So we all know the story of Jeffrey Katzenberg and how he was fired from Disney; went on to found Dreamworks in an act of petty revenge against Michael Eisner, etc.

My question is: **Do you think Shrek works as a satirical attack against Disney the company and the way it adapts Fairy Tales and books into animation, or is it more narrowly aimed at certain leadership in that company?**

Like I’m not sure what the Shrek and Puss in Boots films are actually saying about Disney other than cheap potshots here and there at the general fairy tale aesthetic?

I heard a theory that he's the most important character in the first movie. And that's beacuse he does three things: 1) He really help Shrek to open up to others 2) He's the one who knew about Fiona's secret, and he also talks to her, about telling Shrek the truth and 3) He helps out Shrek to get to the wedding on time, after he assure's him, that Fiona wasn't talking about him, when she talks about "Monster".

The film's still got just under a year before release, and the fact we're seeing teasers this early makes me think the team might actually be taking feedback on board and tweaking things before it's locked in. So I'm trying to trust the process a bit here.

Having the three kids as teenagers feels like the logical next step for the story. My worry is that the film leans too hard on their humour and it ends up overshadowing the actual plot. I want them to grow into characters people actually like, not just comic relief filling screen time.

Glad the original cast is coming back. Also caught a nice little nod to 48 Hrs with Eddie Murphy singing Roxanne — small detail, but it's the kind of thing that makes me think whoever's writing this still cares about the characters.

Further Further Away as a new location is a decent continuation of the Far Far Away naming. Could come across as a bit lazy, sure, but honestly I'm just glad they're giving us a new setting instead of recycling the same kingdom again.

Should Artie, Merlin, or the princesses come back? I'd say no — there's already a risk of overcrowding the cast with the new kids taking focus, and adding more returning characters on top of that just dilutes everything further. Maybe a passing mention here or there, but nothing more.

I want to be optimistic about this one. I really don't want it to be the film that kills the franchise off for good, and I'm hoping they can actually pull it together. Worth remembering that Puss in Boots: The Last Wish caught almost everyone off guard by being genuinely great after the franchise felt pretty stale — if Shrek 5 can bring even some of that same energy, it's got a real shot.

Overall: trying to stay open-minded, but there are enough question marks here that I can see this one falling apart just as easily as it comes together.

Like he always gets bothered by his friends and can't enjoy peace, Fiona got mad at him after he snapped due to him trying to control his anger. and his friends especially Donkey all get off scot free because it shows Shrek is in the wrong because he is supposed to be calm about not acting like a crazy ogre because they are HIS FRIENDS WHO DID NOTHING WRONG!!!! I also hated how Shrek is the one in the wrong where he is trying to get peace and quiet but can't due to his friends causing mischief. This is why I prefer only Shrek and not the others ugh.

Okay hear me out. We have a lot of fun at my bible study, and we are doing a PowerPoint night and we’ve all been assigned a random topic… and mine is “what if biblical figures starred in shrek?”

So, I’ve come here for some input. I need some inspiration but I have some questions to spark some ideas
1. Is shrek theologically sound?
2. Who would all the shrek main characters be if they were played by bible characters?
3. Any other thoughts or feelings???

i wonder if shrek forever after will not be referenced in shrek 5 since shrek is the only one who keep his memories from the alternate reality and shrek will never mention to his family and other friends about what happen to him in the alternate reality and keep himself his time in the alternate reality as a secret.
