How does marketing work?
Doing okay right now can make and do stuff. But haven't figured out how marketing works. Any tips or general guides? The tutorial doesn't go over it well.

My web-host changed how they handle http requests when uploading files, which meant that bug reporting and logo sharing was broken, due to both uploading files to my website. I have now fixed these requests, so they will once again work. I don't have anything else to say about the matter...
Here is a teaser for the subsidiary CEO mechanic I'm working on for the overhaul:

Havent maxed it out yet but probably will soon. Focusing on making games right now still fairly new. Just wonder how to deal with running out of customers later on.

It seems like making anti-virus and office software is unprofitable in 1993...
Also, their franchise has 2 products and mine has 4, this is on Medium difficulty.

Heyho,
I'm quite new to the game so I did not figure out much. ...still struggling with the accounting feature lol.
I would like to now what would be the optimal team composition. Like do I have a team which is doing design, programming and art or is it better to have a team for design, one for programming and one for art?
And how big would those teams to be for producing good/fast products?
Also how does accounting work? I have 3 members doing accounting but I fail every time to fill the tax report T-T
Also my first marketing team is also 4 people but I cannot really build followers with that.

Hi all,
Yesterday I made a post stating that I was not happy with the embedded systems contracts. These were highly volatile and not profitable/working at all.
I, and to come clean about it, I had help from AI, made a mod which changes the net profit for embedded systems by X10. This makes embedded systems contracts worth doing.
The mod is also adjustable from X1 (vanilla game) to X20 (which I felt was too overpowered. I settled on a default X10, which is arguably still a bit overpowered.
The multiply is also adjustable in game by esc > options > mods > adjust the slider. Alternatively you can adjust the setting in the main menu > mods.
Please, if you are also interested in running a manufacturing factory/printing business and want to utilize embedded systems contracts in a meaningful way, you're welcome to give this mod a try.

Hi all
I know there has been plenty of posts about this common issue but none of the potential issues actually applied on my case ;
- No new RTS game released
- Stock not empty
- Consumer maximum reach not obtained
- Regularly updated to latest tech and to fix bugs
Is it because "The Dynasty Life 3" is better overall ?
But why has it gave me a few glory years before completely dying if TDL3 was better from releaes ?

Under "Contract work" you can find many different contracts to make profits. One of these are "embedded systems". I can't seem to get them to work.
These embedded systems requires assembly lines. Easy enough. The thing is, you need to print 1m+ copies, each costing $65 something dollars. You only net profit $0,50 for each copy. This constantly puts your company in dept since it costs 65m to print. In the end you profit somewhere around $400k, while spending tens of millions.
Ps; the "income" that is mentioned, doesn't seem to pay out.
Has anyone got this to work? To me it seems like a big oversight. I think you're meant to profit way more for each copy, just like in the manufacturing deals.
Does anyone know a mod with which you can adjust these contract work profits?
Thanks in advance!

i have played software inc for quite a while, but after reaching a certain point, the income becomes stagnant at around 20-50M per month.
is there a way to increase it?
i keep 1 building cuz too many buildings get confusing with too many teams and projects
i have focused on researching, stocks, bonds, making softwares (OS and 2D), and manufacturing/printing, also made a digital platform in the recent update before i reach 2000s
how can i optimize it and what things should i focus on more?
also, is making multiple buildings with multiple different teams worth it?

ive played a little bit of this game before and i wanna play again but make a game studio. I know the business side is very detailed but is there any depth to the creative side of making games?

Workaround found! The employee in the elevator was on his way to a computer. Deleted the computer and everyone continues their day.
Hi! Did anyone come across this issue? There is an employee stuck in the elevator, everyone else who is waiting are also stuck.
I am in a lease building so I cannot delete and re-place the elevator.

My company has around 110 employees and I have around $150,000,000 in the bank.
I've noticed that projects seem to be taking longer to complete, and I'm wondering if my team structure could be part of the problem
Currently, I have relatively small teams of around 10 people that are specialized in one area. For example, I have separate teams for:
Would it be better to have larger, more broad teams of, say, 30 people, with a mix of programmers, designers, and artists working together?

This game is insanely complicated but for some reason I can’t stop trying to make good products!
r/SoftwareInc • u/No_Application_5497 • 25d ago
I don’t have any screenshots to explain but I had something like 30% in a small company worth maybe 20m, which was then bought out by one of the biggest companies in the save. The newspaper said ”company x was bought out by company y and [my company]. When I checked company x’s page all the shares were owned by company y but I never got any money for the shares I owned. Can someone explain? Is it a glitch or is that normal?

Work on the overhaul is moving forward at a steady pace. Here are some of the things that have changed since last.
You can now develop your own server products and use them for hosting your software, or use servers already on the market.
A server's bandwidth, durability, power usage and security will depend on which features you select during development. The security attribute will lower the impact of DDoS attacks.
DDoS attacks will happen more frequently the bigger your company gets, but can also be carried out by other players in multiplayer. Your IT staff will work to mitigate any attacks.
3 audiences have been added to the game, each of which interact with your products in different ways. Some will be more or less likely to refund, more or less sensitive to pricing, or increase or reduce support tickets, etc.
Each type of software will affect the target audience, based on how you balance the market targeting. At a base level each audience is targeted equally and will not affect your product, outside of how it already works now.
You can now hype products during development. Hype will increase total audience reach, but also audience expectations, so you better not make too many promises!
Hype, press releases and press builds are out and have been replaced with:
Pre-marketing: Basically like the old hype task, but it doesn't just stop you from losing followers, it will be your only way to gain followers and hype during development.
Messaging: You will be able to update your messaging about 4-8 times during development, which will hone in on your target audience and increase your reach, but also allow you to hype your product and nudge your target audience.

2D editors, audio tools, and more from mods feel rather empty and as a user put it: "It would be funny if your team mood was affected by the quality of their programming tools. “The 2D Editor I have to use is straight garbage.”<<<" - Discord User Nuker1110 I have been working on something similar and this popped the idea forward.
Every software project in this game asks you to pick the tools it depends on. A 2D editor for the art, developer tools for the code, a database, an audio tool. You choose one for each, either something your own company made or something you license from a rival. Right now that choice barely matters. The game checks how modern the tool is, charges you the license fee, and forgets about it. A brilliant editor and an ancient buggy one do the same work at the same speed. This mod gives that choice consequences, and more importantly it shows you what those consequences are. What you see
Your staff say what they think. Select someone working on the project and hover over them, and a bad tool shows up as a thought over their head. Those complaints also appear in the company complaints window alongside every other grievance.
Every one of those can be switched off on its own, and the whole mod has an overall strength setting of Off, Gentle, Normal or Strong. Tool Quality Inc

If you've ever tried to run more than two or three data mods at once, you know the drill. You tick one in the mod list, the game throws up "could not be enabled", and it tells you nothing about why. So you start clicking them on in different orders like you're guessing a combination lock, and sometimes it works and you have no idea what you did.
I got tired of that, so I made Global Data Compatibility.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3772582486
It's a code mod that sits on the mod selection screen and reads every data mod you have installed. It figures out which mod should own each software type when several of them claim the same one, sorts the load order, and quietly patches up the conflicts that make the game refuse a mod.
Everything lives in Options > Mods > Global Data Compatibility. You get:
Enable it before you start a new game. Software Inc bakes the software catalog in when you create your company, so this has to be on beforehand. It won't do anything to a save you've already got going, and it won't break one either.
Subscribe, then turn it on under Options > Mods > Code mods.
Happy to hear how it goes with your setups. If you've got a combination of mods it can't sort out, tell me which ones and I'll take a look.

Hey all, I have added lots of compatibility to my mod via ModernInc+ and created a collection of additional mods the community requested support for. I have also added more functionality into ModernInc+ to offer players the ability to make websites for their products. Below I will detail the changes to the ModernInc mods and what the collection offers. Thank you all for using the mod!
Beyond this, I have tweaked various pieces of ModernInc+ to help the AI companies feel more balanced, even when you mod more in. However it is not perfect and I always appreciate saves and feedback to further balance the mod set.
I will stop yapping, here is the link for the collection! Have fun! ModernInc Compatible Mods Collection
Edit: I have moved compatibility work into a new separate mod that is in the collection. It adds global support for all mods* with plans to support it for at least a year as reports come in for unsupported mods.

Was configuring several project managements and started to get annoyed at how difficult it was to view my Teams list. So I'm thinking about potentially how difficult it'd be to mod in a Supercategory over Teams, for organization in the actual Teams list and potentially even just used as assignments.
Even better would be potential overlap between Categories, for the rare teams that might be dualist specialization (Designer and Developer).
I was wondering if anyone had any actionable advice, or was just also straight up willing to make something like this. Also the first *3 iterations of this post was force removed for some reason and i have no clue why

A while back, I asked here if there were any mods for creating subscription-based DLC, similar to how it works for the main products. I really wanted this feature, as I play using a subscription model—handling numerous users for every release and providing long-term support. Unfortunately, the game didn't offer a way to create subscription-based DLC, so I started releasing DLC monthly as an alternative; however, as the number of products grew, it required a lot of micromanagement. So, my question is: are there any mods that would allow me to automate the DLC creation process, similar to how the project management system works now?
Sorry, I'm writing using a translator.

Does anyone have some suggestions for a mod which adds a C-Suit and a deeper management to the teams and their organisational structure to the game? With real impacts to the hiring and culture of the company? Showing clearly the chains of responsibility?

Hi Guys!
Company Intelligence is a analytics code mod for Software Inc. It brings the active product portfolio into one focused window without changing the simulation.
It features:
