I thought we were done with one shot ultimates in smite 2 :(

I gave Smite 2 a chance.

I played Smite 1 for about 5 years when it got released. Played around 3000 hours and got to Diamond 1 back then.

For the first time, I tried Smite 2, 2 weeks ago. One of my old friends asked me to play again with him so I did. The nostalgia kicked in and we played around 50 hours in the past 2 weeks.

The game is fun and we managed to play some ranked like the good old days, but something about the game feels wrong.

First, the comeback mechanics are way to overturned. Me and my friend were playing ranked conquest in duo lane, and we could go 10-0 in lane and still only be ahead like 1000 or 2000 gold by 30 mins. Then after, the other carry would only push and farm for 10 min and we would get back to almost even.

I understand that you need to use this advantage to get ahead and do objectives but that brings me to my second point: people in Smite 2 don’t understand anything about how a MOBA is played.

Most of the players are just playing arena with lanes in Ranked Conquest. Maybe it’s different in demigod matchmaking but in Plat and below it’s 100% like this. This results in having a game where people don’t understand the fundamentals and the only way to get ahead is to play around said fundamentals (doing objectives and using teammates).

This also brings another problem: no way to secure massive objectives. Often you would win a fight and go for an objective, but in the early game people re-spawn fast and use the TP mechanic so they can come back and try to steal it. Back then (smite 1) supports had Hand of God and could secure the objective. This also creates the dynamic where if you kill the support, you know you can do the objective safely.

All of this makes no sense at all in game balancing perspective. The game doesn’t let you snowball and 1v9 the other team, but the game also doesn’t give you tools to do objectives safely.

And before people lash out about skill issues in the comments, you are right! I am not the most skilled player at all, but it’s not even about skills, it’s about rewarding the players for a good play. When you kill the duo lane at 10 minutes, you should be rewarded with the opportunity to do the gold fury safely. You should not say to yourself: ’’well I won’t go for gold in case the enemy team steals it’’. This is just bad design.

So, I will not continue playing Smite 2. It was fun while it lasted but this game was only a nostalgic experience at best. I think this game can be fun for new players who never experienced Smite 1, but for me this feels like a worse game with better graphics.

DISCUSSION Non-conquest balance changes should be made ASAP

Yes, i am talking that about what thousands people already said about Aphro base ult CD and how it goes with abusing strong-flat CDR in this game and this should be addressed for all casual gamemodes (Guan Yu aspect and Chronos aspect has no CD with flat-cdr items too)

Btw i am fine with 2-3 bruisers in joust meta comps cause i know that you can counter them with just 1 adc in your team. I just hate fact that people tries to play like its ranked with most obnoxious CC rape team comp that abuses CDR items

Maybe its time to do something with how broken CDR in this game ?! cap it or make ults like this having have base CD 110-120 seconds

Is anyone else unhappy with the current feel of the game?

I'm gonna start by saying my bias...I absolutely hate the game right now.

Does anyone else feel like the game just feels aimless right now.

1) There is no identity in builds due to the meta build being too prevalent in every role

2) The SAME gods are played every game, if you are not playing those gods the rest of the gods are pretty bad right now

3) The SAME items are build pretty much every game due to again...bad itemization

4) Role passives have killed starters so now most starters are just bad.

The game just feels bad. Sure its kinda balanced, but its not fun. It's not fun to play or watch.

I think the resolution requires a HUGE balance pass, a revert of a lot of +1's, a HUGE nerf on CC and actually let it stick and most importantly...they NEED a new map.

DISCUSSION Agility greaves counters plucks? Bug?

Upvotes

I’m not a usual smite reddit poster but I came across this game interaction and felt that I needed to make a post to see if this is common knowledge that I’ve simply missed or if I’ve come across a bug.

Yesterday I was playing an assault with my buddies and I rolled herc therefore, during the game I’m cooking up herc pluck combos but then the enemy Osiris would simply dash back in mid air every time I plucked him and then I took a look at the build and saw that he had agility greaves and that’s what was responsible.

Is this an intended game mechanic or a bug?

The Osiris was pretty chill in the post game chat actually and told me that they believed its intended as it’s programmed like Jing dash but it just didn’t look for feel right to me!

DISCUSSION I wish the 1st and 2nd role slots didn’t have the same priority

I want to play Mid the most but also would rather not play Jungle or Support (because I find them the hardest), so I put Carry in the 2nd slot (and Solo in 3rd but that’s not important here). But then I only get Mid instead of Carry in about 1/3 matches because they have the same priority.

I feel like it should be

Most Preferred -> Strongly Preferred -> Preferred -> Not Preferred -> Least Preferred,

Instead of

Strongly Preferred (2x) -> Preferred -> Not Preferred -> Least Preferred.

CONCEPT Aspect Artio potential buffs concept - SMITE 2

Post image
7 Upvotes

Artio aspect is far worse than base, that’s not saying much considering how good base Artio is, but I think it just needs a few things to make it good. One thing it should get back is the invigoration passive, but separate, make Druid form get the mana regen, and bear form receive the movement speed, this would make her so much better and much more reasonable to pick aspect. Another change she could use is specifically in bear form, like giving ult a bit more synergy with the kit, like if it hits 3 times it adds the bleeding affect or, like the knock back affect on it explode the blood affect similar to the 2. For Druid form try to make it more support focused, like increasing the heal scaling on intelligence, or make it so when an opponent is rooted it applies a small health shield to her allies not herself though. These are just some suggestions, and honestly think only the invigoration passive should honestly be considered.

Thanks for reading

HELP brother asked me about the buy all

Hello everyone! My little brother loves the game and wants to get the Grim Pact Saga buy all. He asked me if he would get the ravager and slayer skins if he bought it. We looked at it together and I can tell he gets the main Neith skin, the one on the first page, and skins for other gods buuut maybe because I’m getting old but I can’t tell if he’ll get the other two Neith skins and their recolors. I figured I would ask you fine folks here. I did a bit of googling and couldn’t quite be sure either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely…an again millennial who’s honestly wondering if video games are passing him by and just wants to help his brother.

DISCUSSION Pred vs Smite

After playing both games i hardly can keep playing smite. I really like the old standard moba design of smite since it reminds me of my time in lol but predecessor is just better in anyway possible. I do like the 3v3 mode better on smite tho, the 3v3 gives another dynamic i enjoy.

CONSOLE SMITE 2 Ranked Matchmaking Is Getting Worse — PC vs Console

Upvotes

I genuinely don't understand how Hi-Rez keeps making SMITE 2's ranked matchmaking worse and worse. At this point, it's getting really hard to believe this is accidental.

Today I played 5 ranked Conquest games. All 5 of them. In every single game, the majority of my teammates were console players, while the enemy team was almost entirely made up of PC players playing through Steam or Epic Games.

Like, what the hell kind of ranked matchmaking is this?

I've been playing SMITE for years. I've played every role. I reached Master in SMITE 1, and I reached Master in SMITE 2 as well. I've watched my MMR drop from around 6000 to 4000 and even lower. The skill distribution between teams is so ridiculous that sometimes it's hard to believe both teams were even created by the same matchmaking system.

And apparently Hi-Rez calls this "competitive matchmaking."

The funniest part is that Hi-Rez apparently thinks putting PC and console players into the same ranked lobbies doesn't create any problems.

It does. A serious one.

I'm not saying every console player is bad. Obviously there are good console players. That's not the point. The problem is that Conquest is a competitive 5v5 MOBA. The input method matters. Mechanical precision, camera control, reaction time, targeting, communication and overall mechanical execution are extremely important in Conquest.

If I were playing Joust, I wouldn't really care if I got a console teammate. I can compensate for one player.

But Conquest is different.

When I have 3–4 console players on my team while the enemy team has 4–5 PC players, I'm expected to somehow compensate for a disadvantage that the matchmaking system itself created.

Why?

Because apparently Hi-Rez's brilliant solution for ranked matchmaking is:

"Put everyone in the same lobby and let them figure it out."

Absolutely incredible design.

And then someone will inevitably say, "skill issue."

No.

If the platform distribution between the two teams is heavily different, that's a matchmaking problem. How can you seriously call a system competitive when one team consistently has a completely different input distribution from the other?

At this point, Hi-Rez's matchmaking system feels less like an actual competitive matchmaking system and more like a random number generator with a nice user interface.

MMR isn't enough.

Tracker Score isn't enough.

Individual player performance isn't enough.

Platform distribution clearly isn't being properly considered.

And then Hi-Rez looks at the resulting match and says:

"Yep, that's a ranked game."

No, it isn't.

It's five random players being thrown onto two teams, with the matchmaking system pretending it actually did something intelligent.

And the frustrating part is that this isn't even difficult to fix.

You could have PC-only ranked. You could have console-only ranked. At the very least, balance the PC/console distribution between both teams. Fix the MMR system. Actually take player performance into account instead of randomly filling lobbies just to get people into a game.

And yes, if that means PC players have to wait longer for a match, let them wait.

If a PC player normally finds a match in 2 minutes but a properly balanced matchmaking system requires 10 minutes, then wait 10 minutes. If it takes 15 minutes, wait 15 minutes.

Personally, I'd much rather wait 15 minutes for a balanced and genuinely competitive ranked game than wait 2 minutes and get thrown into a lobby that is already obviously unbalanced in terms of platform and player quality before the game even starts.

If better matchmaking requires longer queue times, so be it.

A matchmaking system that actually cares about ranked players should care less about "How quickly did we find a match?" and more about "How fair are these two teams?"

And if a console player can't accept waiting 10–15 minutes for a properly balanced ranked match, then they can play another game mode instead. There are already other modes available for console players. Hi-Rez's solution shouldn't be throwing PC players into consistently unbalanced lobbies just so console players can find a match within a few minutes.

Stop sacrificing matchmaking quality just to make queue times look good.

If Hi-Rez wants SMITE 2 to be taken seriously as a competitive game, maybe they should start by making ranked matchmaking actually competitive.

Because right now, the biggest opponent in ranked isn't the enemy team.

It's Hi-Rez's matchmaking algorithm.

And judging by these games:

The algorithm is undefeated.

CONCEPT Jing Wei Aspect Idea

Slowly plan to go through all the Gods who either A: Don't have an Aspect, or B: Have an Aspect that is either polarising or just is generally bad, either because it changes too much, doesn't change enough, or the changes it makes aren't really impactful enough to warrant playing it.

Balance isn't really the point, it's mainly the idea that I'm more interested in.

Jing Wei: Aspect of Gales (Jungle/Mid)

Persistent Gust is now larger, but the knock up size is smaller. Two Persistent Gusts can be active at any one time. Explosive Bolts is now treated as Ability Damage, triggers Ability Item Effects, and grants Echo instead of Critical Chance; Explosive Bolts now grants 5 shots, instead of 3, but with reduced Attack Speed and you can no longer gain additional charges. Landing at least 3 shots on an enemy God resets Persistent Gust's cooldown, once per use of the ability. When you use Agility from Persistent Gust, you gain additional Echo, but reduced Strength. Air Strike loses 20% Strength scaling, but gains 10/15/20/25/30 Echo.

HELP How to early game when nobody wants to?

Hello everyone!! Sorry if the title is vague but lemme explain.

Im not new to smite in general but I am new to smite 2 and I definitely notice the early game is a bit more different and you need to coordinate w/ your team so that everyone is roughly the same level especially with jungle (the whole thing with mid and Jgl helping each other get level 3)

My question is!! What the hell do I do when my mid doesn't want to help me???? How do I go about making sure I dont fall behind???

It can also be the same for vice versa I played a mid game last night and I helped my jungle but then he just skipped cyclops camp and red and I was just out of the game from there.

I totally understand were all new but damn nobody wanted to help each other till it was too late and I just felt like the game was doomed from the start.

Sorry for the rant on top of it all but I genuinely just felt so helpless trying to I guess do the proper option and got screwed over because I tried to.
