Sharing this for everyone who is still getting errors trying to run NBA 2K27 on their Steam Deck. This is the method that finally worked for me. Everyone I asked was trying to charge money for a fix, so I’m sharing this for FREE.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• Lutris: To run the game outside of direct Steam. Download this from the Discover app in Desktop Mode (it's the blue basket icon).
• ProtonUp-Qt: To download the required custom runner (Wine-Vanilla-11.16).
• NBA 2K27 Copy: (I used the quacked version from SteamRip).

IMPORTANT NOTE: You no longer need the steam_appid.txt file in the NBA folder for this method. If you already have it in your game directory, please delete it.
Step 1: Prepare the Game

• Download NBA 2K27 and extract the files. (Skip this step if you already have the files ready).

Step 2: Setup New Wine using ProtonUp-Qt

• a. Under the 'Install for:' tab, choose Lutris.
• b. Click 'Add version' and find Wine-Vanilla-11.16.
• Note: Make sure Lutris is completely closed/exited during this step.

Step 3: Add the Game to Lutris
Open Lutris, tap the plus + sign at the top left, and select "Add locally installed game".

• a. Name: NBA 2K27
• b. Runner: Choose Wine Steam (or just Wine).

Step 4: Game Options Tab

• a. Executable: Browse your directory, find your extracted NBA folder, and select NBA2K27.exe.
• b. Wine Prefix: This is where your save data will go. You can put it anywhere, but I recommend creating a dedicated folder inside your Documents.

Step 5: Runner Options Tab (IMPORTANT)

• a. Look for the Wine Version dropdown.
• b. Select the Wine-Vanilla-11.16 version you just installed via ProtonUp-Qt, then hit Save (Upper Right).

Step 6: Create Steam Shortcut

• a. In the Lutris main menu, click on NBA 2K27.
• b. At the bottom, click the up-arrow right next to the 'Play' button, then select Create Steam Shortcut.
• This will push the shortcut directly to your Gaming Mode Library.

Final Step: Check Gaming Mode
Switch back to Gaming Mode and open your Non-Steam Games Library.

• a. You should see NBA 2K27.exe appear there (it won't have artwork yet).
• b. Click the Settings (gear icon) > Properties. Your shortcut settings should look exactly like this:

TARGET
"/usr/bin/flatpak"
START IN
"/home/deck"
LAUNCH OPTIONS
run net.lutris.Lutris lutris:rungameid/ (Note: there will be a number at the end of this depending on its ID in your Lutris menu).

If it looks like that, congrats, it's ready to play!

I've been using rpcs3 from Discovery for about 2 years now but today when I try to launch it says it's not a supported build. I haven't installed anything and just update it through auto update in desktop mode so I'm curious why I get this message now.

I managed to run NBA 2k27 as a non steam game using GE-Proton 11-6, but for some reason it cannot detect my steamdeck controller, it only lets me play using keyboard and mouse.

anyone encounter the same issue?, or already had a fix for the issue?

downloaded 2k27 from steamrip i keep getting steam initialization then found about using lutris on rin ru

used lutris now the error i get is failed to load d3d12sdklayers dll

i dont know i followed a lot of discussions and instructions but it seems that i need the lutris runner "system 11.16" i cant seem to find how to get that mines only 11.0

tried kraokens wine 11.16 version both wow and amd64 version i also used the staging ones dont know whats the difference stuck here for 3 hours i give up theres definitely something i prolly skipped i installed lutris from the discover app in the steam desktop mode
but i dont know why i dont have system 11.16 anyone please help

I just installed Accela on Friday and got around to testing it today. Games run fine when launched, Steam and not Steam, but the deck itself and the Steam menu now runs idiosyncratically.

Attempting to check for software updates yields "unable to check for updates" error. You can't type letters in the search panel, whether with a controller or manually onscreen. Every so often, controls will invert in a game on the AB/BA axis when they had never done that before. And sometimes the Steam button will stop doing anything.

Is this a known error?

recently got bloodborne on my deck and for some reason it crashes whenever loading in. I have no idea what to do as i’ve downloaded it using deck borne and BBlauncher

I tried proton experimental, DW proton.
I also set the online-fix launch code.

Still i get this error. Btw I got the file from onlinefix website.

Update: fixed it by copying from a windows pc , but now it says “ Failed to initialize steam”

If I launch Cemu through desktop mode the controls work fine but when launching game in gaming mode it doesn’t work.

I’ve tried going through EmulationStation and selecting a controller configuration through that as well but nothing seems to work and I can’t find any recent posts on the issue.

Also if for some reason it makes any difference I’m trying to run WindWaker HD

Im trying to install ghost recon wildlands for the new update and im getting the -11 error every time i start the installation ive tried steam winetricks port proton and lutris all with no luck and cant find any fix anywhere on google

i’ve literally tried everything i feel like. extracting the mods in the download folder and manually adding them to the bikes folder on my steam deck, dragging and extracting directly into the folder, deleting and redownloading the game and the mods. nothing seems to work can someone plssss help me out here im outta options

*copy and paste the steam_api64.dll from the denuvo folder INTO the folder where the p3r.exe is.*

aAso make sure to use the custom proton Linuwux.

or cahcyOS (depends on you). swap the proton versions in case the crash on launch happens.

Has anyone managed to get Gallipoli to run? I was able to get to the main menu, I get a black screen, but can hear the audio in the background.

Hi all, I've recently downloaded sudachi and I'm having an issue when playing two player/using controllers. No issues with the controllers on single player, but get the pictures error when I've selected 2 player. I've set it to handheld mode but it's still not working. Even the steamdeck controller stops working. Any ideas??
