Discussion Morrowind Remaster After TESVI?
Praise Todd!

Hey community!
It’s been a while since the moderation team did a "state of the subreddit" post, but we believe that the recent months’ activity warrants discussion, as well as some reflection.
As any regular will have noticed by now, quite a lot of shitposts have been posted since The Game Awards last December. Today these posts still get a lot of engagement and the number of upvotes-to-downvotes make it clear that the far majority of you enjoy this kind of content.
However, recently we have heard feedback from people that worry that the subreddit is heading in a direction where shitposting is becoming the main focus. Some of our veteran members already decided to leave the subreddit due to this, including people who contributed quite a lot, sadly.
With this post we want to have a proper discussion with all of you about what type of community you want this to be – and how we get there.
During The Game Awards in December 2025 a new meme trend started on the subreddit – the statue posting. A couple of months later we had shitposts discussing what kinds of lavender, clouds and grass TES VI would have. Afterwards the Summer Games Fest madness took over and "Tomorrow"-posting rose.
It seems that we get something new every month, and now it’s about pretending that the game has been released. As it stands right now, these posts are still getting quite a lot of engagement. It will likely blow over soon only to get replaced by a new trend.
Not everyone is a fan of the shitposts, but generally these posts have been received well. Here are some stats from some of the recent ones:
| Post | Views | Upvote % | Reports |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wow, what an absolutely fantastic game. | 41,000 | 93% | 3 |
| How is everyone enjoying the game so far? Just beat the first boss. | 30,000 | 91% | 5 |
| can someone point me into the right direction to the staff of worms? | 15,000 | 86% | 2 |
| New info on DLC! | 7,100 | 81% | 2 |
| Feel like a total idiot for crafting the Dwemer gun | 4,300 | 81% | 1 |
Most of the reports we see in relation to these posts deal with the “No Low Effort Content” rule. Many posts and comments have also been removed – 100+ in the last seven days – which includes the many posts featuring AI generated.
However, it’s also our opinion that quite a lot of the shitposts are in line with our rules. As specified in the rule “Posts must […] offer value to the community.” We acknowledge that shitposting is not everyone’s cup of tea, but these posts are popular and they do result in (positive) engagement.
Looking at our stats, it’s also quite clear that engagement has risen significantly since last year.

It would be hastily to conclude that the looser atmosphere has resulted in this increased growth, but we can at least conclude that the shitposting didn’t prevent it.
Whatever the case, we acknowledge that the many shitposts aren’t for everyone. Quantity doesn’t necessarily equal quality and we want to make it clear that we hear the criticism that these recent months have sparked, and that we are willing to talk about it.
We don’t want r/TESVI to become a meme sub. The primary focus of the subreddit has always been to be – and should continue to be – a subreddit for people who want to discuss TES VI.
We are facing a small hurdle, though: TES VI isn’t out yet and it’s unfortunately not coming out Tomorrow™. We have preciously little to discuss that hasn’t been covered a dozen times already. Anyone looking forward to sailing mechanics?
My personal worry, as someone who browses this subreddit every day, is that the overall activity of the subreddit will lessen significantly if we take a hard stance against meme content. Either that or we go back to discussing the same topics every week. Balance is needed.
But what is also needed, perhaps, are new ideas. So, with all that yapping out of the way…
What feedback and ideas do you have for the subreddit?
We are receptive to feedback on how we moderate content, but we also hope that everyone will take this change to bring forth ideas to foster more engagement. Ideas to keep the subreddit interesting during times when news about TES VI are sparse and far between.
For example, an idea I shared with the team was to introduce a weekly post where we discuss a specific theme, e.g. what factions we would like to see, what kinds of new game mechanics we’d like, and so on. Is that something you’d be interested in?
Let us know what you think.

Here is a bullet-point breakdown of the interview as it pertains to TESVI:
Overall, I'd say we got a lot more out of this interview than I really expected to. In some ways it felt like we heard more about TESVI than even Starfield. What do you guys think of all of this information, and what does it say for the development timeline of TESVI?

I was born in 2001, so I really started to get hyped for upcoming games in the 2010s with Destiny and Halo 4. Then, I absorbed every ounce of info I could find on Cyberpunk 2077 before it released. And most recently, I was super excited for Starfield to come out.
However, TES VI is just different. I've never been this excited for a game before. I'm going to obsess over every frame of the trailers, every piece of concept art, every gameplay detail as we get closer to release and they start showing the game.
TES VI is the only reason I ever get on Reddit (besides um... nvm).
Have you guys ever been this way with any other game? I'm curious.

... As long as a guard from across town doesn't come in the door with an omniscient read on how I just murdered someone alone in the basement. 😆

in honour of TES visiting Hammerfell wouldn't it be wonderful to have a Redguard remake where you can actually play the game.

One two three four five six seven eight todd please don't make us wait
Poses, or resting positions, shouldn't be exclusive to photo mode.
Imagine laying down on your back on a sandy beach along the coast of Hammerfell, no armor, no weapons, just you and a half full glass of your drink of choice.
The sunset is gorgeous. The waves slowly lapping, your characters body dusted in sand. Just chillin. Enjoying the ambiance and music. You're there, finally. On a beach in The Elder Scrolls 6.
A couple button prompts are available:
Take a drink
Take a puff
Turn over
Throw a rock(in the water)
Hum, sing, whistle
Cover yourself with sand
Etc.

Sneaking into the count's chambers to jump on their bed and rob the place was a lot more fun in oblivion because the guards would have you arrested if they saw you.

Sorry, I can't upload an image today...
But here's a riddle to replace the sheogpost :
With one of my feathers, your sickness I cure,
With one of my claws, spells cannot endure,
Folk find me so ugly, yet I feel pure allure.
Who am I?

Not just for the memes N'wah but for being a realistic fantasy world. If I'm a khajiit I want to be called a fleabag or a cat. I want Redguards to call Argonians lizards and elves knife ears. I want people to call Nords barbarians.
And my personal Race favorite, I want to be a Dunmer to insult all of you farm tools! Especially you lizards!
Edit - To add. I also want some shoppers to refuse your service or trust you because of the race. Like Khajjit Skooma dealers should trust you more if your a Khajiit.
Edit 2 - Perhaps I should word it better lol. Obviously real racism is evil. I just want to keep some of it in Elder Scrolls since its immersive.
I'm secretly a leaker.
EDIT: Guys I think some of you didn't understand the post. There's a screenshot of a post I did a while ago speculating about a possible Elder Scrolls show/movie, and there's a link to an article saying that Asha is taking Elder Scrolls to Hollywood, released last week.

I keep seeing people repeat this mantra everywhere: 'KCD2 is basically a realistic The Elder Scrolls, Bethesda should take notes for TES VI.' My head explodes every time I read it.
People see the first-person camera, a horse, swords, and a skill system where you level up by doing, and they automatically lump both games into the same bucket. It's such a superficial analysis that completely ignores the underlying design philosophy.
"But Morrowind..."
Even if we get pedantic and pull out the Morrowind card—which was infinitely more unforgiving than Skyrim, didn't hold your hand, and left you stranded if you didn't read your journal—the comparison still falls completely apart.
Morrowind was an esoteric, gnostic power fantasy. You started as a prisoner on an alien island, deciphering prophecies and metaphysical concepts, only to end up literally becoming a walking god. Its difficulty came from tabletop RPG mechanics, dice-roll miss chances, and the lack of a quest marker.
KCD2 is playing an entirely different game. It is a grounded, historical simulator. It doesn't try to give you a blank slate to be whoever you want; it aims to make you feel the weight of being Henry, a guy with very real limitations in 15th-century Bohemia. Its challenge stems from situational realism, anthropology, and physics—not 80s RPG mechanics.
"But The Witcher 3..."
If KCD2 resembles anything in its structure, it's The Witcher. Henry and Geralt both have a set name, past, and voice, forcing you to adapt your decisions to their established personality rather than creating a faceless avatar. The quests are scripted with an obsessive level of detail and reactivity. Above all, the world is indifferent to you—it doesn't revolve around satisfying your fantasy of being the Chosen One.
TES is about absolute freedom, deep mythology, and emergent exploration where you can be a vampire assassin wizard. KCD2 is historical narrative where if you don't take a bath, people smell you from a mile away and a couple of peasants with sticks can wipe you out.
Using KCD2 to bash Bethesda just because both games use a first-person perspective shows that people judge games by their shell rather than what they actually aim to achieve.
Am I really the only one who finds this debate ridiculous? Let me know what you think.
TL;DR: Comparing KCD2 to TES makes zero sense, even if you bring up Morrowind. TES is a blank-slate gnostic power fantasy; KCD2 is a grounded historical sim with a pre-defined protagonist (much closer to The Witcher). Lumping them together just because both use a 1st-person camera and swords is lazy analysis.

I’ve been wanting this game since 2013. I still play Skyrim. That being said, I’m totally fine waiting for the game to come out for another year or so if it means that it will be a great game. I want my future kids to play this game. I want it to be like Skyrim in terms of longevity and the ability just to play a game and be lost in a world. I am perfectly fine with waiting a long time for this game to come out. I think it will come out in 2028. I think 2029 is pretty unrealistic, but I’m willing to wait that long.
All that being said though, I do not want this game to slip into 2031 or 2032. That’s to me is insanity.

Obviously it will show either hammerfell, High Rock, or the overall regions around Illiac Bay. Honestly I'm more excited to see what will be up against and what new possibilities we didn't have in previous games! I'm getting very impatient about Bethesda dropping the trailer :(

Hammerfell and High Rock have had quite a storied history together, from the Yokudan Ra Gada conquering the Deathland, including the then-Breton port, to the various wars that took and alliances that were formed between the Bretic and Redguard kingdoms, to both High Rock's and Hammerfell's integration into the Empire. But now, with Hammerfell's secession from the Empire, the matter of where the border between the two lies is of some importance.
In Daggerfall and ESO, we are given two very different border demartations, the former, chronolically more recent example, has the Bjoulsae River essentially serve as the border, while the latter has Evermore control a large part of the river's southern bank, with Bangkorai Pass, a mountain pass leading through the Dragontail Mountains, serving as the border. I think we could very well see a variant of ESO's demarcation carry over to TES VI, in large part because Bangkorai Garrison, a fort that spans across the Bangkorai Pass, could serve as an immersive barrier to block movement between the provinces, as well as potentially an access point for DLC.
There is however the question of who'd hold Bangkorai Garrison in the Fourth Era? Evermore's Order of Saint Pelin, as seen near a millenia before during the events of ESO? The Imperial Legion? Could the inability of the latter due to manpower shortages mean the Cyrodilic administration kicking guarding the border to the former? And what could that entail?
We could very see a scenario, where Bretic royals, the rulers of Evermore for example, are apponted governors in exchange for using their own manpower and resources to safeguard the province's border with Hammerfell. And that could lead to even more serious problems down the line, like those same royals turned governors, invested with Imperial authority, beginning to harbor ambitions for the Ruby Throne...

CHIM (/tʃɪm/\[1\] or /kim/)\[UOL 1\] sometimes rendered in lowercase as chim,\[UOL 2\] is an ancient Ehlnofex sigil connoting 'royalty', 'starlight', and 'high splendor'.\[UOL 2\] It is also described specifically as the secret syllable of royalty.\[2\] It is said those who truly know or understand CHIM reach a state of enlightenment,\[3\] and can reshape the land.\[4\] In the context of Ehlnofex incantations, CHIM can be used as a word of power.\[5\]
CHIM as a word is often rendered as capitalized because it is from the Ehlnofex language,\[UOL 1\]\[UOL 2\] the language of the Ehlnofey who are believed to have been the progenitors of the modern races.\[6\] The actual form of the sigil in Ehlnofex script is described as resembling a "Crowned Tower", and so the proper written form of CHIM would be the syllable "I".\[7\]\[UOL 2\]\[nb 1\] As is characteristic of Ehlnofex language, the sigil itself is described as a contorting and dangerous thing. Scholars that can perceive its shape describe it as a Crowned Tower that threatens to break apart at the slightest break in concentration.\[UOL 2\]
CHIM or Chim has been used to refer to various disparate but interrelated topics:
Chim, or "royalty", is used to refer to a state of Godhood which is achieved by a successful instance of Apotheosis on Nirn.\[UOL 2\]
CHIM, one of the names for the Fourth Walking Way,\[8\]\[4\]\[UOL 3\]\[nb 2\] used to achieve the state of chim by comprehending the true meaning of the sigil.\[8\]\[UOL 2\]
CHIM as an Ehlnofex word is used in the names of certain artifacts or locations. Chim as a word appears in "Chim-el Adabal" ("Spirit Stone of High Royalty"),\[UOL 4\] another name for the Red Diamond, which is the centerpiece of the Amulet of Kings.\[9\] Among various Elder Scrolls named after Ehlnofex terms was the Elder Scroll of Chim, which was contained within the Temple of Chim in northeastern Cyrodiil during the Three Banners War.\[10\]

Wrapping up my first skyrim play through in a while after getting lost in starfield for a few hundred hours and I kinda wish my skyrim character could step through a “Unity” and run through the main quests again... anyone else have that experience? To be clear, I don’t think it should be as core to the narrative as Unity is for starfield, but I think I’d appreciate some kind of lore related NG+ experience as an option in TESVI. Thoughts? If they were implement something like that, how might they tie it into elder scrolls lore?

I'm curious of what you guys think in this regard. Hammerfell is almost guaranteed, but maybe we get High Rock as well? Or maybe we go to the land of the Khajiits and Todd has just been leading us down a false trail. Let's talk about it!

If you lived through that time period. It was so long that it felt like another lifetime. It was so long we weren’t even waiting for it because we assumed it would never happen.
Puts it into perspective. The gap has been an unacceptably long time for a developer that has been an active developer the whole time.
