Question Ubisoft is removing Linux support on For Honor after 10 years since it's Launch. Because it's affecting my main platform, would I be able to refund it? I paid 60 bucks for it
I've been greeted with the news that Ubisoft is completely taking away my ability to play For Honor on September 10th on my favorite console. I'm more of a casual player and haven't made any purchases outside of the game itself, so I see no reason to really keep this game any longer. Am I able to refund it in this scenario?

Question Questions on gifting
Ok so I tried searching it up I'm getting conflicting answers so I'm taking to reddit. My birthday is in the not so distant future and my papa (Mom's dad) is asking about my present wishlist for my birthday. He's not the most tech savvy person but I'm wondering with the new steam update in July how exactly I set him up so he can gift me a game or two? Also can he schedule those games while in guest mode? I don't want to have to force him into buying the day of if he wants to surprise me, or is it not worth the trouble and I just put "steam gift cards" on the list

Game & Hardware Suggestions Megathread /r/Steam Monthly Game & Hardware Suggestions Thread.
Welcome to the Monthly Game & Hardware Suggestions Thread!
This monthly mega-thread is meant to contain advice, questions, suggestions & generic discussion on what to play or buy in terms of Games & Hardware.
Do you not know what to play? Want a Steam Deck or Steam Machine but unsure which model is best for you? Did you find a niche game that everyone should try? Wondering what GPU you should upgrade to or unsure about the specs of a computer? Do you want to share your unique experiences and learning curves with a piece of hardware? Can't find the perfect survival sim or unsure which 1 RPG out of the thousands available you should buy? Well this is the thread for you.
Now to make this work best and not just be spammed with generic & useless questions such as "What should I play?" or "What should I buy?", please be in-depth in what types of games/hardware you are looking for and why, and when giving advice it would be appreciated if you're more detailed than "I think X is good".
There are too many games to be able to properly suggest something with no background information, also simply commenting a game title and saying you like the game offers no actual value. The same goes for hardware: Saying you're thinking about buying X or you think Y is good with no other information, context as to why, your unique experiences, etc. offers no actual value or information to base a reply on.
Feel free to ask and discuss freely in the comments regarding games and hardware, whether you want advice on what to play, want to give advice to others on what to play, share a hidden gem you found, experiences you have with Steam hardware, or your review of a piece of Steam hardware. Generic discussions & questions about discounts, sales, events, specs is allowed as well. This is not meant to be a restrictive thread within the designated topics that this thread is for, however it is not a support thread nor is it the place to promote any blogs or curator pages or anything else, subreddit rules still apply.

Question Controller Shortcut to close browser window.
I made a shortcut in steam to open up prime video in edge browser to I can use my controller for it, but the steam overlay doesnt show up and I think it has something to do with the fact its a browser. I tried finding a solution but im probably just dumb and dont understand, how am I able to make a shortcut on my controller (for example RB + B) to close the window? I have it so it automatically sets the page to full screen so I cant just click the x button.

Question How to stop steam from downloading workshop files you already have
So now I have a new issue after i chose to "repair library" in my storage settings, steam wants to re-download all 140 gbs of workshop content for a game, even though I already have all of it installed, my drives are all too small to just switch the game folder to another drive. Would clearing download cache do anything in this situation?
Question Heya guys, does anyone else have this problem?

I've got a new oled and now I'm using the option to hide my taskbar, the problem is that steam in fullscreen almost always doesn't actually cover the screen fully at the bottom and has this little sliver of the actual background wallpaper seen. I', not even sure it's seen on the screenshot I made, but it is there. So is there someone else with an oled who's met with this and resolved it?
Discussion Treat Game as "running on Steam Deck" option on Windows?
Hi all. For anyone that owns a steam deck or steam OS device there is a setting that is called "Treat Game as running on a steam deck"
When enabled it adds an on screen keyboard that pops up automatically when a controller presses on a text box area. It makes it extremely easy to navigate certain games without a keyboard and mouse.
This setting is on my Steam Machine and Steam deck, but I was wondering if there is a way to enable this on Steam in Windows or other operating systems? Is this found in Windows Steam Big Picture mode? Or is there a launch code I can add?

Question Steam input/bindings issue
The problem I'm having is that any very short inputs that are bound to LMB or RMB (in my case, tapping RT for an extremely short time (such as to spam it)), seem to result in the mouse click being held down indefinitely until I press it again. Does anyone know of an option/way to fix this?
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I was hoping someone here knows a lot about the steam input options.
*I'm using an Xbox controller if it matters.
Edit: I've found an option in RT full pull-->settings to add a Fire End Delay. This (obviously) makes an input end after you let go, which has fixed my issue since it can stop the input from being able to be short enough to have the issue. I set the fire end delay to ~35ms, and it seems to have stopped it.
There might be a better solution, but nothing that I can think of, short of changing how steam input works, would fix it.

Question Anyone else notice Steam gives more blurry desktop icons than the actual game files?
Like if you ask Steam for a desktop icon, it'll give you it's version of the icon, which is normally more blurry and lower quality than the icon of the actual EXE? Kind of annoying to have to go back into the icon properties and hunt for the exe to fix it.

Question Steam Input and Desktop Layout stopped working with Google Chrome or is it just me?
Apparently overnight, using a gamepad to remotely control mouse and keyboard on Google Chrome just stopped working. I can still use it for everything else on my PC, but it seems to just not work with Chrome anymore. Has anyone else noticed it...?
This may sound like a weird set up to some, but I've always used controllers to plug my laptop on a TV, sit back on the couch and use it remotely. In fact, even before the Steam Input and Desktop Layout even existed, I used (and still do) Controller Companion. I use it to play games (not only on Steam) and also watch YouTube, Netflix, or just browse websites in general. So yeah, I've always used it with Chrome A LOT. But today, it just stopped working. 🤡
Like I said, I can still use my controllers (Xbox One and DualSense) with everything else (games, desktop, other apps), but Chrome just seems to override Steam's Desktop Layout and Controller Companion.
When I try using Controller Companion, it's even weirder: it forces CC to a default configuration, even if it's not my custom desktop config and EVEN if I create and apply a custom configuration specifically for Chrome. Chrome just ignores it anyway and goes back to default. And when I turn off Controller Companion entirely and try to use Steam Input insted, everything works fine on destkop and other apps - but as soon as I open a Chrome window, both my controllers stop doing anything at all.
Does anyone have any idea of what's going on? Was there a recent update or something?
I've been doing this for over a DECADE at this point, but enshittification is hitting so hard that I'm actually worried Windows or Chrome are gonna take this away from me.

Discussion Cannot buy bundle, because I own one item
Even though the bundle is cheaper!
I’d like to get myself RDR1 after completing RDR2. Well, the shop is selling the bundle RDR1+RDR2 for about 40€, the single game RDR1 for 50€.
However, I cannot buy the bundle because I already own RDR2. According to Steam Support there is no chance to buy the bundle or even delete my version of RDR2.
Am I loosing my mind or can someone make sense of it??

Question Steam Cloud File Potential Malware?
Yo so I suspected my old laptop may have had malware but have since changed to a new laptop. Since I changed to a new laptop I have been reinstalling my games like normal. But 1 game (Terraria) seems to have 1 file failing to validate everytime I verify the game files through Steam. So now I am basically worried that the 1 file is potential malware from the old device carrying over through Steam cloud or something a potential malware did. And because of this I am now worried of playing the game since the 1 file keeps failing to validate and idk if this is a sign of potential malware or not. I have tried reinstallation and contacting the Devs but nothing worked so now idk and I only use Defenders so I don't think its the AV. I heard malware can corrupt game files too so that's another concern. I haven't launched the game out of fear so idk if there is anything wrong v the game.
Is 1 file failing to validate a sign of potential malware carrying over through cloud or a sign of something potential malware did? If not, can someone explain why to my non tech literate brain? Thx.

Question I just missed my steam controller reservation. How do I avoid this in the future?
I had the steam controller reserved since May, and the website said that I would not be getting the confirmation until December, but I ended up getting the email August 18th and I did not see it until today. I had email notifications on, but I did not receive a notification at all and now I have lost the reservation. Are there any other ways for me to make sure I am notified about the email for next time?
