I've been greeted with the news that Ubisoft is completely taking away my ability to play For Honor on September 10th on my favorite console. I'm more of a casual player and haven't made any purchases outside of the game itself, so I see no reason to really keep this game any longer. Am I able to refund it in this scenario?

Was down in Poole (south coast UK for those wondering) this weekend and saw this absolute unit in the docks, after a quick Google it turns out its Gabe Newall's.

It’s honestly kind of insane that we’re in 2026 and the Nemesis System still feels like some experimental mechanic from the future when Shadow of Mordor introduced it back in 2014.

For anyone who hasn’t followed what happened with it: Warner Bros. patented the system, the patent is still active, and the main US patent is currently listed as expiring in 2036. Monolith Productions( the studio that actually created the system) was shut down in 2025, and their Wonder Woman game, which was supposed to use the Nemesis System again, was canceled.

So we’re basically in this bizarre situation where one of the coolest systems created for open-world games is sitting there, associated with a studio that no longer exists, while almost nobody is meaningfully advancing the idea.

And I think gaming is worse off because of it.I’m not saying every open-world RPG needs to literally copy Shadow of War's Orc hierarchy.I’m saying the idea behind Nemesis should become an entire category of game design.Think about what we automatically expect from an RPG now:

Inventory.

Loot.

Skill/talent trees.

Crafting.

Companions.

Factions.

Dialogue choices.

Reputation systems.

These aren't considered special features anymore. They're part of the vocabulary of the genre.I think persistent, evolving NPC relationships should eventually belong on that list. if I fight some random bandit captain and barely escape, why should he disappear from existence five minutes later?

Why can't he remember me?

Why can't he get promoted because he defeated me?

Why can't he come back scarred from our previous fight?

Why can't another NPC hear about what happened?

Why can't killing someone's brother, commander, friend or rival dynamically affect how that character sees me?

Why can't an enemy I humiliated 20 hours ago suddenly appear while I'm doing something completely unrelated?

Why can't one player's open-world RPG generate stories that literally cannot happen in another player's playthrough?

While examples like Assassin's Creed Odyssey had its Mercenary hierarchy no game really recreated the full magic of having individual NPCs develop an ongoing history with the player and with each other.

What's your thoughts on this?

Can anyone help out, my sons Steamdeck is doing this (see video) and we can’t get past that can’t do power button and three dots how do we fix it

I previously shared an early concept of the Chargeplate over on r/steammachine, but after finishing the revisions, I figured the wider Steam community here might also find it useful!

The Chargeplate transforms the front of the Steam Machine into a seamless magnetic drop-in dock for the Steam Controller (using the official charging puck and a few magnets). It can be used in three distinct configurations:

• Front Replacement: Direct snap-on replacement for the stock front panel.
• Tabletop Dock: Clips into an included desk stand to work as a standalone desk charger.
• Side-Mounted Dock: Mounts along the side vents of the Steam Machine using custom clips, allowing you to charge multiple controllers simultaneously.

Based on initial feedback from users I also made some changes to improve the design even further, such as adding a hole for easy removal of the charging puck and revising the connections for the side mounted option.

Additionally I've also been working on some other faceplates that add a completely different style and some additional functionality to the front of your Steam Machine.

Recently, I came across a game that was expected to release this week. It baffles me the price of the game is not revealed until its release date on the store page.

For me to find the price, I have to search online else where; its not a pain but I feel it would just be a nice thing to have revealed especially because people are not going to look up the price for every single game that isn't released yet.

Sometimes, I wishlist upcoming games out of curiosity while browsing to revisit when they release; only to find the price is higher than I expected that game would cost; that does not mean the price is not justifiable, but it would let me know if the game was going to be in my budget or not.

I feel this would be a good addition to give users a clear idea on the price of the upcoming game; allowing them to be able to make judgement prior on if they'd like to purchase the game or spend their money elsewhere.

Edit: I just want it to be easier to see a price of upcoming games that come out in a few days, the price is already announced, this is just showing it visibly on the store page instead of having to search it online on your respective browser.

I've got a new oled and now I'm using the option to hide my taskbar, the problem is that steam in fullscreen almost always doesn't actually cover the screen fully at the bottom and has this little sliver of the actual background wallpaper seen. I', not even sure it's seen on the screenshot I made, but it is there. So is there someone else with an oled who's met with this and resolved it?

Ok so I tried searching it up I'm getting conflicting answers so I'm taking to reddit. My birthday is in the not so distant future and my papa (Mom's dad) is asking about my present wishlist for my birthday. He's not the most tech savvy person but I'm wondering with the new steam update in July how exactly I set him up so he can gift me a game or two? Also can he schedule those games while in guest mode? I don't want to have to force him into buying the day of if he wants to surprise me, or is it not worth the trouble and I just put "steam gift cards" on the list

Hi all. For anyone that owns a steam deck or steam OS device there is a setting that is called "Treat Game as running on a steam deck"

When enabled it adds an on screen keyboard that pops up automatically when a controller presses on a text box area. It makes it extremely easy to navigate certain games without a keyboard and mouse.

This setting is on my Steam Machine and Steam deck, but I was wondering if there is a way to enable this on Steam in Windows or other operating systems? Is this found in Windows Steam Big Picture mode? Or is there a launch code I can add?

You might find it interesting that I got the idea of this poorly thought-out, foolheartedly, and frankly very childish fear of keyboard deterioration from the Chessboard problem. Those familiar would have picked up on this long ago since you have clearly had a lot of time to figure it out before you came to this point in the text.

So what is the chessboard problem you ask? Well, let me tell you. The problems appear in many myths and legends about the history and creation of chess. The problem I'm having is that any very short inputs that are bound to LMB or RMB (in my case, tapping RT for an extremely short time (such as to spam it)), seem to result in the mouse click being held down indefinitely until I press it again. Does anyone know of an option/way to fix this?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I was hoping someone here knows a lot about the steam input options.

*I'm using an Xbox controller if it matters.

Edit: I've found an option in RT full pull-->settings to add a Fire End Delay. This (obviously) makes an input end after you let go, which has fixed my issue since it can stop the input from being able to be short enough to have the issue. I set the fire end delay to ~35ms, and it seems to have stopped it.
There might be a better solution, but nothing that I can think of, short of changing how steam input works, would fix it.

I keep buying games because I think "yeah I'll definitely play that soon" and then somehow three months pass and I haven't even launched it 😂

I have games in there that I genuinely forgot I owned.
