I recently picked up my 2026 MY Premium AWD and have been using FSD quite a bit. I’d had a Tesla about a year ago, and FSD wasn’t nearly as mature as it is now. Was pretty reluctant to use it all that much back then.
Now, the one thing that’s caught me by surprise is that using FSD really takes away much of the potential for shitty driving behavior on my part, behavior that would definitely get my blood pressure up. If I weren’t using FSD, I’d be steering the car myself (duh!), managing who I allow to merge in front of me entering from the entrance ramps on the interstate, when do I pass, etc. And when I’d be doing all that, I’d probably have a few opportunities to bet a bit of an ass, I’m a bit embarrassed to admit. Not allowing someone to merge in front of me for some reason, doing various moves that might be considered aggressive.
HOWEVER, if FSD is in control, those decisions are out of my hands - literally! Driving is a much calmer experience, I must admit. I do have to remember to let FSD “do its thing”, not to be too eager to intervene. Sometimes FSD does have a bit of trouble handling merging traffic smoothly, but I try to let it to what it’s programmed to do.
Apologies if I’m stating the obvious - it just sort of hit me as I was driving this evening. (Well, as FSD was driving!) May FSD continue to evolve and improve!
