Your submission has been removed for the following reason(s):

Rule 3: Support.

Do not create threads requesting support. This is not a tech support forum.

This mainly includes, but is not strictly limited to:

  • Refund issues
  • Technical support
  • Family sharing issues
  • Trading or market issues
  • Steam client or server issues
  • General crashes and game-specific issues
  • Questions about if others are facing the same issues
  • Account issues such as bans, hijackings/hacks, or Steam Guard

The above list is not exhaustive. Moderators can remove posts at their own discretion.

Do not ask "When will Valve reply to my ticket?", no one knows. Average response times and other Steam Support data are listed here.

Here are a few places you can ask for help in instead:

Our Monthly Community Support Threads.

The community-support channel in our Discord server.

/r/SteamSupport - (not affiliated with Valve)

Steam Support regarding a specific product.

The Steam Community Discussions hub. All games on Steam and specific features of Steam also have their own hubs where you can ask for help in.

Account issues

For account issues you must contact Steam Support for direct help. Regular users can only advise you on what to do with personal account issues; only Steam Support can directly solve them for you. Account hijacked? Read this.

You can find our full list of rules here.

If you feel your post was removed by mistake or is an exception, please feel free to message the moderators using this link. Please also give a short explanation.

Thats probably it then, you might need to flash a new img to it. Im not sure how you do that on the steamdeck but im sure there is a way.

First of all, no, he is not. It's nothing serious. Valve's hardware is meant to be tinkered with. They fully support and advertise that. And it's better to make a mistake like that on deck than on a proprietary device, that you have a potential to brick.

Second, just reinstall steamos back on it. Easy to do, decks aren't locked down. Here is an official guide https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/65B4-2AA3-5F37-4227

As someone who was an 11 year old tinkerer, just gotta let him muck about with software stuff.

Pretty soon he'll be setting up media servers for you before you know it

I did exactly this to my deck after trying to install windows. Likely via the same video as you. It's stuck in bootloop no need to panic.

You want to reinstall steam os onto your deck via a USB drive. There's a ton of videos on it. Hopefully you have some form of "dock" for your steam deck to plug in USB. If anyone in your family works from home they have a dock that steamdeck can also use.

Put steam os iso image thingy on USB drive. While holding the volume down button press the power button once. This will allow you to choose to boot into the USB drive you out steam os into. After some matrix movie lines of text you'll get the option to reinstall steam os. Research the reinstall option that fits your needs and you're done.

Steamdeck will be playable yet again.

I’m wary because I’ve been unable to even do the hold volume down button and power button it just goes straight into that loop in the video

7

u/hagathar 8h ago

Yeah but if you add the usb drive it will not default to the corrupt drive and will give you the option to boot from the usb

Aaaah makes sense! Thanks again will report back

How many charge cycles has it had? You've held power button down for 30 secs to hard reset?

-39

u/Jealous_Wasabi2361 17h ago

I’ve tried 12 seconds to switch off

Then holding minus sign plus three dots and press power - nothing happened

Tried everything but nothing happens

Not sure what you mean by charge cycles

34

u/TH3_OG_JUJUBE 17h ago

How many times has it been drained and recharged

-33

u/Jealous_Wasabi2361 16h ago

It’s not even a year old

17

u/TH3_OG_JUJUBE 16h ago

doesn't answer the question...

48

u/Primus_is_OK_I_guess 15h ago

Do you expect them to have counted?

-20

u/That_Service7348 15h ago

They should be able to tell us if they charge it once a day, 3 times a week, etc. Some information. But hey, you seem smart, we can just let you help them. Have fun.

-36

u/TH3_OG_JUJUBE 14h ago

I’m pretty sure you can just look in battery settings

35

u/Primus_is_OK_I_guess 14h ago

Yes, you can turn it on and check the battery settings. What is OP having trouble with again?

6

u/Jealous_Wasabi2361 14h ago

That’s all I can get from the steamdeck that constant screen looping all the time

I’ve tried holding the suggested buttons etc but nothing works
Think someone said partitions need reloading so might need to go down this road

u/Primus_is_OK_I_guess 14h ago

Do you have a USB-C thumb drive, or a dock and a USB A thumb drive?

If so, what you need to do is go to search for "SteamOS install" and follow the instructions for reinstalling/repairing the operating system.

i think you replied to an AI bot mate

2

u/Simen155 13h ago

Just, don't, when you obviously can't contribute to the conversation.

OP, please use Steam Supports guide on how to install/repair/re-image SteamOS, their guides is leagues better than whatever is suggested here.

-3

u/TH3_OG_JUJUBE 13h ago

What is happening bro I just shared that I thought you can check battery cycles in the battery settings 😭

3

u/Simen155 9h ago

OP can't boot. There is no 'settings' to access

u/Ill_Beginning_5252 16h ago

Le suele pasar mucho a la mía cuando la intento encender después de que se apague, intenta apretar con el botón de encendido el de volumen menos, o repite lo mismo con el de Steam o el de los 3 puntos, luego parpadea la luz de carga y a mí al rato me enciende

1

u/Misomuro 16h ago

At least clear the screen if you are gonna film it.

-21

u/1ndomitablespirit 15h ago

Why wouldn't you just reach out to Steam support instead of breaking Rule #3 of this sub?

9

u/Jealous_Wasabi2361 15h ago

Do you have nothing better to do with your day?

We can’t reach out to steam support as my son has locked his account out

I’ve also reached out to steam support but as yet no response

u/1ndomitablespirit 6h ago

So you teach your kid that patience isn't important, and it's better to break the rules of a community to get instant gratification? What a shitty parent you must be.
