I love this design as soon as I saw it. I love her leaf like hair and her more darker colors to her, and her eyes look so good as well. This is probably my favorite PVZ OC design by a landslide, and I already made like 2 fanarts of her. I wish I can show you guys, but I don't want to break a rule in this sub in some way just to be safe.

Artist Some of the organisms in a spec bio bestiary by Eduardo Valdés-Hevia

Spec as in speculative

I find the idea of organisms evolving to counter humanity very fascinating. Some of these species, such as the Ghost Buckeye and the bloodbark tree, adapted to man's destruction of the environment by being unsettling. Others, like the Luretail viper, lighthouse mimics, siren alligators, sea beaver, and counterfeit mussel, adapted to trick humans.

EDIT: The copper rot and blackhand spider also adapted to specialize in human structures.

EDIT 2: Some clarification on what each species does:

Ghost buckeye's pattern scares off humans

Bloodbark's sap deters loggers

Copper rot feeds on electricity

Lighthouse mimics mimic lighthouses so sailors serve into rocks to avoid the "lighthouse" where the pack can attack (should have clarified this one, sorry)

Luretail viper mimics sound and look of human baby

Juvenile sirens have markings that look like human faces and thrash in water to bait people into coming in to help. Adults have nose protrusions that look like human heads from afar to lure people into a false sense of safety.

Blackhand spiders live beneath furniture and inject paralyzing venom into heels.

Haunting spiders create complex webs that look like ghosts to deter humans

Sea beavers make dams in shapes to lure in sailors so they can harvest the ship wood

Counterfeit mussel has a lure to attract human hands so they can implant larvae in fingers

Books Judge Holden (Blood Meridian)

Judge Holden is the main antagonist of Cormac McCarthy's 1985 horror/thriller crime and anti-Western epic novel Blood Meridian.

He is described as nearly 7 feet tall (2.13 m) and completely lacking body hair, including eyebrows and eyelashes. He is massive in frame, enormously strong, an excellent musician and dancer, a fine draftsman, exceptionally articulate and persuasive in several languages, and an unerring marksman.

His skin is so pale it has almost no pigment. This strange appearance, along with his keen, extremely fast reflexes, strength, agility, apparent immunity to sleep and aging, and multifarious other abilities psuggests he issomething other than a normal human. In the final pages of the novel, McCarthy makes more direct reference to the Judge as a supernatural entity, or even as a concept personified.

Artstyle I really like the sprites made by Tribute Games.

All of the ones mentioned are games based on original works, but the sprites they work on always seem to have an added charm. Moreover, the backgrounds are all beautiful, and Scott Pilgrim EX in particular had many places with really wonderful aesthetics that blended various colors. In addition to that, TMNT Shredder's Revenge and Marvel Cosmic Invasion also expressed the locations based on the original works very richly. I like most of what they have made and I hope they release more works in the future.

(not all of them are here due to the 20 image limit)

i am such a massive speculative biology nerd and these are so goddamn cool i adore the details of stuff like the wings mostly looking like modified arms and hands because that's absolutely how a mammal or reptile would evolve wings (see: bats) and all of the indepth lore about their biologies and behaviors and cultures and how much they just feel like real world animals that could feasibly exist and aaaaaaaaaghhh theyre just so COOL

Honorary mention to the designs of the familiars/monsters as well they are also some of the sickest specbio stuff ive ever seen

This suit is straight-up PEAK. The black and green look amazing together and looks really unique compared to the other Lanterns, and the white belt is an underrated addition.

Plus, the constructed visor and cape look incredible on her, and when she puts on a hat, she arguably looks even better.

Anime Cursed Inu-Oh from "Inu-Oh" | A good design made phenomenal by how he is animated

So, I'll start with the design in a vacuum. This is - in my opinion - one of the best iterations of the "child born cursed" trope. He strikes that perfect balance between body horror monster and "just a lil' guy." The face and arm are the most striking aspects of the design, and they are both well executed. A 20-foot arm has a nice whimsy to it while the face, twisted strangely, is genuinely startling. It is, as I said previously, a nice balance between fairytale and horror story. Beyond that, the little hand sprouting out of his face and hunchback just tie it together extremely well. And if you didn't notice it, there's a subtle nod to Michael Jackson when he dons his prosthetic arm for a performance; it is covered with a white glove. At least I assume that's an intentional homage given how many MJ-inspired moves Inu-Oh uses during that sequence.

And now let's move on to my favorite part... the way he moves. I absolutely love how lively it is, and I especially enjoy how much it incorporates Inu-Oh's physiology into the choreography; even when he's wearing a disguise, his lanky limbs are put to use (which you can see better in the full video). Sure, it's a little goofy, but it's goofy in a very charismatic way; it essentially abandons the slightly unnerving surface to show you Inu-Oh's very human soul. I can see why so many people in-universe got horny for him after a single performance (though I'm sure the excessive hip thrusts and scantily-clad opener helped).

Zeth nailed it with these designs, especially Garchomp with golisopods stone. I really love those four wings and horns. Using Gore Magala was nice too. Falinks looks a like some sort of bike imo.

Warhammer 30k terminator Armour

I really love terminator plate in Warhammer 30k . It's bulky exaggerated proportions shoulder chest plates etc gives it this heroic quality like some kind of ancient temple guardian. This really helps to communicate the durability of the armour looks heavy and indestructible. In Terms of its base design it looks almost like a sci fi interpretation of an old diving suit, giant armoured shells bulky life support equipment cables etc. but on top of that you've got lots of historical influences the armoured cowl above the helmet looks like a Gothic arch, the shoulder plates and lower torso have Roman leather Pteruges strips.

Video Game Mega Malamar from Pokemon Legends ZA

Thumbnail

Mega Malamar elevates it's base form's design by going all in on the 'supervillain' trope, giving him an elongated body and a fresh hairdo. By itself, it stands out like a freak in a good way.

Then you fall down the rabbit-hole of it's design origin. The long frills along the side of it's head resemble shoulder-pads, reminiscent of comicbook villains such as Mr Sinister and Annihilus. It's hairdo resembles a massive head/brain, which it is able to stimulate using toxin's from it's tentacles to grow stronger, similar to characters such as Bane who injects substances into himself to grow larger musclemass. And did I forget that it's body was shaped like a big M? Overall, Mega Malamar highly resembles Mojo Jojo if he was a squid instead of a monkey.

Not to mention, the bioluminescent lights that glow from both the tips of Malamar's tentacles and thin body both serve distinct purposes in it's design. The rainbow lights are evocative of deep sea creatures, which the original Malamar was based on (the giant squid), and these rainbow lights can be seen in comb jellies. As for the Green and Purple rings that sway in hypnotic rhythm, green and purple are colours often associated with super-villains (see Green Goblin, Annihilus, Joker, most of Lex Luthor's armours, and even depictions of Skeletor from He-man). The glowing spots a clever way to elevate an otherwise hit-or-miss design.

Mega Malamar definitely deserves more appreciation, and it was sad that it's hype died down after the release of it's ability.

Examples:

- right ear accessory = mare

- stallions where shorts during pe while mares wear bloomers

The showings of gender diversities from the irl horse counterparts is genuinely interesting

Edit: Also Fine Motion has accessories on both ears because she's intersex irl

A very iconic digimon

It might even be familiar to those who haven't delved deeply into the series.

I love how it looks like an imperfect body covered in metal (and it actually is).

also remind me of Cybermen from Doctor Who

, HI Andromon looks like a power renger, and that's cool

I feel like Skullmageddon’s design is so wonderfully over the top that it perfectly captures the 80s feel the game goes for. Almost reminds me of a Power Rangers villain (I know that show started in the 90s, but design philosophies for fantastical villains didn’t change much between the 80s and 90s).

I always loved King initial design, covered all in black and with that intimidating mask throu which he intensely stares at you. With his unmasked design he looks like a generic hot/sexy bad guy to me, and something about it feels off...

Artist White Diamond Steven (and friends) from the ask blog/webcomic: Steven AUniverse: Ask WhitePearl and Steven (@thechekhov)

source

honestly i like the simple concept of the AU (Basically a "What if White Diamond was Steven's mother instead of Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond")

and i like how much that small change utterly changes Steven's vibe be it the more gray hoodie to the hair to the GIANT GEMSTONE IN THEIR SKULL to how they dress like you can see the White Diamond sort of loom over Steven's design like how Pink Diamond looms over steven's design

i also like how this same effect also reflects in the others designs with "Earl" regaining some of her autonomy but unlike her Volleyball Counterpart she seens to still be under the influences (though not as bad as she initially was)

also some of the original gems/fusion like seaglass, aventurine and bleached coral are pretty cool and match the style of Steven Universe pretty good

Yeah, I love Gilgamesh from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, because he's like a perfect evolution of his designs, also I love his design in Dissidia, and FF13 too.

BTW, I HATE his FF15 design, because he looks like just like a samurai with one arm.

Also im REALLY hyped for him to come back in Final Fantasy VII Revelations.

Also I prefer his Gilgamesh more then his Fate version.

Yeah, Kaido from One Piece is the type of villain I love a lot, big, intimidating with a lot of detail on him, plus a Dragon Form is a good bonus too.

Its the same reason why I love Z Broly so much.

Also Kaido, Blackbeard and Imu are my favorite One Piece Villains by a long shot.
