Just spent much of the past month in the Midwest. Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, and a bunch of other cities. Staten Island has worse traffic than all of them. Rush hour traffic on the Dan Ryan Expressway on Chicago might be bad in the evening rush, but the traffic ends eventually, unlike the westbound Staten Island Expressway which is jammed almost every daylight hour. Traffic on Forest Hill Rd any time of day? Worse than downtown in any of these cities. This city and this island are so ridiculously mismanaged. I've spent more time in traffic just on the island the last 2 days than I did in 2+ weeks combined in Indianapolis, Columbus, Louisville... Mind blowing. The number one thing that infuriates me about this place.

I got a robocall last night at 7:30 PM from our cong. rep's office stating: I could participate in a "live telephone town hall" but only if I called a certain number within the next half hour. I was not in a position to copy down a phone number or to change my evening plans 30 minutes ahead of time, so I didn't.
I've never heard of a "telephone town hall", and can't imagine it actually allows constituents to be heard. For example, who was sleected to ask questions?
Anyway, did anyone "attend"? Is there a recording? A transcript? Is there some reason our rep can't conduct in-person town halls?

Any ladies on the island that like to rave or go to house music shows? Would love to connect!
I’m 30f for reference. Looking forward to meeting more raver friends :)

Hey Everyone,
Thanks for reading. I just learned most of the Game Stops on the island are listed for retro now. Is there one that is considered “the one” to go to for older games and consoles like SNES and Genesis/MD?

I have lived on the island for 4 years now and love it, despite the traffic. And although I have heard of some people here being racist, I mostly had a positive experience. However, I saw this while I was walking on Hylan Blvd today, and upon further research learned that it belongs to a white supremacist group. As a Middle Eastern man, should I be worried? Are these types of people a legitimate threat, or are they just a bunch of racist dorks?

Supposedly if you load the groceries correctly into the shopping cart will scan the item and you will able to pay on the cart and leave. I don't think they're going to pan out.

As the heading says, there is a crack in the wall and I need a decent fix at a decent price.

I don’t know how to explain it because I recently took a field trip to visit Staten Island as I got to visit Midland Beach for the first time as it was lovely in atmosphere.
Like when it comes to exercising in that particular area, there are plenty of places to do long walks as while it was a bit difficult to get there from Brooklyn, it was so worth the trip since I had so much fun that I want to go there again.

Is this how the Ez pass is supposed to look if you are a resident? I thought it was like 3 bucks

Hi, does anyone know of any card shops or local game stores on the island that sell a good amount of yugioh and not just as an afterthought?

So sorry if this was asked here before because I am excited to visit that particular area soon for a field trip as I was looking to see what kind of things I could go in the area. (Like tips on treasure hunting)

I’m sure it’s been asked but my request is specific. I want jade island type of Chinese food with out the hour and half round trip and I don’t think they’d deliver. We’re looking for the good won ton soup with the sliced pork in it. Thanks in advance!

Pack walk‼️
When: Saturday Aug 29th, gorgeous weather!!
Where: Greenbelt Field of Dreams. Baseball field behind the Costco 👈
Time: 10am. We start walking at 10:05 - feel free to catch up if you’re late. Gotta start walking at 10:05
Description: Come join us for our 3rd forest pack walk!! Every borough has these, so let’s start them up here on the greenbelt!!! All dogs welcome, let us know prior if your dog needs space. Bring your own supplies: water, bags, treats, etc.
This is a medium-paced walk. About 2.5 miles in total will be around 45 mins to an hour at most. If you feel that your dog is tired, you can most certainly turn back earlier. It’s an easy walk back.. A great way to socialize your dog in a structured environment.
Park at the baseball field.

I need to have a dent pulled out of my front passenger door after somebody decided it would be good idea to go into the lane I was turning from and I drove too close to a metal post when I trying to avoid them taking out the back of my car. I don't actually think I need a whole new door but I'm worried that any place I go will try to talk me into it.

Feels like it’s hard to find a pupusa spot in SI. Rest of the city I have no problem finding some great pupusas, but in this borough I’ve had no luck. No Salvis/Hondurans on the island or something? 😓
If any of y’all know a spot, PLEASE put me on.

Hi all,
Long story short, there is ongoing construction as of late in SG and because of that I’ve found that raccoons are being displaced. I’d imagine that some of them will venture outside of the area but are there any organizations that will relocate them to wooded areas?

Just schedueled a road test for this location. I'm unfamiliar with the area, and the last post I saw about road tests here was about 7 years old. Can anyone tell me a bit about the area/route/what to expect?
