gothic soulslike atmosphere β cathedrals, crypts, dead cities, that kind of mood. Sekiro combat, Bloodborne-ish world.
About the world: we're not chasing size. No huge empty map. We'd rather build a smaller world with places that are actually worth walking into and remembering β dense, handcrafted, gothic. Quality over square kilometers.
We also have a second idea we're sitting on, but we still need to talk it through between us, so I'm not going to announce anything I'm not sure about yet. When it's decided, you'll hear it here first.
One thing I should say, since a few people asked how we got this far so fast: I've been building stuff in my spare time for about a year now, purely out of passion. So we didn't start from zero β a lot of the systems and content were already in place before this became "a project".
What's next: very soon I'll post a video/demo of a dungeon that will be part of the actual world of the game. Not a mockup, not a test level β an actual place you'll walk through.
Thanks again, seriously. The response has been way more than we expected, and it's the main reason we're pushing on this.

Tips / Hints First time playing, what should I know besides mechanics?
Iβve made it to the troll and found the flashback area and trained with the immortal guy.
I just wanted to post on this subreddit since most of the people here are pros at this game.

Help Demon of Hatred Fire Slam AoE Attack Help (For UDB Run)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi, I am doing an NG UDB run of Sekiro (Charmless, Demon Bell, Base Vit, AP1) and I am so close to beating Demon of Hatred.
Other than me choking because I get scared in the thirty minutes the fight lasts and then don't react properly to a move and die making me hate my life, this move DoH gets in his second and third phase as a long range attack is the one move left that I feel like I have not fully mastered.
I understand that idea of running to the side and jumping as the hand slams down to avoid the fire AoE and grappling hook to close distance. But sometimes I swear I do that and get clipped anyway and I was wondering if there was someone who knew this fight better than me could tell me why that is the case?
In the attached video, I have five clips, the first and fifth are of me dying to it and the middle three are me dodging it.
From what I can gather, the reason I died was because I was too close and needed to jump more preemptively of the hand slamming into the ground. Is that accurate? Or is it just inconsistent no matter what at that distance and I should try and stay in the far range to dodge consistently?
Or am I wrong entirely and it's the unelevated nature of the arena is the reason as to why I am dying/dodging this move feels inconsistent?
If anyone knows how this move works so I can iron out my deaths to it, it would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Tips / Hints Could you rate my fight against Inner Isshin?

You see, I've started creating content about Sekiro, but honestly, it's not going very well. I was wondering if you could give me some tips on how to stand out more.
By the way, I was completing the "Abandonment" challenge without upgrading physical attributes, and I was really nervous.

Discussion Ego?
Am I the only one who wants to deflect EVERYTHING that is parryable ofc. I do it every single time, even the hard ones like Genichiro multi attack, meaning that if I miss the last deflect I am as good as dead. I don't sidestep or run away if it's deflectable. It just gives the good feeling

Media Platinum β
Prolly my favorite combat of all the souls games, hardest bosses for me were 1. Inner isshin, 2. Demon of hatred, 3. Hirata owl (I thought inner father was actually easier)
