Drugs & Alcohol Smoking weed for the first time. Any tips?

I am a 23F who’s never tried any kind of drugs before, only alcohol, and I’m scared of a bad trip. I’m doing it with some friends I trust a lot so no worries about that. I just wanna know how should I approach the situation since I’m someone who’s also on antidepressants. I just wanna have a good time and still feel like I’m in control.

Love & Dating Am I being toxic? 20M and 18F.

Hey guys, I've been with my girlfriend for about 8 months, and this January will be our first anniversary. I'm really excited about it, but she told me that she's planning to spend New Year's Eve in London with her friends, and they're going to see Magic Mike.

For some reason, the idea makes me feel angry and uncomfortable. I haven't said anything to her about it because I don't want to come across as toxic, jealous, or controlling, or make her feel like I'm trying to tell her what she can and can't do.

Come on guys, It’s your first anniversary, and your girlfriend is going to a strip show with her friends? That’s ridiculous.

I don't know what to do.... What do you think guys?

Other Was I groomed?

I never thought I would use reddit of all things, but I feel like this is the only way I can get a non-biased answer for my current situation. I'm currently struggling a lot with this, so all help is appreciated. I'm going to do my best to keep things vague, while also providing the important details.

To start off, I am currently 17, but I met my mother figure when I was 16. I can't recall their exact age, but I know they were in their 20s.

It originally wasn't suppose to turn into a friendship. All I was doing was sharing a fic I had just wrote, and they ended up really liking it a lit. It made me happy that someone appreciated my work, especially since they weren't my friend or anything at the time. So it felt really genuine.

We ended up keeping in touch so I could share updates, and long story short, we grew closer. Becoming friends. Then a bit longer into the future, after they would let me vent and cry to them about my struggles... I admitted that I started seeing them as a mother figure. A few days after, they said that they were comfortable with that. Thus starting our family like relationship.

It felt nice being loved by a parental figure for once... Like that feeling you get when you've been under water for so long, and you finally swim back up for air.

However... They wanted to be open about something serious, since our friendship was becoming into something like this.

To keep things very short, they had admitted that they confessed their feelings to a friend at the time, who was a minor, and they ended up dating for a bit. They said it was nothing sexual in the slightest, but they still knew how wrong it was... Breaking contact with them after a bit.

(There are a lot more details, but I'm trying to keep things short and simple.)

I had so many mixed feelings at the time... Disgust being one of them... But I also couldn't help but think that... They just made a really bad mistake, and they're aware of it. They're trying to do better now and improve themselves. I thought even them just being honest about such a thing in general was right of them to do, and just showed how much they were trying to be a better person.

So... I ended up staying in touch with them. They were my mother figure from that point on. The one person who cared for me in such a way. And they did.

They were always opened about being afraid that they would accidentally hurt me somehow... Which I would try comforting them, saying that they wouldn't, and that even if they did, I would stop them, and/or cut contact with them. I would protect myself and see the signs.

Some of my friends started getting bad vibes from them though... Especially one of my closer ones. She started getting worried that I was getting groomed by this person, but I shrugged it off, saying that I would be ok, and that they weren't like that. She still didn't like it... But respected my choices.

Fast forward to more recently... I ended up cutting ties with them, due to finding out that they supported incest, and saw nothing wrong with it... It took a lot of help from my friends to convince me to finally do it, after a couple of days of finding out this information...

I can't stop crying... I miss them so much... A part of me really wants to go back, agree to disagree on their belief, just so that I can have my mother back... The one person who was always there for me...

My friends claimed that they were trying to guilt trip me into staying, stalling, but it didn't seem like it to me... In short, they said the choice was up to me if I wanted to leave. That they just wanted me to be happy.

I truly can't tell if I was groomed or not, because they never talked about anything sexual with me, didn't try taking advantage over me in anyway, at least not that I can tell... I cannot pin point how this could've been grooming... But my friends say otherwise.

I genuinely need to know if I was or not... If this was grooming, how? Am I really that clueless?

Thank you for reading, and please send advice if you can.

Media Why is Sabrina carpenter so attractive to me?

I am a woman, and I never in my life have ever been attracted to another woman ever. But I kind of feel like I would do anything to get to date her and I don’t get it, like visually she’s GORGEOUS but like esp when it comes to celebs there are 10/10 and I’m not attracted to them, I don’t like her type of music, i just don’t get why specifically her. And geniuenly like it’s serious bc before her even my type in men was brunettes but now it’s blonde (and I used to not even be that into white people and rarely find them attractive which has CHANGED bc of her) like I feel like she’s the most dateable person on earth ever for no apparent reason.

Family Is Husband a dick?

As context, been with the same man since I was 16 years old, so 28 years I am 44 now. He treats me well. Is kind, brings flowers. Does dishes and laundry occasionally to help However, he is very much a homebody and I want to live life. We have two kids under the age of 10 at Home. We don’t go on dates. He complains when I wanna go out and do family activities. Never swims with us in our backyard pool. He just wants to be in the house doing his own thing. Separate. I feel like I’m a single mom, but I have the benefit of having him here with the dual income. This is really starting to wear on me. I even have to attend church alone. When I somewhat forced my hand, he will throw in my face saying that I make him do things that he doesn’t want to do. Am I wasting my time? I feel like I’m gonna be dead before I get to enjoy my life. For once in a blue moon events like weddings and things like that he complains and acts like I’m killing g him.m when I ask him to go. if I go alone, he would probably just hassle me about who I talk to and who hit on me and put restrictions on how much I could drink since he wasn’t with me. It’s a whole thing so I usually don’t do anything outside the house unless it’s with the kids. When I wanna throw a family party here at the house with all of our family in the backyard drinking and barbecue he throws a fit. I just see myself getting older and more resentful towards him. I don’t think he’ll ever change. I feel like I’ve changed a lot for him. Giving up my wants and needs because they don’t align with his.

Law & Government How do I know if the US government is watching me?

I recently have started receiving disability payments and my disabilities are all mental health diagnosis’s so I am not physically disabled. I am so scared they are watching me and if I spend any money on the wrong thing they will cancel my disability. Or if they are following me they could see if I skipped therapy for a session and decide I wasn’t compliant with treatment and cancel my disability. What if I do something wrong and I’m not sure what exactly it is I can do wrong now that they are helping and watching. I really needed their help and health insurance and I am so thankful. Do they have access to my phone as well? How much are they surveilling me?

Mental Health Do autistic people know that they are acting autistic?

This is a very strange question to ask, and I’m not sure how best to phrase it, but it’s something I’ve wondered for a very long time.

So, Reddit in particular has a high concentration of autistic users, but that’s true for most anonymous online spaces that allow for people to chat about niche interests.

However, I’ve noticed that in many cases that these users wear “autism” like a badge of honor. They put it in their bios, and bring it up constantly as not an excuse for their odd behavior, but as a sort of justification for it. They’re proud of their personality quirks, they believe it to define them.

I suppose that there isn’t anything inherently wrong with that, but often times I’ll be engaging in a conversation and an openly autistic user will ease drop into the discussion with unrelated nonsequitars or opinions that are so outside the box that they borderline on psychotic behavior. Like, making statements that if said in public would catch side eye from every person within an ear’s radius.

Whenever I retort with something along the lines of, that’s a ridiculous statement, and not one that the majority of society would allign with I get pushback. Like, they double & triple down on the opinion that all men should have government mandated girlfriends, or something similarly batshit fucking crazy.

At what point does an openly autistic person stop to check themselves and be like “oh shit, maybe I’m acting autistic right now?”

Because talking to autistic people on reddit is like the meme of the dude driving the wrong way down the highway and then saying to himself “why is everyone else driving the wrong way?”

Edit: thank for all the replies. Very informative, I’ve been wanting to ask some variation of this question got about a decade now, but was quite literally too afraid to ask.

Culture & Society Is Roblox full of creeps? I am very fearful for my safety bc I play Roblox regularly.

17F here. My question is does Roblox have a lot of creeps (in both genders ik it's not only the guys that are creepy)?

My experience is that recently after a stranger saw me talking in Chinese on Roblox to my friend he kept asking me what I eat and told me to eat him. I felt very uncomfortable so I left the game. When I was 14 I also met a pedophile on Roblox that tried to groom me, I blocked him when he asked to see a pic of my chest and said other creepy stuff. Is it my fault because I use a girl avatar in Roblox so they know I'm a girl? I'm like kinda traumatized bc the pedo was rlly creepy he told me he wants to warm me up and other weird stuff and I really thought he was my friend till he said those. I know not all guys are bad but I just wanna know if Roblox has a lot of creeps. Sorry if I'm offending anyone! I know not all guys are bad! Some are good guys too! I also know women can be creeps too!

Love & Dating Would you date someone who is ethically non monogamous and maired?

I (20m) met this girl who seems nice (26f) and she told me she is ethically non monogamous and also married I don't personally have any issues with ENM however this would be my first relationship (probably a casual relationship) if we get along on a date... also I think ENM is typically fine (and I admire peoples honesty) however the fact that she's maired make me feel kinda weird and I'm not sure about someone practicing ENM being my first relationship.

What does this sound like to you are there any red flags or am I just getting cold feet. Maybe I'm just hesitant because I'm inexperienced and this could be the opportunity to gain the experience I need to feel confident?

Forgot to mention I definitely would not want to meet this guy that would be so weird.

Health/Medical Does Botox and other facial work have a weird phase before it looks normal?

Like many actors look a certain way when they get botox or “work done” and they can barely move their face but after about a year it looks more natural. I noticed this with Millie Bobby Brown in the last season of stranger things where her face clearly showed signs of Botox but these days when i see pictures she looks back to “normal” and her face seems less firm in a way. Also noticed with Nicole Kidman in her recent photos and also Ryan Gosling. Ryan’s face in The Fall Guy was super firm and puffy but much better in his recent appearances.

Is it because the botox is kind of running out or because it needs a settling phase before it looks good and natural?

Education & School How do I know if this is my thing or not?

What should I do? I’m a 20-year-old woman and I got accepted into an emergency response center dispatcher training program. Most of my classmates are around 30–45 years old.

I feel like this is really difficult. I’ve only been studying for a month, but it already feels challenging and scary, and I’m starting to feel like maybe I’m not cut out for this. I’m scared and anxious about the fact that people’s lives could be in my hands and that I would have to make quick, decisive decisions. The field itself is really interesting, but I don’t know if I’m capable of doing this.

I don’t have any background in healthcare, the volunteer fire department, or anything like that. And I’m so young… all the official terminology, call-handling guidelines, laws, regulations, and rules feel difficult to understand. And the fact that I’m supposed to recognize life-threatening situations within seconds feels overwhelming. And just everything else too…

I’m also not sure if this is really for me anymore. I don’t know if I applied because I genuinely wanted to do this, or just because it sounded cool to say that I got in. I don’t have that much life experience either, and I feel like I don’t have much common sense, so everything feels really difficult to handle.

I honestly don’t know what to do or whether this is really the right thing for me. How do I know if this is

How do I know if this particular profession is my calling or not?

Ethics & Morality Is it immoral to hook up with someone a much younger despite not knowing it at the time?

I just want to just clarify that this individual met the standard legal definition of a consenting adult. I also think that any reasonable person would have assumed them to be a fair bit older given the circumstance. I am not trying to make excuses for myself and realize what I did was pretty terrible, but I only ask that you please keep it civil and try to remember that I am a real person with real feelings..

My brother (22M) invited me (27F) out to a local dive bar where he was planning on meeting up with some of his friends. He is a college senior and plays basketball at the university, but lives off campus about an hour south of me. Being that most of them were tall and being served alcohol, I was under the impression that everyone there was 21 and over.. I was getting along quite well with this one guy and thought he was really good looking so we ended up going home together and had sex. I looked him up on Instagram the following morning and went through most of his pictures until I came across a screenshot from an athletic recruitment site. It said he was born in 2010 on his bio 🙁 This made no sense to me because he had tattoos, was served alcohol at a bar, and is over 6ft tall. From experience I know that tattoo artists will turn you away if you're under 18. I asked my brother if he knew how old he was and where they met. He said they met during a pickup game but never asked him about his age. He got suspicious and started to demand that I explain why I was prodding then got extremely upset when I told him. He called me a whore and told me that I'm irresponsible then told our older sibling. I haven't answered her texts because I'm scared to even look at my phone right now. I put it in airplane mode because it kept dinging.

I know it's my fault and I'm really embarrassed, but this hardly seems fair to me. I've been having a really bad week and haven't been intimate with anyone since ending a four year relationship back in 2023. I obviously don't plan on contacting this person anymore which is most unfortunate.
